Tython

"You're looking for someone off-world..."

The possibility that Master Joelk might want Seron to accompany abruptly struck him. He slowed his stride and stopped. Turned.

"And you're requesting me?"

Seron left it open as a question. It was hard to call this coincidence. He'd stake his blaster on the bet that it wasn't. The question was: Was Master Joelk-- Sam-- requesting Seron's presence as a Mandalorian, or was she inviting him along as a potential padawan? Seron worded the question so that she'd have to clarify or avoid answering it.

Sam

When Seron stopped Sam followed suit and paused to look at him while he poised the question. He was probing, unsure, and she was unsure of how much of an answer to give him, or how much of one was available. If he tried to inquire much further then she wasn't sure she'd even want to consider bringing him along... but then again, an inquisitive mind was one of the things to look for in a padawan.

She hated it when Ronyo was right.

"Let's not jump the gun." She replied coolly, "I'm asking you to help me get off this rock. Let's keep it simple and start there."

So, Master Joelk was just as unsure of the possibility of Seron being her padawan as he was, if she wasn't, in fact, reluctant to take him on. Dejection dripped through him. He hadn't realized how anxious he had been about the possibility until now. Not until he'd perceived the the likelihood of him becoming a padawan as small. He wouldn't let that frustration filter through, though. He was a servant of the Jedi. There was no room for resentment between him and a Master.

"Well, technically, I command a ship of my own," Seron said. "It's property of, formerly, the Jedi Strike Forces. The Serrated Edge, an MC40a light cruiser. Mon Cal design. It's a medium-sized warship that was absorbed into the Jedi Order among a several other assets, when most of the Mandalorians decided to depart Tython. Ordinarily, we'd need express from permission from Grand Master Storm or the Jedi Council to depart the system with it."

Seron studied Master Joelk's eyes, trying to glean any feelings or intent out of her. Perhaps, if he could prove how useful he would be to her, she'd reconsider taking him under her tutelage.

"The Jedi, however, aren't adept at writing and policing military procedure, no offense" Seron remarked. "There's a crater-sized loophole when it comes to taking a ship's starfighter compliment, though, which can prove convenient for us if you're looking to keep this low-key."

Otherwise, Seron noted, he wouldn't be escorting Master Joelk off-world for very long. There were a few shuttles and starfighters that she could requisition herself, if she wanted to.

Tython ~ Training Ground

Anya passed with frustration and kicked a rock into the water. She ignored the urgings of the holographic green Jedi and continued to pace, working her thoughts into conducive thought patterns. She grumbled that her Master would leave her out here and wished something would attack her so that she could do something. This time could be better spent learning or fighting. It pained her to be wasting time while he ran some meaningless errand back at the Temple. She should be receiving training. She paused when she realized she was putting her needs above someone else's. This isn't how a Jedi is supposed to think, she thought to herself. Then she remembered back to the tree punching lesson and remembered the anger and pain that drove her to finish her exercise. I wasn't acting like a Jedi then, either. More memories flooded her, of being scolded and punished, of despising her punishers, of her thinking she was better than her fellow classmates. The realizations hit her like a ton of durasteel. She sunk onto an overturned tree and rested her hands on her head. She couldn't fathom an explanation for her behavior. Perhaps this is what Master Storm was hoping for. He was hoping I'd realize this and come to grips with it. Behave like a good little Jedi. What he didn't realize was I enjoyed feeling better than others. I enjoy conflict. I relish in being the center of attention. She stood up and glanced at her astral protectors. Beacons of the Light side, they were. She despised them too. She wanted more than anything to get off this rock. But she knew, she knew she still needed the Jedi. She couldn't make due with this vibrosword. She needed a lightsaber. Hardening her mind, she began to rehearse her story, so as to convince her master that she had seen the err of her ways. Convince him she was ready for a lightsaber. The sooner she built her weapon, the sooner she could get off this rock and find her way... somewhere. Sh knew she didn't want to go to the Sith. They were just as rigid, if not worse with rules. And you had to swear fealty to those stronger than you. No, she wanted freedom, not to go from one liege to another. She could make it on her own. The skills a Jedi possessed could get her far. Money, power... she could have whatever she wanted. And, except for the scar that marred her arm, she was young and beautiful; she could use her body to accomplish what the Force could not. Setting herself upon this realization, she continued rehearsing her story, prepared to face her Master again.

