Mirzam perked his ears as he heard yet another trainer approaching. Now this one, this one looked strong and worthwhile, as did the Umbreon and Pancham at his side! For a moment Mirzam's pulse intensified as he thought it might be That Umbreon who he had just helped fight back wherever they had been before, but no, this one looked different and had a different energy about it. Still, seeing another Umbreon so soon was enough to send Mirzam into a rage. He bared his teeth and raced forward, about to attack, but just then Team Rocket Lady stepped out and talked to the Strong Trainer. Mirzam stopped what he was doing because he wished to listen, although he still stared the other two Pokemon down with a look of aggression, his six tails wagging irritably. He looked to Team Rocket Lady when she addressed him, and gave a grumble that seemed affirmative.

"Dreadnought" Sly Merrimack
"Well aren't you sweet." Monitor smiled at the Vulpix before snapping at Merrimack, "Make sure your little punks leave him alone. Unlike some here, He's helpful." Pancham was already jumping up and down, fists balled saying, "You looking for a fight?" to the Vulpix. Jury merely gave an icy glare, barely wanting to acknowledge either of these under-trained and over-eager Pokémon. "That dim ember ain't worth Jury's time." Merrimack sneered. "As for the Pancham - what a couple of wild Pokémon do has nothing to do with me." "Did you spend all day making your new friend? I was sure you'd have been back here before I was. Did your meeting with Harrison not go as smoothly as expected, or were you just revisiting your old stomping grounds?" Monitor asked, knowing she was poking a sore spot. "The meeting went fine." Merrimack snapped back. "Any other Nature's Madness that happened today is none of your haxing business." Merrimack knew there was no way Monitor could know about his encounter with Selene at least not yet anyway... But just the same, seeing Monitor here in Alola mere miles away from Selene's home was stirring up his anger and aggravation all over again and adding a whole new level to it. He needed to let off some steam. Looking inside the hideout and saw Ken and Kirby looking particularly green. A smirk came to his face as he called out to them, "Hey Grunts! You ever battle a Shadow Pokémon?"
"As a matter of fact, I am!" Mirzam said back to the Pancham, and now his full focus was on this new opponent so he paid no mind to what either of the humans were saying. He opened his mouth and sprayed a Flamethrower at Pancham.

Ken had been standing around inside the base nervously, waiting for something to happen. Then the door opened as a new person came in, which was Dreadnought. Ken gulped. Dreadnought scared him. He just looked powerful, and like he would snap Ken in half just for looking at him a moment too long. Now that very man was asking him and the nearest grunt, Kirby, if they'd battled a Shadow Pokemon. Ken shook his head negatively. "No, never!" he squeaked, eyes wide.

Kirby
Kirby had been waiting patiently, one hand in his pants pocket. He turned unhurriedly when he heard the door open. He saw that it was Mr. Merrimack, and he looked particularly sadistic today. He asked them if they had battled Shadow Pokemon. Kirby could feel the fear emanating from the young grunt nearby. Someone way too young to be involved in this organization. They all were, really. Kirby felt nervous, too, but it did not show. "No, we've not." Beside him his Growlithe, Toa, stood tall and proud as he regarded Sly. He would fight gladly for his trainer, no matter how outmatched he was.

"Dreadnought" Sly Merrimack
"Then let's take this outside. It's about time you learned what real power is." As Merrimack spoke to the grunts, the door behind him was illuminated by Mirzam's Flamethrower. Outside, Pancham rolled out of the way of the Flamethrower. "Oh, of all the...Mismagius, Hypnosis!" Monitor sighed, calling out her Pokémon. Pancham was getting ready to Body Slam the Fire-type, but found himself face to face with Mismagius instead. "Now that you've seen my wicked gaze, you'll fall into a sleepy daze." The Ghost-type chanted, looking into Pancham's eyes. The Fighting-type tried to resist, but nodded off. "You can deal with him later, Vulpix, just not so close to to the base." Monitor said, remembering Trahlive's warning about the fires earlier. "Right over here." Merrimack said, returning outside and moving toward the Tapu Village. Pancham snapped back awake, as Dreadnought stepped over him. The Playful Pokémon leered back at the Vulpix, before deciding to follow Sly to see what he was doing. "Lucky for you he's more interesting!" Pancham shot back to Mirzam.
Mirzam bared his teeth in frustration but turned to track Pancham, ready to launch another attack immediately. That was when Mismagius intervened and put Pancham to sleep. Mirzam snorted. He glanced to Team Rock Lady when she told him he could have his fight later. Fine. He disdained not taking care of the Pancham now but he knew he could just as easily be put to sleep, so he would behave. When Pancham awakened, Mirzam returned his look with a glare of his own. "Lucky for you they won't let me kill you right now!"

