Weather: A gentle, chilled drizzle falls from the gray clouds, strangling the remaining light of the sun slowly setting in the west. The gentle, quiet rumble of thunder can barely be heard by those with superior hearing, but rumble it does as lightning strikes the sky far across the nearby water.
Time: 5:30 in the evening.

Rodger knelt in front of the fridge, a bag of frozen green beans sitting on top of a pack of raw chicken in his hand. Grabbing a tub of butter with his free hand, his head turns to look behind him as the sound of footsteps stop in the doorway.
“Would you mind if we helped?” Jarod asked, a smile lighting the boy’s young face.
Rodger returned the boy’s smile as he straightened.
“Help would be great!” Rodger closed the fridge door with his foot, placed the food items on the counter, and opened a cabinet to pull out a deep pan.
[If no one minds, I think a short time skip is in order. Let me know of any objections via PM and I will change this.]
Blinking away the remainder of sleep clouding her vision, Saiirin raised her small, silver head, her nose sniffing eagerly. The smell of cooking chicken filled the air, tantalizing her nostrils and threatening to make her salivate.
The small dragon blinks once more and looks at Karinda in the gray light filtering in through a curtained window. The girl laid curled atop the bed, her arms beneath her head and chest rising and falling slowly with the rhythm of sleep.
A pang of hunger passes through the dragon’s stomach, making her growl in irritation.
Karinda, Saiirin thought to the girl, standing and stretching her body like a cat, her wings unfurling to their full span.
With an irritated snort at Karinda’s lack of response, Saiirin carefully walked from the pillow to nuzzle Karinda’s cheek. Karinda! Awaken!
Karinda groaned. “’Tis only a moment hath passed in slumber,” she grumbled, her words nearly indiscernible amidst the garble of grogginess. “Grant me naught but a few further moments of sleep.”
And ’tis hunger that hath gripped me in thy past moment. Saiirin pushes Karinda’s head with her snout, making the girl groan and swat at the dragon. With a growl, Saiirin nipped at Karinda, her teeth gripping the girl’s fingers gently, yet firmly.
Muttering unintelligibly, Karinda pried her eyes open and glared at Saiirin. She opened her mouth to speak, but instead looked to the door, her nose sniffing at the air. Rubbing her eyes, Karinda pulled her fingers from Sairrin's mouth. She stood, crossed the room, and opened the door. Looking first to one end of the hall then the other to the living room, Karinda stepped out into the hallway with Saiirin trotting behind her, the dragon her full nearly two feet in length.
Karinda yawned as she entered the living room, her hand running through her hair, a few strands sticking out at odd angles.
Her gaze shifted to the large window, a couple drops of rain splashing against the windowpane. With a glance to where Rodger, Jarod, and Loki moved about in the kitchen, Karinda altered her path and went to the large window.
With a snort, Saiirin glided to the window ceil as Karinda placed her hand on the wood beneath the glass. Her eyes scanned the tops of the couple smaller buildings before a taller one obstructed her view of the cloudy horizon. The gloomy light of the fading day bathed the cars and few others walking about in a gray, wet haze.
The strangeness of it all still took her breath away; the severe contrast between the world she knew seemingly less than a day past and the one she stumbled into made her head spin.
Leaning her weight on the wooden ledge of the window, Karinda took a deep breath, bent her head, and closed her eyes.
((I apologize if I break my rule of past tense. I ended up taking a class where writing had to be in present tense, and it was a really long project. I am still trying to break that habit, and went back and caught a couple tense mistakes. Also, Rikku, I cannot recall if I told you already, but if you need to, you are welcome to take control of the character Shen since the player quit. I believe he was an elf. Merry Christmas, all!))

((you remembered to make her hungery biggrin that is a side effect of the mushroom she ate in the morning....and her tail may or may not grow tomorrow, we is not sure yet as it has not yet happened.....
plushy is walking the old people home again, and we wait for 7:00 some, time of bon fire (and bad weather).... smile ))
((OOC- Thank you Scath, and I will apologize beforehand if his personality is not exactly what people wanted, after all, the only things I have to go on is the very little I have knowledge about him. Let me know if you want me to try to play him a little differently, also I will not be able to post untill after new years as I am super busy with work :'( sorry dears.))

Jarod had been watching every one of Roger's moves and offering help every chance he could. Loki, for the most part, was there to make sure Jarod wasn't being more of a bother than a helping hand. "Are we almost done?" Jarod asked Roger. He felt his mouth water as the smell of the now-cooking food reached his nose. Chicken, butter... eh, green beans... it was a bit too much for his body to keep quiet for. Despite the fact that he had already had a small meal with his mother, he could feel his stomach getting ready to start making noise. Loki could almost see what Jarod was thinking, and laughed. "Be patient, Jarod. I'm sure it'll be worth any wait when it is finished." Although she wasn't hungry, Loki thought she wouldn't mind a taste once the others sat down for the meal.
Loki turned to glance at the window through the kitchen doorway, and saw Karinda standing there, as well as Saiirin. She turned to check on Jarod once more, then walked slowly over to these new acquaintances, making sure to stop a few feet away. It was always good to give someone space. "Hello," she said softly, not wanting her possible interruption of anything to be too terribly sudden. "Raining outside, is it? I hope Jarod doesn't decide he wants to go out and play. I'm going to have quite the time trying to get him to stay out of any puddles tomorrow."