Malo

Malo let out a slow breath as her ship exited hyperspace. She'd be needing somewhere safe to port, a place she could trust leaving her ship while she arranged the delivery and go an estimate of repairs for her baby. Fortunately, Coruscant boasted many of them. The smuggler was only interested in one, however, and getting into it would be tricky.

Auto-pilot disengaged automatically once the ship entered real-space fully and she took the controls into her hands, gripping them tightly and then relaxing. It was difficult to put out of her thoughts the damage behind her in the cockpit and down the corridor, but she'd have to. Remembering things from before Anzat was difficult enough without her emotions rising up to challenge her. Taking the route slow and giving herself time for her memory to catch up, Malo piloted near enough the large space station, Missing Score.

Immediately her proximity was challenged, or questioned as the Republic would say, and she resisted the temptation to roll her eyes. She'd been in Hutt space for too long to remember how she'd once appreciated and enforced the protocols of Republic space. After a moment of hesitation and a second identification request Malo responded with an old, once forgotten, call sign. "Jedi Knight Malo Sundancer." Sunrider wasn't in the official records with the Republic military, but Sundancer was. The codes she sent were also old, but she hoped they still checked out. At the very least they would be confirmed as being operational once. "I request a meeting with ... Commander Cole Barranks. It's of the utmost importance." It is Commander now, isn't it? She wondered, trying to recall the bits of information that was traded freely in her favorite watering holes.

With any luck she'd get a response, and hopefully direction, before the Sith in the box woke up.

Sam

Sam frowned. Ignoring the thoughts of disappointment she sensed from the Mandalorian, she considered the possibilities of riding shotgun on a ship of the likes he had described. Formidable, sure, but she didn't relish the though of the level of reception that kind of ship would attract. The cost of feul and number of persons that would be present was another matter altogether...

"No" She said, shaking her head. That wasn't what she wanted. She didn't want a group, or even a pair, of fighters even. Sighing, Sam crossed her arms over her chest. "You certainly are't making this easy, are you?" The question was rhetorical, but she half suspected he would respond to it anyways so she continued before he could. "How about a shuttle or a light freighter?" Or anything that will get from A to B without its own gravitational pull.

Tython/ Jedi Temple

Returning to the Temple had taken the Jedi less time than the trip out but still it was time he wished was better on his side. It was a sign showing that time was starting to become an enemy rather than a friend as it had been for what seemed like not nearly long enough. The time away from his Padawan was indeed a test in itself one he was not sure she was ready for or understood as it seemed she missed several of the deeper meaning behind his training. She looked for combat when there was none to be had and instead or wishing to never have the need for a lightsaber she yearned for it. Ronyo could understand the desire to hold in your own hand the burning blade that was a Jedi's weapon, but something told the Jedi that it was not for the same reasons.

Ronyo had taken up his lightsaber so that other would not have to, so that others could go about being what a Jedi should be rather than what the galaxy forced them to be, so that when the darkside once again reared it's devilish head he would be there to either chop it off or push it back. Now Ronyo worried for his new Padawan as he did for many of the new Jedi coming into this phase in their lives ready to see yet another conflict and be pushed aside from the true path of a Jedi.

*****

Jynx and her squad had taken up position to watch over the Republic soldier and the delegates who had come. She wondered why they had decided to stay in the shuttle rather than the comforts of a room but she was never one to really argue against someone's personal choice. The Mandalorian stood hoping that her message, if she could really call having a Jedi send what she could only describe as a force phone call to a wolf a message, had reached Ronyo and he would be back soon.

