Kira smiled and said, "Any magic will do it. Though if you hurt my fiancé, I will personally destroy you. I don't care if he is a weakling."

Blair flinched. This was getting awkward. He picked up his coffee and joined Claudette at her table. She smiled as he sat down.

"Hey, Blair," she said, grinning.

"Hi, Claudette," he said, hugging her.

She hugged back, and they broke apart several seconds later. He sipped his coffee as the two chatted.

Kira was irritated. To Svana, she said, "Teach him to be rough. Teach him everything."

Blair was getting more nervous. Claudette was pulling her blade out.

"Makes sense," Baldur agreed. "Most of the other cultures, human and orc mainly, see marriage much like that. Elves are odd in the way they pair off to reproduce. The way I was taught by my parents and the way Svana's people believe, elves are given 'lifemates.' Essentially two destined souls who love and adore each other. My parents were lifemates. Elves wait centuries without starting families simply because they believe they haven't found the right person." He scoffed derisively. "Honestly I think they're all delusional. The mountain elves figured it out. They needed to reproduce quickly so they did it. They had short lifespans, unable to accumulate hearts for longevity, so they made up for it by multiplying quickly. It's probably the way it ought to be. Nobody is 'destined' or 'fated' or any of that nonsense."

He started rebraiding his hair now that it was mostly unknotted and he knocked most of the glitter out of it.

Jelryn probably doesn't know how lucky he is. He seems completely unaffected by Svana's interest in Blair. And his only interest in Blair was academic. Yes, Blair was right in thinking he is a cold man. "I prefer to make people suffer for their misdeeds. Killing doesn't teach them anything," he says to the elven woman. "Besides, turning people into martyrs seems to give them a power beyond the grave. Or, at the very least, inspires those left behind." Then again, he doesn't seem to be very visceral in nature; it's doubtful that he would be interested in feeling the hot blood of his enemies splash across his face.

Turning to look at the strange woman(?) that entered, he examines her critically, paying marked attention to her scaled legs. "You are mistaken; this is no dream, I assure you."

To Kira he nods. "Your fiance is not my enemy; I barely no him. I have no reason to harm him. Though it is good I know the effect; if I didn't I might try to aid or heal him through magic and end up making things worse. Still, it would be interesting if there was a person with such a sensitivity that you were not attached to that I could study."

Svana's grin widened. "I enjoy a good rough tumble. He seems incredibly meek. I'm sure he could use a good lesson. He seems more interested in that Claudette, though," she mused, feeling slighted that Blair simply walked off while she was inspecting him. She shamelessly provoked Kira to retaliate for her.

To Jelryn, she said simply, "Then leave nobody behind to be inspired."

"Interested in Claudette!?" Kira roared with rage. "That's simply not possible! He's MY fiancé! My meal ticket to fame and power! She can't have him! He's elite, he's rich, he's descended from Immortals! He would never be interested in a little pathetic slave like her! It's impossible! They're not meant to be, he and I are!"

Kira was surely going to pounce. Blair waved his hand.

"If it... If it keeps the peace," he said to both Svana and Kira, then gestured to his body, "then... Then... Fine. D-do it."

"That would make me happy!" Kira snapped.

Claudette raised her eyebrows in concern for Blair.

"You don't have to do this, Blair," she said softly.

"I don't have a choice," he said simply, as she rubbed his shoulder.

Svana seriously doubted this boy could scratch her itch, but she was entertained by the unfolding drama. That, and she could read between the lines. She saw the way Blaire and Claudette gravitated together, putting up a front against Kira. Much like Larus and Baldur put up a front against her. Except that Kira didn't have to compromise to make them happy.

She grinned. "He's a delicious little morsel, isn't he. Has he ever been with anyone before? Blair, who was your first?" she asked directly.

"I never had much interest, or patience, for romance," Mynoris admits. "And I'm actually surprised such things catch on. Then again, in a lot of cultures, they leave all the scary information out until it's too late for most girls. Poor things." She shrugs her shoulders.

