Oh dear lord... had she put salt in there or something? Because it really didn't tasted good at all! Not enough to make her vomit again, but certainly not something she would try ever again. Trying to get away from that meal, she went to another table, Conor's, only to notice another horror! What in the lord's name had they made? Burt breat and frosting and.... what was wrong with her son-in-law-ish? She glared at him, then back at the meal, then back at Conor. She wasn't really sure she wanted to taste it...

+1 for family
- 1 for poor technique
- 1 for being suspected of being crazy.

Yeaaaah, it wasn't good. At all. Pretty discussing, actually. She didn't even bothered to swallow it, and took mental note to never eat any desert coming out from her grandson's family. They were horrible at deserts and it wasn't even funny. She walked away, giving them a small prayer to the goddess for them. Maybe a miracle would happen? Yeah, she doubted that.

Next table were her friends the Hipps, and, as expected, they had made some turnips for deserts. Now of course, having known them for a while, she knew that this was possible and could even taste quite good but... just what had they done? Not only did it look horrible, but it had clear that they had no idea what they wre doing when they did it. Gladce gave a look toward Talna, silently judging her for not even being able to repair her husband's mistake. What kind of housewife did she thought she was?

-2 for horrible overall.

Disappointment, disappointment, disappointment. She had been so exited for this round, but now everything was failing! Was that the price to pay to have the first few desert taste wonderful? Why couldn't just everyone have great deserts? She pouted and went to the next table, really not expecting anything anymore.

This was the blind man who had made... a cake? Was it even a french cake? She... wasn't quite sure... In fact, she was pretty confused as to how someone who was blind could bake a cake...

+ 0 for being totally confused.

Actually, it was pretty good cake. Not the best one she had tasted, but a nice change after all the previous deserts. Wasn't it sad when mediocre became good? Oh well, she couldn't expect everyone to be good at everything, now could she? She moved to the next table, with a slight regain of hope.

This was Benedek's table and all her hope went away. She knew that this was really Dante hidding under some ugly wig trying to make her tast his food, but that wouldn't change anythign! She knew his secret and she knew that whatever he had done wasn't French! At least it was a desert this time... Without even looking at the mixture, she took a bite while sending glares of death toward the greenhaired man.

+1 for hope
- 1 for lost hope
- 1 for not being French
- 1 for being Dante in disguised.

Urg. It tasted horrible! Just like she was expecting it to taste, actually. A man like Dante could never ever cook anything good! And for that, he would get his food spat back right onto his face! Like she had done right now. That would teach him.

Still angry, she went to the next table (Reinbach) and took a bite out of the montblanc without even looking at it. She was too furious to even care right now.

+0 for having no idea what or who she's judging.

Oh? OH! This was good! Very good! Who was she judging? Wait...THEM? Oh... well... Ah well, she had already written done the scores. She would probably hate herself for it later, but for now... yeah. She moved on, trying to forget she had gave a good score to Florence and Reinbach. The next table, was that cat and that chinese girl again. Refusing to even eat whatever they had made, she simply guessed before moving on to the next table.

-1 for pass trauma.

She had given them an average score, mainly because, if the Sonata could have a good score, it would have been unjust to give them, a bad one without even tasting their plate. She was still nice, somewhere deep down.

Next table was that woman who might of might not have cheated... Gladice wasn't sure anymore, mostly because the Christmas Log on the plate looked really well done and no one else had done anything like that... so maybe it had just been a horrible coincidence?

Gladice decided to look closer to the plate to see if it wasn't just something that had been bought at a store or something, but no, it hadn't been. And how did she knew that? By the real branches and leaves laid on it! Using real nature on a plate of fake nature? Ingenious! She loved that!

And it was petty good! One of the best desert she had tasted today! It was a good turn after everything else she had tasted, but she had a feeling this wouldn't last for long... some strange nagging feeling in the back of her mind...

Which she understood once he saw Xiero's plate. What had he... done? He was suppose to be a baker! She ate his cookies every Wednesday at the townsquare! Nothing looked like that... what was that? Was it...claffouti? She wasn't sure... maybe... Maybe it was just some new thing he had created? She hoped it was better than what it looked...

It was actually pretty decent... maybe not the best, but not the worst either. Still, a cooking contest was not the time to try new recipe! You should practice first before entering it. That ha been a bad move on Xiero's part.