Seeing Cole approach her with the look of a man with a plan and a mission had the woman slightly on guard but given the man's situation she relaxed a bit relying on her girls to watch her back. It wasn't anything personal against the soldier but then Mando never really trusted anyone they had not fought alongside. Jynx looked around to hopefully see the Jedi she had been waiting for to come in and make some sense out of all this mess. It never seemed like there was a Jedi around when...

*****

Ronyo turned the corner to see the captain of his personal squad being approached by a man Ronyo knew. It was Cole, so this was the person of interest that had called his attention from his training if it had been anyone else from the Republic Ronyo might have turned right around and left Jynx to handle the situation. With a smile Ronyo addressed the soldier and the captain warm greetings.

"Cole it has been a long time, I hope you forgive my tardiness but I was attending to my new Padawan. Captain thank you for looking after them, as always you perform your duties well. Have the girls take some rest and then prep for leave I have a feeling it will be necessary soon."

"Yes Master Storm, it's about time we got off this green rock. I hope were going somewhere nice," Jynx smiled and gave a nod to both Ronyo and Cole before moving out and her squad followed.

"Now what is it you came all this way to talk about sir," Ronyo addressed Cole once again with a smile

Missing Score, In Orbit Around Coruscant

"Jedi Knight Malo Sundancer... I request a meeting with... Commander Cole Barranks... It's of the utmost importance."

"Sundancer... It's an old code. Not valid anymore. Was wiped after Ossus five years ago..."

Lieutenant Liono didn't even look up from his console as he said it. Lieutenant Saul Slade, XO of the Missing Score, neither averted his gaze from the view screen, which was centered on the freighter that had just arrived in-system.

"Send two fighters out to buzz them," Saul ordered. "Shake them up a little bit."

Two of the crossfire starfighters patrolling around the Missing Score veered off from their flight path and jetted toward the inbound freighter. They each fired twice on the freighter.

"Jedi Knight Malo Sundancer, your codes do not check out," Saul replied. "Power down your engines and deflectors completely and prepare to be towed. Any deviation from that instruction will result in your immediate destruction."

Tython

Cole was struck with the feeling of being small as the Jedi Grand Master approached him. Even feeling perturbed about how he was late, Cole still felt as though he were unnecessarily small compared to the Grand Master's achievements and prestige among his people, at such a young age.

"" Cole said. ""

Cole was plain and direct in his words. He couldn't spend much more time on Tython. He was needed back on Coruscant.

Tython ~ Training Ground

Anya grew tired of her pacing and finally settled down into a sitting position in front of the projection of the little green Jedi Master. She drew in a deep breath and struggled to clear her mind. Several more deep breaths later, she opened her mind to the Living Force around her and found her mind clearing easier. Finally, she opened her eyes and fixed them on the Jedi Master. "Master, I know there are other Force using organizations in the galaxy. Could you tell me about a few of them?" She was honestly curious about the universe.

Coruscant main street Senate sector, looking out on apartment complex

Long slender fingers combed through dark hair, a frustrated sigh was uttered with a tiresome disdain. The Senator aide had promised to see to it that the datapad would be brought first thing to office for review. Now, instead of blowing up somewhere important, the explosive had merely dealt damage to some meaningless luxurious housing and the people that lived inside, just seconds ago.

Ensis watched the flames waving out the window, as panicked screams died down and more and more people came to stare at the tragedy. The situation was most tragic indeed, for this would surely tighten security and raise the suspicions of Republic personnel. Then again, it was but a minor setback. Sure, it would've been most wonderful had this attempt killed some people of importance, but she guessed this would get the job done well enough. To let the Republic know they were never safe, at any place. Paranoia is a weapon more powerful in war than some would suspect it to be.

