If it wasn't destroying the gulf's ecosystem and the lives of thousands of people, I'd be amused at the sheer stupidity of the BP and government employees.
They had like, 4 failsafes to prevent a leak or explosion from happening. None were working, and the last monthly inspection was back in September of 2007, I believe.
Also, there was never any plan to deal with the issue in the event of an explosion or leak. Took them about two weeks to start fixing the problem (which failed). We're now like, 7 weeks later, and not doing much better.
And then the dispersants they're spraying on the oil to break it up... let's just say it's not much better.
One of those true, rare EPIC FAILURES.
