Because I'm apparently a moron, I managed to swallow a chunk of ridiculously hot potato from my soup and swallowed it before I realized just how searingly hot it was.
So as I made gurgly death noises and ran to the sink to get cold water, the chunk of potato went down my throat, burning a swath of painful swollen ow into the inside of it.
I wish I had had the presence of mind at the time to cough it up. But I didn't and now my throat is swollen and really painful. Swallowing is difficult when it is solid food and just mildly ouchy when it's liquids.
Right after my cough fades too.
It feels like it's "Injure and Damage Sophie Month" this January. x_x

Maybe cough drops would help make swallowing less painful? They do seem to have a numbing effect.

cost of trying to get husband well again (so far): $40 (not including the amount of ice water he drank last night) cost of fixing my car (not including towing): $ 400-500, I think. I can't remember if that was the cost plus the stuff they did earlier today, or including it.
Bunch of sensors broke. At least it wasn't the oil pump like we thought.