However, the Republic wasn't her biggest concern in this war, just the easiest target to get at. Thankfully, she'd gotten her hands on a pawn that was more than capable of being used for whom she really wanted to get at. An adorable little Mandalorian that claimed not only to have the means to reach Tython, but also the skill to take down the Grand Master himself. She certainly did possess the hatred required to see that mission through, even knowing that such a mission would not be one from which she would return.

Turning around, Ensis walked away towards the taxi zone, pulling out a small holo-communicator as she did so.

Coruscant, lower cities.

Scrambling up to her knees, she quickly rubbed her hand over her hurting jaw, only then noticing the blood that trickled down a small gash on her forehead, over her hand.

She glared behind her at the closing door, catching one last glimpse of the Weequay that had thrown her out, before she pushed herself back to her feet, spitting on the ground.

"Yea, well your Cantina smells like a Bantha ranch anyway, sleemo!" She yelled at the door. "Shab, I've had it with this kriffing place..." She muttered, brushing the dirt of her arms. She considered heading back inside to get her point across just how badly she disliked this place, when a small beep went off on her utility belt.

She held up the communicator from her belt and turned it on. A small holo-image of Darth Ensis appeared hovering above the device, causing the woman to bow her head down in respect.

"At your service, my Lady."

"It's time." The small image spoke. "Your ship will have been re-supplied by the time you get there. I want you to leave immediately." The small image paused for a moment, before adding one last thing before it turned off. "You'll be doing the Empire a great service, don't disappoint us now."

Quietly she attached the device back to it's holder. At last the moment was here, the moment for which she had waited five long years. How could she disappoint anyone in this? After all, it was a matter of family honor.

Taking a short break to clear her mind, she took one last deep breath before she finally went on her way towards the turbo lift, heading for the Spaceport.
It was time for Elysia Arellan to hunt her final prey.

Tython/ Jedi Temple

"An Armada...to Coruscant..."

Ronyo's thoughts suddenly drifted to one of his lessons with the holocron of master Gnost-Dural, about the times of the Old Republic. He recalled the telling of the sacking of Coruscant and the destruction of the Jedi temple. Would the Sith really be willing to try such a bold action against the Republic so openly and defiantly? With the lack of information they had received over the last few months on the Sith it was highly possible they were waiting...waiting for a moment maybe.

"Commander Barranks I would like you to return on one of the Jedi transports with a Mandalorian escort. If the Sith are deciding to emerge from their shadows then we will so to emerge from the light to help stop it. I just hope you understand what this could mean, an open confrontation with the Republic and Jedi against the Sith, I hope the Republic is ready for the toll this could take on them; militarily, economically, and socially," Ronyo took a moment before he spoke again thinking about were things might need to be taken and the measures he would have to take himself, "I think it will be best if after your initial arrival that the Jedi be brought in small numbers from non-military and Jedi ships. We will do everything we can to hide our presence from the Sith, I think it's time the darkside got surprised for once. I may be behind in the initial arrival of forces for I have some things I will need to see to before I arrive myself, and my presence will be hard to mask."

Campsite

As the small green alien sat and felt the impatient young woman mill about her emotions and thought he gave a small sigh, to subtle to be noticed as he understood what was being tossed around in that young Padawan head. At the question about other force using factions the Jedi looked up and slowly stood up with the help of its cane, leaning heavily on it as he got one foot under him to push up from.

"Others of the Force you say, wish to know about them you do? Regardless of label the Force is light and dark, futile changing the name is. Power...strength...these are things a Jedi does not seek but obtains through patients. Impatients leads to anger, anger leads to fear, fear...leads to the darkside," Those small old eyes looked at the woman who was likely close to proving the green aliens point but with an upraised hand he cut off any words she might have wished to say, "Many are the numbers of those who claim the Force as their tool, but this is not the truth for never a tool is the Force. Many are the numbers who see the Force as magic, but arcane the Force is not for it resides in everything. Those who call themselves Aing-Tii, a rainbow is how they perceive the Force, The Fallanassi flow with the force like a leaf in a river, confused and mis-guided the Jensaarai were about the dark and light, and then there are some see the Force as only for themselves and no other like the ancient Voss of long ago," With a pause the old alien took a few steps towards the woman, "Your feelings...tell me much young one, conflicted, troubled, feelings of doubt and inadequacies I sense...carefully you must treed young one, the Force it can be easy to lose one self in. If my words from before you do not wish to hear...I pray you hear these...A Jedi does what he does not for himself but so others do not have to, so that everyone else a life they may live. A Jedi relinquishes all that one would call a life and gives it to the galaxy, do this so that the galaxy may live."