Then Kira throws another temper tantrum. Mynoris rolls her eyes and stands up. "Your patience and sacrificing nature would have pleased many of the Old Gods," she says to Blair, and bows towards him. Then she sits back down by Baldur.

"What I find hard to believe," he drawls, "is that a woman like Svana actually believes she's got some great, destined love out there. She doesn't strike me as the type. But then again, I've only known her a week."

Baldur didn't put a lot of stock in any of the things his parents taught him when he was young. It was easy to dismiss them once he was on his own out in the world, surrounded and immersed by other cultures. Back with the elves, he wasn't sure what that skewed opinion would evolve into.

Claudette was gently resting her head on his shoulder, and he was holding her hand. He was feeling sick. Blair felt the blood rush to his face, and he was sweating.

"I'm a virgin," he said quietly.

"Not for very long," Kira said, glancing at Svana and winking.

Blair's face was brighter red as the woman complimented him.

"T-thank you, miss," he said. "You're very kind to say such a thing." He didn't know who the old gods were, but he appreciated the gesture.

Svana wasn't surprised. She knew the answer of the question when she asked it. Sliding a look to Kira, she asked, "Are you sure you don't want the first pluck? I don't know what virginity means in your culture. Some take it all too seriously. If not, then I suppose we should go somewhere private. Do you plan on coming along for the lesson?" she asked pleasantly.

"Svana," Baldur called, standing from his chair and turning toward her. "Leave the poor lad alone."

She raised her eyebrows. "I don't believe you're part of this conversation. Besides, this is my wedding gift to Kira. I am her bride-thing after all."

He scowled. "Leave off," he said curtly.

She folded her arms, smirking viciously. "Or what?"

"Never been in love myself," Mynoris says. "I've admired many people, both physically and intellectually, but that emotion that the poets seem to go on and on about, I can't say I've ever felt that way. I mean, to some extent, I loved my children, but that's a different matter altogether. Then again, I was very resentful in my younger years, so I had a bit of a spite against most people. Kinda hard to feel warm and affectionate when you figure everyone is against you." She flicks a glance over to Kira and Svana when she says this.

Then she looks at poor Blair and shakes her head. "No, if I was kind I'd try to stop these two from picking at you like vultures over a fresh kill," she says, perhaps a bit gruffly. "But you seem like a good kid and I thought you should know that." Okay, technically she doesn't look much older than him, so it might seem a strange thing for her to say since he wasn't here when she confessed to her ex-goddesshood.

"I'm content with my current mode of revenge," Jelryn says evenly to Svana. "I studied magic for too long to simply finish everyone off. No, I'm much more interested in drawing things out, making them realize the error of their ways." Besides, he doesn't seem like the kind to enjoy the spatter of his enemies' blood washing over his skin.

As for the little drama over who should, or shouldn't couple with whom, he stays utterly and completely out of it.

Kira's jaw worked in anger as she saw Claudette and Blair being far too friendly for her liking. This was revenge.

"You can take his virginity," Kira said confidently. "I'll watch. I want to make sure you're rough and humiliate him good. If he can still walk when you're done, you haven't done it well enough."

Claudette shifted, wrapping her arms protectively around Blair. He was scared, she knew that much. She wasn't sure how much she could comfort him, but if it came down to it, she would fight Svana for Blair.

"I still appreciate the compliment," Blair said. "I don't think anything will stop either of them. You don't have to try; it'd be a waste of time." He squeezed Claudette's hand.

Svana shrugged to Jelryn. "Suit yourself."

Also brushing off Baldur, she said, "Why don't I get my orc in here? I think you would enjoy that a lot better if you don't want him walking by the time we're through. I'll make sure he knows some useful tricks with his mouth while Urt takes care of the rest," she posed.

"Svana!" Baldur barked.

She rolled her eyes toward him. "What, Baldur, are you volunteering?"

He paused a beat. "Sure."

She blinked. "Come again? You'll help with the wedding gift?"

"No, I'm volunteering for you. You want a quick, rough romp? I'll give you one. You think that kid can do you justice? You leave bloody well out of their business and you can I can try to best each other somewhere private? What do you say?"

She scowled. It was a good proposition. Better than anything else she had gotten all day.