She then went to the last table, where a half eaten éclair au chocolat was waiting for her. She loved those! It wasn't extraordinarily well done, but still, she could forgive it because of what it was. She took a bute, really hopping that end the festival with something good!

+1 for loving Eclair.

And it was pretty good! She went back to the juding table in order to count the final scores. She couldn't trust Gaston to do it, and for all she knew, Nanami didn't even know how to count, so she had to do it herself.

This was time to announce the final results. All the points from th last three rounds had been put together and it was now time to annonce the winner. Like usually, the first place would get two grand in cash money, second place would have 500$ and a month worth of grocery and the 3rd place would have a month worth of groceries too. The old woman walked to the microphone announced the scores.

Boy – did Benedikt have luck or what? They hadn't beaten Benedetta, but they weren't horrible either! Seventh place out of twelve? That was probably a little odd of a thing to be happy about – it placed them as completely average among the regular contestants! But, damn, if anyone was paying attention to the things Kevin was coming up with as his 'blind' self, they would be entertained too! He was certain they would get, if the judges were idiots, tenth or eleventh place, but.. they were seventh! That was all to do with luck, baby, and if Benedikt wasn't going to laugh at it, then what could he allow himself a grin for? Though.. he did wish he was at least second place after hearing those prizes.. That was a nice chunk of spending money right there! If he had known, he would have been more serious about his choice in partner, honestly – but, he supposed sex could make up for it.. some.

~ ~ ~ ~

..What happened? Did they lose? Win? Oh, Benedek wasn't paying much attention, even when the announcement was made by the sweet old granny on a microphone. Mm.. Grannies.. They normally were wrinkled, weren't they? He wondered briefly how a wrinkle would feel against his cheek? Or.. if, perhaps, an iron could smooth it out~? Oh, it was worth a try someday! He peered over at Gladice from under the table with a mix of malice and curiosity as he pondered this, but soon lost interest as he noticed that one certain man was still at their station. Hayden~ He smiled widely and dragged himself out from under the table, coming back up to his feet with an awkward bounce. Perfect~ He could just start to feel it wearing off too and, really, these things were much more fun with company~! “Let's go home, Haayydeen~” He drawled out giggly as one hand came to tightly hold the man's arm and the other slid into his own pocket to make sure he still had his gumdrops~ Painful loss or not, they were still going to enjoy the day!

~ ~ ~ ~

Only fifth place.. Benedetta should probably be happy she had gotten that far, to be honest; the competition were actually very good for what they were doing and Emery was her partner this year.. It was a blessing they hadn't lost. But, she couldn't help frowning at the people who had beaten her. The blond women – she didn't mind. They were both with their lovers and she was sure their love helped boost up their motivation to win. Raiden and what she assumed to be his sister – well, they were siblings! Benedetta knew very well that siblings could be the best at encouraging – but. That man and his son?! She couldn't stand the idea! She scowled at them for just a moment before going back into something more befitting of a woman. “We did very good this year, Emery,” She said calmly as she went to take her hair down, going to Emery to do the same for her. “but, we'll have to do much better next year.Much better. At least she beat her siblings!

~ ~ ~ ~

Gaston was honestly surprised that Florence had gotten so low on the rankings, even if the baboon didn't seem to know any different as he plucked a passing bug off of the ground and inspected it. But, Gaston only saw a look of depression, shame, and most definitely guilt at losing today! Oh, the poor animal! It brought tears to his eyes to know that his brother and favorite loyal companion could possibly be outranked by commoners – they must have cheated! ..No, wait.. It was much more likely that Gladice was trying to sabotage his family by giving them unnecessarily low scores and coercing Nanami into doing the same! Ah, that fiend! He would have to deal with her later – for now, he simply left with his animal and brother in tow.

~ ~ ~ ~

...They were tied. For last place. Conor creased his brow as he heard their rank, glancing around the tables for that Catrina and Mei that was just as bad as they were. Considering Mei seemed like am Asian name and there was only one Asian he could spot, he had to assume the girl with that cat-eared chick had to be them. ..Yeah, mental note – don't trust any meals coming from those two. Not that Conor ever expected anyone to cook for him, but, it was just a quick note. He knew he only lost because, well, Gladice obviously still blamed him for Keith – not that she ever did vocally accuse him of anything, but, ********, he knew she did! What other reason would she have for putting up that ******** sweet act?! Of course, she was just planning on getting his guard down so she could do something. ..No, he wasn't sure what yet, but.. he knew it was gonna come. Eventually. He glanced down at John, who was happily enjoying the left over food like the little pig he was. ..Well, he wasn't going to strike a child for having a healthy, manly appetite! So, he let him finish to his heart's content before eventually leaving with Keith. No need for any sour feelings when, at the very least, Keith had earned them free groceries.

