at one time it might have. now I think its more of a culture than a breed of human. i mean, Jango was mandalorian in name only.

Quote: A Mandalorian is a member of a group of masked warrior clans in the Star Wars universe. Mandalorians are less of a species, and more of a culture: the mandlorians may be a species but if they are there not much different from humans

I believe Mandalorians are culture and species. They're different then we are and as 'Coruscantians' and 'Corelians' Come from Coruscant and Corelia Mandalorians where adopted by Mandalore. And the Mandalores. There they developed a culture of their own.But then they all got murderized by those damned jedi.Only few survived.Jango was adoppted by a Mandalorian by the name of Jaster Mareel and became mandalorian in title and essance.Though he wasn't truly born from a Mandalorian and a stripper.Or...whatever mandalorians have started using to reproduce these days.If I'm correct Jango was from Alderaan therfore he was mandalorian in culture which is almost as good as race.Seeing as how they where basicly a large warrior tribe.Though one of culture can be considered a full Mandalorian as Kex I believe from KotOR spoke of new recruits. It might have been Canderous but I'm not sure.

Canderous was the mandelorian of new recruiting.
However, mandelorians seem to just be a culture. Like africans or asians. Still human though. different homeworld.

Cale Darksun Ok, I have a real discussion topic here. What is a Mandelorian? Is it a Race of humans? or is it a Culture? Mandalorians are a humanoid species evolved from the grey-skinned Taungs of Coruscant. After leaving Coruscant, they began populating worlds such as Concorde Dawn and the planet that would be named Mandalore after the first leader of the Mandalorians, Mandalore I who slew the mythosaurs of Mandalore (planet). Eventually, the Mandalorian warriors started accepting those from other races into their ranks and Mandalorian came to be associated with the fierce warrior culture. More at http://www.starwars.wikicities.com/wiki/MandaloriansTo Nelo: They're not like Hapans. Hapans are simply a group of near-humans who evolved from the Human race due to their isolation from the rest of the galaxy. When someone says Hapan, they are most likely reffering to the near-human species that inhabits the Hapes Consortium rather than any inhabitant of said Consortium. It is vice-versa for Mandalorians, when one says Mandalorian they usually mean everyone of the culture rather than the species.

Umm... Hapans are Humans, FP. According to the Official SW guide, they simply are humans who practiced isolation from the rest of the universe.
It would be like someone saying they were chinese in the early 1800s when the british came a knocking.
Hapans are not a different species, simply a different ethinicity. even that's an overstatement. They are really only humans with a very closed system of matriarchial totalitarian government.
I doubt that mandelorians are really that much different as well.

Wookieepedia says otherwise.
According to them, Hapans are as much of an offshoot of Humans as Neimodians are of Duros.

FrozenPhoenix32 Wookieepedia says otherwise. According to them, Hapans are as much of an offshoot of Humans as Neimodians are of Duros. Then wookieepedia is wrong. The Hapans were simply a bunch of pirates who crash landed on Hapes. Since the women survived, they decided not to let men take any more risks. But it says: Species: Human. Not Species: Hapan. Plus, there is no evidence they are an offshoot. Nemoidians have psysiological differences from Duros. Genetically, a hapan is identical to a human, making them the same species. Otherwise, The Courtship of Princess Leia would be de-canonized... To say the two are different races would be the equivalent of someone taking a dolphin as a wife.... Even a monkey, the closest relative of the human, is genetically incompatatible with a human. Hence, the two races of human and hapan must be identical, as the only reason for taking a bride was to secure the line of the royal family, which also means bearing children.

Direct Quote: Wookieepedia Hapans were the near-human natives of the Hapes Cluster. On the surface, they were identical to Humans, but possessed poor night vision and were considered on the whole to be more beautiful than Humans.

The way I see it, to say that Mandelorians are a separate species of human is to give that same title to Corellians. they don't call Han Solo a human, the Call him a Corellian.
