Warfare 1944 sucks defense-wise, compared to Warfare 1917.
At least in the 1st one, you could pile up in a trench with machine gunners and cut down the advancing enemy, with taking even a single loss being a rare fluke. In the sequel, cover provides practically no bonus, and you ALWAYS lose someone in every single unit conflict, unless it's the tank or a mortar barrage.