Ken looked like all he wanted to do was run away, but he had no good choice but to obey the Dreadnought's request. "But why? All I have are this stupid Rattata and stupid Zubat! They don't stand a chance!" Despite his complaints, he did follow, although he looked like a beaten dog as he did so.

Kirby sighed lightly, and frowned when the young grunt disparaged his own Pokemon. I'll save you someday, he promised those Pokemon. His own would fare little better against a Shadow Pokemon. He walked after Mr. Merrimack. "He has a point. Why bother with this battle? We're only grunts, this won't even be a warm up for you."

"You're right, it won't be a warm up for me - it'll be a demonstration for you losers." Merrimack sneered at the grunts protests. "People are going to be asking you why your whole lives: 'Why are you stealing my Pokémon? Why did you join Team Rocket? Why won't you leave me alone?'" Or why did you leave me alone? His memories of Selene only fueled the vehemence he directed at the Grunts. "Because all Pokémon exist for the glory of Team Rocket! People who ask 'why?' are the weaklings we pound into the dust - Just like I'm gonna pound you now, and if you don't learn to toughen up, that's were you can stay, cause there's no room for weaklings in Team Rocket!" He stood opposite them with a Dusk Ball in his hand and a twisted smile on his face. "I'm gonna show you what Team Rocket's really capable of, so both of you come at me at once with as many Pokémon as you like! This is what you'll be up against: Death Sentence!" As the Dusk Ball opened, the Ball Seals released a cloud of black smoke, all that could be seen through the smoke was the sinister glow of two red eyes. Suddenly a burst of flames punctuated by a wild roar drove the the smoke away, revealing the hulking form of a Shadow Aggron.

Mirzam's eyes widened when the Shadow Pokemon came out. He sat down to watch what would ensue.

Ken
Ken lowered his head again when Dreadnought started scolding them, but he did take something away from that. Dreadnought was right, Pokemon were to be used for the glory of Team Rocket! This was an eat or be eaten world and the weak belonged in the dust. Ken was going to prove himself. Maybe not here and now, that was impossible with the weak Pokemon he had, but he wasn't going to go down sniveling at least. And it's not like he was the one who was going to get hurt. He straightened up and tried to look stronger. He thought about the humiliation he had suffered earlier in the day and let that fuel his determination to not have such a thing happen again. They got to where they would fight, and Ken tried to ignore the pang of fear in his gut when he heard that the Shadow Aggron was named Death Sentence. He sent out Zubat and Rattata both. "Go! Rattata, Quick Attack! Zubat, Supersonic!" Rattata dashed in quickly to use Quick Attack on Death Sentence. Zubat flew overhead and chirped out sound waves to attempt to confuse Death Sentence with Supersonic.

Kirby hated every word he heard, but he had to go along with it and so he just gave a little nod and kept his mouth shut. It was best to just get this over with. He looked apologetically at Toa, but the Growlithe did not appear afraid; his eyes bore a look of determination. Kirby gave him a pat on the head. Then he looked up as Mr. Merrimack let lose Death Sentence, his Shadow Aggron. "All right Toa, show them what you've got." Toa would step forth into battle. Kirby kept his other Pokemon in their Pokeballs. Their contribution would be little and he wished to protect them from harm. "Dig!" he commanded. Toa tunneled into the ground.

Sly saw himself reflected perfectly in the two grunts before him - Ken ready to sell his soul to Team Rocket for power, and Kirby who looked resigned to his fate, but still with a spark of defiance. Unfortunately for the grunts, that was a reflection Merrimack was eager to shatter. He hated having to act as an agent of Team Rocket, especially since he wasn't even sure if it was just an act at this point. But that only made him lean into it all the more. "Glad to see you found your fire!" He said, jeeringly, before adding a menacing "Now let me stomp it out. Death Sentence, Outrage!" The Shadow Aggron complied with another savage roar as he unleashed a draconic fury. If the Iron Armor Pokémon even noticed the Rattata smack into him, he gave no indication. As his heavy armored tail swung around and crashed into the rodent Pokémon, even Merrimack wasn't sure if it was deliberate or accidental. Aggron's attention was clearly on Zubat. The Shadow Pokémon's constantly berserk mind couldn't get much more confused than it already was, so the Supersonic move was just an infuriating ringing in Aggron's ears - and he retaliated by swiping at Zubat with all his might. Next Death Sentence turned his attention toward the Growlithe, but his attack was met with an opening in the ground where Toa had been. Death Sentence cried out again, enraged that it's prey had eluded it, even for a moment.

