Kira wrenched herself away from her table-boyfriend.

"Burk ter nurmurl," she murmured.

She raised her arm, and she was sober. The vomit was disappearing, too. But the glitter and confetti were staying. She liked them far too much, sober or drunk, to get rid of them.

"Sometimes they did, but not very often," Mynoris says. "I mean, the high priests of many of the Gods saw their deities in person, even if briefly, but the bulk of the mortals never saw a whisper of whether we were real or not. I always had a very small mortal following, though I did spend a lot of time watching them." Her expression darkens for a few moments though, as a troubling thought crossed her mind.

"Much better, thank you," Svana replied cheerfully. "I'm not so sure the table would be able to reciprocate much, anyway."

The glitter still drifted from the ceiling, covering everything. It was better than snow, if a little garish.

Raising his staff, the man caused a gust of wind to blow gently away from him, moving any glitter away from his vicinity. He doesn't look at all impressed or amused. In fact, his expression is neutral save for a tiny hint of annoyance. Finally he speaks.

"What is this place?" he asks. His voice is quiet, only having enough volume to be heard clearly. He says the words with care in a clean, crisp tone. It's not a very deep voice, but it's far from being feminine.

Well, there couldn't be very many elves for his gods to look after, but then again, they supposedly didn't care much until they made it to the afterlife. Batting glitter off his shoulders and out of his hair, he concluded that he would simply never know.

"Most other gods seem to be more involved with their followers anyway. I'll know when I die," he sighed.

There was glitter literally everywhere. He ignored the newcomer's question, although Svana didn't.

"You're between worlds, it seems, my friend. Welcome to the madness."

"She seems friendly," he muttered suspiciously.

The man stares at Svana for a few moments, then he bows his head deeply in a show of respect. At least, it's a show on his world. Straightening himself back up, he leans slightly on his staff.

"Thank you for the answer. I had heard whispers of theories that such things were possible, but such abilities are beyond my powers. Someone else must have brought me here." Still he speaks in a very clean, clipped tone.

He glances over at Kira, who obviously has some sort of power, though he looks doubtful that she was the one who summoned him. No one else in the room seemed to be a likely candidate either as far as he could discern.

Mynoris raises her glass to Baldur again. "May that day be far away from now," she says with a grin. "Especially if your Gods are such jerks." Her grin becomes downright irreverent. An irreverent ex-goddess...who knew? "Death wasn't so bad in my world, but then again, I fully admit to being completely biased."

Leaving the sanctuary of under the table, Svana stood, hopping up on top of it instead to let her long legs swing, eyeing the stranger appreciatively. She hadn't been kidding about wanting a good roll. It wasn't unusual for her to crave companionship after battle.

"Who knows. Maybe you're here for a reason," she suggested, blithely unaware that she was still covered in drying, flaking blood. At least her cheek was no longer ripped open.

Baldur nodded in agreement to Mynoris. He didn't want to admit that he feared that unknown. "You're right. Let's hope that day comes a long time from now."

Blair Prescott swung the door of the cafe open, and he peered inside curiously. His blue-grey colored contacts were itching, but he didn't take them out. Instead he ran his fingers through his dyed mop of light red and black hair that fell in his face under his beanie hat. He was tall and had a skinny build with pale skin. Covered in rain, he hurried to the counter, keeping his head bent low.

"Hot chocolate, if you have it," he said to the waiter as he put some money on the counter.

He perched on a chair at the bar while he waited for his drink. He saw Kira out of his peripheral, but even from there he could smell the alcohol and vomit, and judging by the confetti and glitter, she had been drinking again. She did not approach him, nor did he approach her. Claudette, he saw, was sitting with a strange man who had plenty of glitter and confetti on him, though she was brushing some of it off of him. He did not approach her either.

Just his luck, he thought. Kira and Claudette together in the same room. That ought to be interesting.

Kira's heart was racing as she saw Blair. She was so excited to finally see him, she couldn't keep from doing a happy little dance. Something was weighing on his mind, she noticed, as she made eye contact with her. He was not going to be happy with the glitter and confetti or the fact that she was drinking rather heavily.

The boy who walked his had Kira's undivided attention, and after scanning around, he landed on her. Svana studied him curiously. Money apparently was a good motivator.

"Is that the rich kid you're in love with?" she cooed toward Kira, leaning over to see back under the table she sat on, the ends of her dark hair falling over one shoulder.

"Yes," Kira said breathlessly. "I can't believe he's here! Oh, he must have missed me so much! Ah, what took him so long?"

She looked at Svana. "You want to meet him, or are you still trying to get laid?"

Svana grinned over at him. "I can multi-task," she assured her, hoping to meet the poor lad that Kira had her claws in. "Not asking because I'm personally interested, but he any good in the sack?" she mused, nodding toward Blair. She hoped the best for her odd little friend.

"We haven't slept together yet," Kira mumbled, her face red.

Pushing that aside, she grabbed Svana's hand and dragged her to the counter where Blair was having a pleasant conversation with the waitstaff as they prepared his hot chocolate.

"It's been a long day," the server was saying as he frothed the milk with the wand attached to the espresso machine. "There's been a few fights, and a lot of strange folks. But it's been a good day for business."

"Yeah, it seems like a strange mix in here," Blair said with a chuckle. "I hope they haven't been too much trouble today."

"Ex-CUSE me, Blair," Kira said, stomping up to him with Svana. "Weren't you even going to say hello to me?"

Blair said, "Of course. But first, I wanted a hot chocolate, and this man is kind enough to make it for me despite his long day."

"He's had a long day?" Kira snapped. "What about me? I'm exhausted trying to keep Claudette in line!"

Blair was turning a little pink. Kira, no doubt, was going to cause a scene.

"Perhaps I am," conceded the man with the staff to Svana. Handsome? That's a matter of preference, but he does have more 'refined' features than a lot of human men have. In contrast to Svana, he doesn't look at all like a warrior. Warriors typically don't wear flowing robes.

"My name is Jelryn," he says, giving the elven woman a half bow.
