According to this list of most profitable trilogies, Star Wars has the #3 and #1 spots.
Oddly, the prequal trilogy made more than the original. This is with no inflation calculated, so it's a simple matter of the original trilogy selling more tickets vs the prequal trilogy making more per ticket.

Another thing that inflation rarely is considering: The number of people actually going to said movies, and relative ability for people to afford the luxury.
Consider that the population of the US has nearly doubled since the seventies.... but eh.

And also the fact that a larger portion of Americans are middle class.
Consider, last year was the first time in history that more than half of the world's population lived in major cities.

Illegals? You mean those people we kindly asked to leave, but they didn't, so we're just sitting here complaining about them and nobody's doing anything about it because everyone else shoots them down if they do?

The guys draining the American economy, as part of a conspiracy for the government to step in and save the day by enforcing regulation over all things involving money, leading to a totalitarianistic nation, ruled by the guys in fancy suits that nobody else can afford anymore?
Or the guys stealing jobs from American citizens, causing a backlash in the economy which puts too many people outta work, forcing us to outsource everything, which includes having to import even our basic needs, all of which come from China, which is trying to kill us through poorly made, death trap products?