Rattata was struck across the belly by Aggron's tail and flung across the battlefield; she hit the ground and rolled several times. She then lay still. Zubat was still fluttering around the air squeaking. He narrowly avoided being struck as he flew around frantically. "Astonish!" Ken called out, amazed that Zubat was still hanging in there but knowing that the next move would surely do it in. Zubat made a loud, sudden noise as he used Astonish.

Toa finished Dig and tunneled up beneath the furious Aggron. As soon as he did so, he began to run off to the side to try to dodge any retaliation coming his way, but he was definitely at risk of being struck.

"Death Sentence, Stomping Tantrum!" Merrimack commanded when Toa reappeared. Aggron chased Growlite as he tried to get away, stomping furiously to drive the Fire-type into the ground. Death Sentence's fresh outburst of anger was fueled not by the 4x Super Effective hit he'd just taken, but by the simple fact that Toa's Dig had allowed him to avoid The Iron Armor Pokémon's Outrage move. "STUPID GROWLITH!" The Shadow Pokémon roared in his Pokéspeak, "YOU LIKE DIRT? THEN STAY IN DIRT!" Zubat's Astonish called Aggron's attention back on the Bat Pokemon. "NOISY ZUBAT!" Death Sentence roared. "Make 'em wish he'd taken your Outrage - use Head Smash!" Merimack ordered. The Aggron gave a mighty leap, striking the ground with his tail to propel himself toward the Zubat, roaring "HEAD SMAAAASH!"

Toa sucked in a breath and began to dart side to side to try and get out of the way of the stomping Shadow Aggron. He nearly made it but then one of the Aggron's feet came down hard on his rump. Toa yelped as his legs gave out beneath him. Before he could recover, he was stomped into unconsciousness.
Kirby gasped, feeling tears well up in his eyes to see his beloved partner trampled thusly. "That's enough." He returned Toa to his Pokeball.

Zubat flitted about, using his echolocation to try to avoid being struck as he obviously didn't have eyes. He was not fast enough this time to avoid the Head Smash that came his way. He was struck and went flipping through the air before landing on the ground somewhere in the distance, knocked unconscious.
Ken sighed. "Useless Pokemon," he muttered bitterly. They had gotten what they deserved, it was all their fault for being so wimpy.

Mirzam watched as the Zubat and Growlithe who were in the battle were wrecked. He snorted in disdain. "Weaklings! Is that the best you can do?" He felt his blood pumping from just watching the battle and absolutely wanted a part of this. He would prove himself against that Shadow Aggron! He leapt from his sitting position and landed on his paws in the battlefield and immediately launched a Fire Spin at Death Sentence.

"Not bad." Merrimack said to the two grunts as Death Sentence pulverized their Pokémon. "Your Pokémon are nowhere near my team's level, but at least you two know how to use 'em." As Ken and Kirby recalled their beaten Pokémon, Mirzam jumped forward and launched a Fire Spin. "Oh? Looks like your new buddy wants a thrashing too." Merrimack sneered at Monitor. "Well we're happy to oblige. Death Sentence - Head Smash!" "HEAD SMAAASH!" The Aggron cried as he tore right through the swirling flames and charged at the small Fire-type. "Sableye, Brick Break!" Monitor commanded. The Ruby-Eyed Ghost-type emerged from the shadows and dealt a sharp blow to the charging Aggron. Unlike Toa's dig, this Super Effective hit caused the Steel-Type to double over in pain. "If you really want to show off what Shadow Pokémon can do, we should demonstrate proper technique, rather than plain brute force." Monitor jeered Merrimack. To Mirzam she added, "I know you're tough, little guy, but trust me, this isn't something you can take on by yourself." Sableye gave Aggron a sinister grin. "Death Sentence. I haven't fought you since you were a Lairon." The Dark-type's voice was like an evil hiss. "I wounder if your armor still makes the same wonderful tearing sound as my claws shred through it." "AND DEATH SENTENCE WONDERS WHAT MOVE DREADNOUGHT WILL SAY TO KILL YOU WITH." The Aggron roared back beginning another charge. HOPING FOR HEAD SMASH! "Sucker Punch!" Monitor ordered, anticipating Sly's next attack as much as Death Sentence was. "Death Sentence!" Merrimack called out as Aggron approached Sableye, "Return!" The Shadow Sableye's attack passed through empty air as Death Sentence vanished back into his Dusk Ball. "I don't need a Shadow Pokémon to overpower you." Merrimack replied. "Go, Judge!" The Iron Snake Pokémon appeared from it's Pokéball with the usual cloud of black smoke. "Oh?" Monitor remarked. It doesn't seem like that long ago Merrimack faced Sableye with the same sense of resignation these two grunts just showed Death Sentence. Seeing him this confidant against me is vexing. And kinda hot. She thought to herself before answering back, "One lumbering brute's just as useless against my tactics as another. Watch and learn, boys." The Shadow Sableye looked on the Steelix before him with his glaring red eyes. "Selene's Pokémon." He hissed, his grin becoming even more twisted as the Ghost-type sensed the lingering bond between Judge and his Original Trainer. "Mistress never let me hurt HER. Now I'm going to hurt YOU so bad, SHE'LL feel it in her own self-inflicted wounds."
Ken was surprised to receive what amounted to a compliment from Dreadnought. He straightened up, looking a little less scared and a little more determined. That hadn't been so bad. His Pokemon had gotten whomped, yes, but maybe they would learn something. He returned them both to their Pokeballs. Maybe, with hard work, he could one day be as powerful as the Dreadnought! Maybe even more powerful! Then that Vulpix randomly jumped in to fight. Ken watched to see what would happen next.