Tython ~ Campsite

Anya listened closely to the little green Jedi Master as he spoke of a few different groups of Force users, remarking inwardly that the Aing-Tii and the Fallanassi sounded the most interesting. The Jensaarai sounded like the Jedi, describing the Force in terms of two shades. She didn't see it that way. Then the Master mentioned her feelings and she quickly hardened herself as best as she could. Despite being able to keep out her classmates and a few older students, she knew a Master like him could pick through her brain. She hoped that the projection would let the issue dissipate. "A Jedi acts for others," she said and rose from her sitting position. "What if the others don't deserve our help?" she asked, hypothetically. She walked to the edge of the lake and turned back to the projection. "And what if I don't want to put others before myself? What if there are things I want to do for myself?" she asked, then snorted. "No, I have to put others before myself. Maybe I don't have what it takes to be a Jedi then." She reached out to the Living Force around and drew in strength from the forest.

Tython

"There are a few shuttles that we can take from here or else the cruiser I mentioned," Seron suggested.

The ones aboard his ship were small, fast and produced by MandalMotors. A two-person shuttle, Seron could them from Tython to orbit and back in three hours. And that-- Seron just remembered a snag. There Serrated Edge's shuttles didn't hyperdrives.

"We'll have to take transport from here, ma'am-- Sam," Seron added before Master Joelk could say anything else. "Unless you want the Mandalorian border watch to know exactly where you're headed... I'm getting the feeling you want this exit kept low-key."

Missing Score

Saul watched as one of the crossfire fighters swooped around and under "Malo Sundancer's" freighter. The other fighter maintained position behind the freighter so it could blast it into space should it prove necessary.

"Sir, we're receiving data from the Coruscant Security Force Divisional Headquarters," Lieutenant Liono reported.

"Put it on one of the lower screens," Saul ordered.

As per his instructions, a news feed showed up alongside a scrolling window being transmitted from the CSF.

"What is this, Lieutenant?" Saul asked.

"CSF is on the scene and doing what they can, but it's been ninety minutes, sir," Liono said. "The Anti-Terrorist unit is saying all they're doing is dragging bodies out of the building."

"And they're contacting us in case this turns out to be worse than it is?" Saul asked.

From what the XO could tell, this was just a tragic incident where the usually extremely efficient fire-retardant systems didn't kick in properly. In no way shape or form a military concern.

"They're following up on leads, as we speak," Liono explained.

Evidently, the Junior Lieutenant had taken his tone to be one of irritation.

"Keep me posted if they find anything that should be of direct concern to us," Saul ordered.

"Yes, sir."

Tython

Cole clicked his jaws together irritably. Apparently, he wasn't clear enough.

"" Cole said impatiently, feeling the tension increase with his words. "
""

Cole's wings fluttered underneath his armor. It was rare for him to get so angry that he lost control of his bodily functions without noticing. It had been over a decade since Cole had been so upset as to instinctively lift off the floor to above who he was speaking to. The weight of his armor prevented any prolonged lift-off, but he felt much lighter on his feet as he struggled to get his wings to still.

Disbelief was starting to roll over him about the fact that he'd just talked down to the Jedi Grand Master. What happened to the days where he held their order in such high regard? Had their absence from Coruscant really been such an out-of-sight, out-of-mind for Cole?
