It's vacuum forming. This site explains a good deal. Plus an additional 10 minutes of research, you should have a good understanding about it.

Indeed, I just learned of it. I thought they were sold, and never really pondered how they were made. You're right 100%, this needs commitment. I plan on taking it slow, though. One piece at a time, with perfection.

Haven't decided on color pattern. Weathered or not, stormtrooper or black hole.
