They all can't be escourted by frigates all the time.
Too much efficiency lost.

yeah. I know. As it stands, Chidee's convoys are probably just freighters. He has no need to start sending patrol ships with them yet because 1: Chidee arms his ships 2: Droid guards everywhere 3: He's working for mandalorians.
when a few shipments start missing, he might be forced to start defending them but its a case of cause and effect. No threat, No need.

Slow day in the guild. I do wish I had enough time to RP, because when you all are involved in a big endgame like this, not much else happens. Course, I wish I had enough time for a lot of things.

I wouldn't have thought of it? I thought all convoys had guards, by default? If he's running them in big convoys, which would probably be more efficient, it makes sense to send at least a warship or two to protect them. Hell, I mean, why take a chance?
And an advantage of arming the freighters, its bit harder to pick out which are warships and which are freighters. Hell, he might be running some 'convoys' of warships, just to teach pirates "Don't mess with my ships, they might be warships" (maybe not now, though he might do that later, if pirates become a problem).
As for droid guards, he's got some on the cargo ships, but not 'everywhere'. And the cargo ships have far less in the way of weaponry than their warship cousins. PD defense blasters and very small fighter wings, wimpy shields, etc, if they're armed at all.
*sigh* if you don't want them to be escorted this early on, I suppose I can go with it. Tell me why, though. EDIT: I mean, why they'd be unescorted.

You're not a very big faction in this conflict. Naturally you'd have fewer combat ships to be able to relegate to convoy guard. By giving every convoy that leaves your ports a guard, you spread your navy thin, thus making your defensive lines weak. If you don't have a decent enough show of combat ships to protect your worlds, you invite someone to take them back.

Im not saying your fleets have to be unescorted. Hyperdrive capable fighters work well enough in this role to chase away the occasional raider who think's he's got the stuff to take down one of your bulk haulers. Plus they're cheaper than a corvette.

Point(s). Good points, actually.
He'd rather not leave his convoys un/lightly defended, but he has other concerns, as well. So, they've got PD blasters, rather wimpy shields, maybe a torp launcher. Their main defense is probably going to be their (nasty) fighters, though. How's...four or five to a ship sound?
Yeah, his fighters don't have hyperdrives; they hitch a ride on the ships, generally. And it saves space and money on the fighters, space which can be used for more gunz *evil laugh* xd
Hmm...they'd take up some cargo room, but on a bulk hauler, that's basically nothing, right? And if they're being really niggardly about space...hmm...hey, how would mounting them on brackets or something, on the hull work? I'd rather have them inside, but I'm wondering if that might work, or work as well (to really cram the most fighters into the carriers xd ).

Outside brackets would work. Look at Carrack cruisers. The most cost effective method would be just to make one of the transports the mothership. As to fighter number, a squadron is usually adequet fighter cover for a convoy, a wing if going through dangerous space. this also depends on the starfighters in question.
