Hey, lay off. A kid can dress like a bouncing anthropomorphic vegetable superhero for Halloween if he darn well pleases.
And really? Larry? Phallic? That has got to be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. He's a cucumber. He's cucumber shaped. Monster dressed up like him because he liked the character, not because he was a "phallic symbol." stare
I have no issue with a kid dressing up as a vegetable, it just shocks me. If a kid were to dress up as a carrot, I would be just as shocked. The anthropomorphic part of it just means that they're dressed up as a talking, kind-of-human vegetable....and if actual vegetables were to talk to me....I'd be very freaked out.
And cucumbers are a somewhat phallic-ally shaped vegetable. I know that Monster didn't dress as Larry because he looked phallic, if I did, I would have to be extremely stupid. Honestly, I'd expect a teenage boy with a "Beavis and Butthead" idea of humor to do that, not Monster.
Please give me more credit.
I think anybody would be freaked out if a vegetable really started talking. xD But it's just make believe. Kids dress up as lots of things people'd be scared to see in real life, like ghosts or devils or murderers.
Sorry, I figured you wouldn't really think that about Monster. I was just mad that you'd interject Freudian thought into what is a part of Monster's (and my) childhood. I really don't like looking at the world the way Freud did. For me, a phallus is a phallus and a cucumber is a cucumber.

Between 9:00-9:30 is the most hilarious videogame car crash i've seen in a long time!!

^_^ How are you today? (She's sung "I don't Like You" and been in "This is Love" by Will.i.am and "Take Over Control" by Afrojack, if you've heard any of those. If not, no worries.)

Yeah, but it's the anthropomorphic things that usually mess with people's heads the worst.....and because, honestly...I just really don't like vegetables. At all. I hate eating them. They taste awful to me. Almost all of them...especially anything leafy....or squash-y....or crunchy....really, all of them. Except potatoes. ^_^;; Yep....I'm very weird....
I try to avoid Freud at ALL costs. Because he was wrong on a lot of things and quite frankly, he irked me. But if I see something and it happens to remind me of anything like that, such as a banana, I will acknowledge that it looks like that. Plus, my childhood was filled with Monty Python and Spaceballs....which might be partly why I see so easily how something is viewed in a sexual way....or as I say "my mind's not in the gutter, it IS the gutter".....which it is. I see almost any and all possible double entandres for completely innocent things....^_^;; Which has made for some interesting conversations....I swear, it's not like I try, I just see them and suck at keeping the realization off of my face...>_<;;

Doesn't mess with my head. neutral You probably wouldn't like Tokidoki then. xD Everything is anthropomorphized. And Veggie Tales never had anything to do with actually eating vegetables. xD The whole reason it was about vegetables and fruit was because computer animation was brand new at the time (1993) and not all that sophisticated to work with. So they decided to use something more simple. Tomatoes and grapes and asparagus models are a lot easier to render than human models. But people usually enjoy it for the characters and stories, not because they like vegetables.
I hate him too. He was influential, but that's about it. His theories were bulls***. And of course you're gonna make those connections if you're always thinking about that kind of thing (that's why Freud saw it)... Your mind doesn't have to be the gutter though. ^^;;

owo Well, I grew up on the animated CGI vegetables, so it's hilarious to me. I think I even dressed up as Larry-Boy one Halloween as a kid.

Oh no, I love tokidoki. They don't talk. Plus, they're all chibi and cute....and I love cute things....like Hello Kitty. And I had never considered that they chose vegetables because they were simpler. Which, now that I know that, it makes so much sense.
Yeah....Though, he made a great finger puppet christened "Siggy from the Hood" (my sister named the puppet that.) And like I said, it's not like I try....well, not all the time (sometimes, it is fun to come up with double entandres. *shrugs* ).....I am just very good at seeing them. I think a lot more like a guy, most of the time, actually. And by "Like a guy" I mean in the somewhat more stereotypical ways. But, yeah. I actively try to keep my mind out of the gutter most of the time.....and fail nearly always. ^_^;;
