"Yes, well, one must become acquainted with the locale when he spends a week within it." Wandering along the city streets he pointed out little shops or certain people he had spoken to lately. "A pity I must make myself scarce so soon. The city always was a bit more welcoming than home."

Maea chuckled. "It's better when you call the road your home. You're never away, and there's nothing to miss." She looked longingly at one vendor's stall. He had those medallions lined up right to the edge of the table; she could just rach out and...
"I have to tell you, I'm still a bit annoyed. I never had a chance to take anything from the warden's house. I was planning on a much bigger haul last night. And with your little job so neatly done, the city guard is going to be twice as attentive. It'll be skinny living till I can get to the next big town."

Faelin shrugged. "Tis a lonely road regardless. I call nowhere home. I have discovered, it is better by far to find myself somewhere, anywhere, for it means I still survive." watching her hand twitch toward the stall with the medallions he chuckled. "My business this night prior was sloppy, I admit, for I designed it so. I apologize for your involvement and such is why I let you escape by my side. Normally I am gone long before the search even spreads past the walls."

Stopping at the side of the street he grabbed Maea's shoulders and pulled her against his chest, resting his chin on her shoulder. "All is not lost. Follow me and reap your rewards." the last breath escaping his lips bore trhe same tone as he had used last night while on the job. His gaze flicked back toward the stall with the medallions.

Maea grabbed a fistful of his hair and dragged back on it. "Let's get one thing straight, Greshak, before we go making big plans. I don't do the touchy-feely thing. Grab me like that again and you will lose the little manhood you have, got it? Now let go of me."

Kira watched them talking pretending to look, or wait for something. When she was sure they were both caught up in there conversation, she waited till someone came in the gates, and walked behind them to sneak out. Once outside she moved along the wall a little ways out of sight and looked around. In front of her was open land spotted with only a few trees here and there. She realized she had no idea where anything was. She had only left the safety of the wall one time, which was with her brother on horse back, and she had to be coaxed out then.

“Be brave,” He had told her, “sooner or latter your going to have to leave this place”.
She sighed remembering his words. They gave her the push she needed. She knew she would have to leave pretty quickly now, the priest would soon notice her absence, and take her back if she was caught. She ran to the first tree she saw, and leaned up behind it, out of sight for the moment though if any one came by they would probably see her. It would have to work though until she figured out where to go.

Wincing he rubbed his scalp where the hairs Maea had pulled were connected. "You are not well versed in this following thing, are you?" Stepping away he looked somewhat sternly yet somewhat apologetically at her. "Very well, have it your way, though pulling off such a deception as I'd concocted would have required a tiny bit of acting I can now see you are uncomfortable with such a role. Your priggish conformity shall limit your rapacious potential." Sniffing once he made quick strides toward the medallion merchant's stall.

Maea made a very rude gesture as an answer. "Nobody asked for your help, Greshak." She caught up with him quickly, and in a lower voice said, "You've got your style, sellsword, and I've got mine. And mine is to be invisible. Not to make lovey-dovey in the middle of the street with creepy old men. Or whatever you are."

"Be that as it may, Crystal, you declared it my fault you had a poor haul. I am simply trying to make amends. It is as you say, each has their own style, and mine would require a female accomplice this one time." At her old men comment his expression drooped and he stopped to look himself over in a sheet of glass. "Why would you have cause to say such a dastardly thing? I am youthful beyond my years and my heart is young to match. Perhaps I shall simply continue on to the bistro as my efforts are unappreciated here." Sniffling slightly he stood and looked uncertain whether to continue or return to the vendor's stall.

Maea rolled her eyes and grabbed his arm, dragging him down the street toward the bistro. "If you're young, Greshak, then I was born yesterday. You may not be aged, but anyone who spends five minutes with you would say you're old. As for your 'efforts', don't bother. I may complain, but the fact of it is, I don't take charity. Especially from big-headed sellswords who persist in talking like scholars when they ought to know it annoys the pants off me. Are we going to eat or not? I'm hungry."

"My mother always did tell me to go play with girls more often, perhaps this is the situation she feared would arise." ruminating to himself Faelin allowed Maea to pull him along toward their destination. "I do admit to a slight possibility that I may have secluded myself a bit too often in my many long years. We should correct this most heinous of social atrocities at once!" suddenly planting his feet he twisted his arm smoothly from Maea's grasp and walked through a door. Sweet aromas of venison and far more exotic dishes wafted from the room's interior before the door shut and sealed them in again.

(I'm really sorry... I have to leave the roleplay. I'm giving up roleplaying entirely. I was really enjoying this one, we were off to a great start, but I just can't continue. I'll withdraw Maea as best I can...)

Maea stopped just inside the door. What in the name of all the gods was she doing? She was... relaxed. With someone she'd met the night before. An assassin, who'd almost gotten her killed. Why?
She took a step backward, feeling for the door. She had even let him choose the place. He could have taken her anywhere, into some kind of trap. She'd slept in the same room with him. Where had all this trust come from all the sudden? This wasn't like her. It scared her, that a few words from this man were enough to... to manipulate her so thoroughly.
She was on the street, heading for the outer wall, without realizing that she'd decided to leave. But of course she had. It made sense. Unlike the events of the last twelve hours or so. She ducked into an alley and started running.
When nightfall came, she would be on the road for Kagemuisha. She needed the demon capital to harden herself; she was getting soft. A few weeks of night life and dodging cutpurses and worse would clear her head. That was all she needed.
She wrapped her hand around the black feather at her neck and gripped it till her fingernails dug into her palm, drawing blood.

((As I said in yoru RP, I hope you're able to overcome your problems and someday return. I've enjoyed your writing.))

Faelin looked over his shoulder as a cold breeze flowed through the room. "Longer than most." he thought to himself as Maea made her discreet exit. Spying the man he had come to see, at a table in the corner, Faelin wound his way through the crowded restaurant to his target. "Captain," he greeted quietly as he sat. "Our plot did unfold as expected I presume?" the other gentleman nodded and waved over the serving wench.
"Aye, Firemane, she sits in a cell even now awaiting execution. The Sable Knave will be hung in a fortnight. My commander has 'thanked' the corps for our attempt at saving the warden but more so for capturing his murderess. They, as you expected, believed every word of the story." quieting as their waitress arrived Faelin ordered a decent breakfast of eggs and fruits with a partloaf of bread and sent her on her way.