~ ~ ~ ~

My!” Talna exclaimed excitedly the moment the scores were out and their name came out first! She couldn't believe it – she was only a simple homemaker, after all, she wasn't like any of those fancy chefs with their big schools! Wasn't the baker in the contestants? My! She didn't think that she would beat a professional like that! She was more than happy when she looked over at her husband, wanting to do so much more than just look at him at that moment – but, she wasn't going to initiate anything! She was his wife, after all. So, she only beamed him a smile and went on to say, “What should we do with all them money, Turner?” Two thousand dollars! Why, they could maybe.. by some chance.. get a second cow! Or, if they really wanted to, they could get a butter maker – or cheese maker! Yarn! My, a sheep! They should get a little sheep! While her thoughts floated about all the things they could do with that money, she had gone over to thank Gladice, even if the woman couldn't possibly have done it on purpose. That would be against the rules, after all.

~ ~ ~ ~

Last place?! What had Catrina done to deserve that?! She didn't think she was that bad! ..No, it had to be.. them! They just didn't know how good of a chef she was! Bah, humans, they were such weird creatures – always overcooking their food, grimacing at a dead peacock on a stick, and too afraid to get their mitts wet when it came to fishing – what on earth would a string and some metal do to catch a fish? What, were they going to smack it with the chip of metal at the end until it passed out? She snorted as she crossed her arms in a pout, irritated at the result. She knew she was a good cook! She didn't need some silly panel of judges to tell her that! ..Morons. Probably all worked for the dogs.. Ah, yes, while Catrina was glaring over at the judges, she soon got distracted enough to leave – whether it was with Mei or not.. well, that depended on whether the Asian was willing to follow after today.

COOKING FESTIVAL
YEAR 6

User ImageUser ImageUser ImageUser Image

Like for every cooking festival, Gladice was the first one being there. It was her festival after all! Even Gaston couldn’t take that away from her. Sure, she hadn’t been feeling awesomely lately, but with all the work she had to put to make sure that the island was being run smoothly when an idiot like Gaston was behind the steering wheel, it was no surprise that it would catch up with her one day. She should probably just take a vacation to somewhere more relaxing for a year, like Iraq. She had heard that the bombs were quite beautiful this time of the year. Too bad that there was virtually no way she could leave the island without being sure at 100% that everything would be fine with her gone. If only there was someone on the island she could train and groom to act as her representative when she was gone… but who? If she was to remove from the list every strange and weird people living there, it would be quite small; she wouldn’t even put her own Grandson on it! Well, the youngest one. He had too much issues to be left in charge of the island even if she still thought that he was a lovely boy. Yoakim and Alanis could do… No, not Alanis. She was too friendly with Gaston… Maybe Eleanor? No, she was too nice in general. Maybe Bela? Oh, that would be possible. She would have to think about all that.

While she was thinking about the future of the island, sitting behind the judge table, her two grandsons were busying themselves preparing the festival. It took men to lift heavy tables, boxes of cooking ware and all those things that a festival involving food needed! And right now, Keith wished that he was a girl. ”Why the ******** am I doing all the hard work? You used to do that by yourself, you don’t need me!” It was one thing to help the old woman when he felt alone after his rupture with Conor and Yoakim’s elopement, then feeling somewhat guilty that the old woman had paid his way to culinary school, but now it had been over a year and he was completely over it and just didn’t feel like helping his family anymore! His time was too precious to be helping them setting that damn festival that he would be ******** winning this year. THREE times in a row he had earned the 3rd position. It was a ******** joke. This year he was winning, ******** Alanis, ******** that hillbilly chick, ******** anyone who wasn’t him. Yeah, no way Conor was toping him for the whole week if he lost again.

”Man, relax a bit. You won’t die from giving me a hand. Not that you have anything better to do.”, replied the blacksmith to his brother. Sure, the two of them had always been the two closest in their family, with Alanis being too busy being perfect to spend time with them and April, their older very NPC sister having her own life to take care off the island, and had grown even closer through the last couple years, but sometimes, Yoakim just felt like strangling Keith. It was one of those things he couldn’t control, a little urge in him to commit homicide on his brother, or would it be considered self defence in occasions like these? Still, he simply took in a deep breath and tried to ignore his brother’s constant nagging… especially since someone else was taking over scolding him.

