"They are rather smitten with each other..." The earl sighed, his arms crossed over his chest as he looked out the window. "I have never seen her glowing like that before."

"Rather," agreed the Duchess. Her tone was dismayed. "Do you suppose that they'll ever marry?" she sighed, her eyes misting. "It's all good and well now, I suppose, but I am growing older, and none of the other boys have even seemed to consider settling down..."

The earl shrugged. "In all honesty, I have given up on the hopes of seeing Terryn in a wedding gown." He sighed. "It would be nice though."

"And they're so terribly adamant about not marrying. I suppose the only thing left for us to do is keep pushing them together until they agree." However, the Duchess's voice seemed to have withered, and she was visibly depressed by the thought of never seeing her great-grandchildren. Well, the ones that weren't bastards.

The earl put his arm around the duchess's shoulder and gave her a comforting squeeze. "Do not worry, I am sure one day they will open their eyes."

She mustered a small smile for the Earl's sake. "We can always hope." She didn't mean to sound dry, but she was unable to make herself sound sincere. "Should we call them in?"

"No...come I feel the need for some tea." The earl gave her a smile and patted her hand as he led her from the window.

"If we did run away," began Marcus, in a drowsy sort of voice, "It wouldn't have to be for very long." He paused. "It wouldn't really be running away...just taking a vacation that was unannounced."

Terryn nodded. "That is true. And...perhaps we could buy some rings and pretend that we had gotten married...just to appease everyone else that is." She bit on her bottom lip for a moment. "That way, if rumours about us flew up again, it would not be such a scandal."

Marcus furrowed his brow again. "Yes, I suppose." He thought for a moment. "Or I could arrange for a rumor to be spread that I was planning to propose to you, and everyone would leave us alone completely." Marcus was, of course, not at all comfortable with the very notion of him being regarded as married.

"Yes...that might work." Terryn grinned. "And thanks to the good king and his Anglican church, we could always divorce if it did not work out."
((that's right! we're now in the time period of Louis VIII))

OOC: Of France? I thought we were in England?
Marcus laughed. "Thank goodness for that. Lucky, then, that neither of us will be getting married."

((im sorry...i meant Henry VIII))
"Indeed. Saves us quite a bit of trouble." Terryn leaned in and kissed him, feeling rather excited all of a sudden. "So when do we leave?"

Marcus glanced at the window. No one was watching them. "We could leave as soon as now, if you'd like. The coach is outside. I have a few clothes and things at each estate, and you could pack right now. The circumstances, it seems, could not possibly be improved upon."

"I-" Terryn looked up at him, almost a little apprehensive. She had not been expecting such a sudden departure. "But where shall we go?"