”Relax, man! Won’t die! Giving a hand!” That little voice appearing… well, everywhere, considering the speed the little boy was running around his father and his uncle was, obviously, from Wilhelm was had decided to “help” the other two men. Of course, like any “help” Wilhelm gave, it was basically just him running everywhere and bumping into everything that could be bumped into. Too bad there wasn’t any Sandcastle for him to fall unto this time. That had been awesome help he had given John! He hadn’t seen John in a while now that he thought of it… nor Peta. Or Muse. OR ANYONE OH MY GOD HE WAS ALL ALONE IN THE WORLD AND HE HAD NO ONE ANYMORE! He stopped running for a second to simply stare in front of him as he came to that realization…. That past soon enough and then resumed running around his father and uncle.

”You’re one to talk.”

”Quentin is perfectly normal. John’s not mine.”

==========

On the… less hectic side of the town square, Popcorn, for once, was sitting at a table without making much noise. She didn’t really know how to cook anything, so she wasn’t there to compete. No, she was there because she was on a mission! Everyone knew that cooking was a woman job (at least that’s what Phileo had thought her), so obviously, any male that would be entering the festival would be gay! What better way for her to find out all about the homosexual of the island than that? Then she could draw a lot of graphic homoerotism of them and then glue all of them on Phileo’s trailer, because, dammit, it was about time that man made his coming out! Even after locking him and that other male from the white day together, they had still refused to fornicate and let her tape it. One day Sierra, one day! She’ll just have to wait until then….

Another person, not sitting all that far from Popcorn, and who was also waiting, was Alanis. What was she waiting for? For the contest to start? For her partner to arrive? No! She was waiting for Lucas to propose to her already! SHE WAS TIRED OF WAITING! How many hints did a girl had to give? How many wedding dressed more had she to put in their living room? Wedding magazines on the table? Wedding shows on Tv? Hell, she had even bough The Wedding Planner’s DVD had it was the only thing playing on their TV for the last week! What else was she to do? Well, actually, she knew. She had already paid someone to tattoo “MARRY ALANIS ALREADY!” on Lucas while he was sleeping. She just had to wait for them to go shopping in the city to drug him so that could be done… But soon! Soon it would be! There was no escaping it! LUCAS WAS HERS D8<

==========

Now, on the completely not normal side of the town’s square, Reinbach was sitting on a chair being lifted by four servants. There was nowhere else he would be sitting, after all. For now, he was busy looking for his brother, which meant that the servants had to turn in circles to give him a 360 degree view. Oh, to be rich! It was awesome. ”Walter! Walter! Walter! Walter! Walter! Walter! Walter! Walter! Walter! Walter! Do you see good brother? Walter? Walter! Walter! Walter!” Oh, all that turning around was giving him a little headspin, but it was okay. Even if he was to puke because of it, his royal puke was better than any peasant’s non puke. It was one of the advantage to be a real human and not a peasants or a servants, like that purple haird girl who was looking at them weirdly. Oh, silly peasants.

What was that 15 times he had just heard his name called in the span of a minute? Dear God man im right in front of you, you inbred fool! Walter was indeed at the head of the party directing the servants who were carrying Reinbach. Well he had been, until they started turning in circles. "Milord!" Walter snapped his figners as he turned on his heels and addressed the spinning baffoon. "I dont believe your good brother is here yet. Im sure he's waiting to make his grand spectacular entrance. Why dont i register us for the cooking contest and you can pick a grand cooking station worthy of your beauty... I do believe its a first come first serve basis." Walter added, and ego.. that would have to be one huge kitchen. Walter looked around the area, there was a prime spot infront of the judges and in centerish part of the festival. Walter pointed to the cooking station and looked back to Reinbach and the servants. "I suggest that spot sir, now ill go register us." Walter said before he walked over to the judges table and registered Reinbach and himself as a team, since servants, except for himself, didnt count. He promptly returned to Reinbach's side and awaited more orders. He would have informed the man about how this thing went, but one it was Reinbach so it didnt matter. And two Walter didnt care. He did suppose he was doing the cooking while Reinbach could plate things, or rather Reinbach's servants could and Reinbach himself could look all pretty atop his throne there. So.. why had Walter agreed to this?! Oh right something about job security....