Kirby was not comforted by Mr. Merrimack's words. "I'm sorry, my friend. You did well," he whispered to Toa's Pokeball before putting it away. Then he looked up as that Vulpix that had been watching decided to join the fight, as well as Ms. Monitor.

Seeing the Aggron coming right at him, Mirzam charged at him in turn--aiming to throw himself out of the way at the last second and see if he could hit Death Sentence from the side. That was when a Shadow Sableye suddenly appeared and used Brick Break on Aggron. Mirzam still jumped to the side, but instead of attacking, he slid sideways on his paws before coming to a stop. He snorted. "Yes I can! I'll prove it!" he said back to Team Rocket Lady, though she might not understand him. His ears pinned back. He hated having help but no matter, he would bring down that Shadow Aggron and the Shadow Sableye and prove himself! But then Death Sentence was returned. "Coward!" Mirzam snarled even though it hadn't been Death Sentence's fault. Strong Trainer sent out a Steelix, instead. "Fine then! I'll melt you into a puddle!" Mirzam threatened. He unleashed Flamethrower on Judge.

Hearing Sableye talk about hurting Selene really riled Judge up, but he didn't have time to respond before the Vulpix launched a Flame Thrower at him. "Use Dig!" Merrimack commanded. Judge dove into the earth, avoiding the flames by tunneling deep below. "You won't escape us that easily. Sableye, Shadow Sneak and Shadow Claw!" Monitor called out. The Darkness Pokémon sank into the shadows and disappeared underground after Judge. A moment later the Iron Snake Pokémon burst from underground, writhing in pain. The sadistic Ghost-type was all over him, repeatedly piercing the Steelix's armor with his spectral claws.
Pancham Pancham was disgusted by everything he'd seen. That other Pancham, Po, had told him how Sly was a strong and proud trainer. He was strong alright, but now he was just using his strength to bully some much weaker trainers and their Pokémon. And then there were the 'Shadow Pokémon.' They were just...wrong. Each was wrapped in an evil aura. The Aggron was bad enough with it's out of control rage, but the Sableye seemed weirdly happy to hurt others. Pancham felt it was a whole other level of evil. Then there was the Fire-type that looked like a red Vulpix. He was definitely ready to fight and was trying to take on these powerful opponents. Pancham had seen Judge beat every Pokémon in the Totem Pokémon's lair, but battling this Shadow Sableye seemed to be something else entirely, and as much as he hated Sly bulling the others, Pancham couldn't help feeling that Steelix shouldn't have to fight both the Shadow Monster and that fire breathing punk. Plus, Pancham still had business with him anyway. "Hey! Your fight's with me!" He called as he threw himself at Mirzam with a Body Slam.
After everything that had happened, putting out a fire, help a girl get her pokemon from a kid thief. It was an eventful day to say the least, Sapphire and Ruby lead the girl back to the beach they were at before and relaxed there for most of the day and enjoyed the rest malasadas that was saved from earlier. As the sun was setting and getting close to night time, they had packed up the blanket and the speaker with the mp3 into the bag. Once everything was packed up, they made their way back to Malie city on the backs of Echo and Tiamat. They enjoyed the sights of the island from the air.
Soon they landed on the path, the outskirts of Malie city, and got off their pokemon's backs. "Thanks for giving us a lift you too~. You both did great." Echo gave a pleasant noise in response as Sapphire rubbed and scratched his chin and cheek area. Then a roar could be heard in the distance, it was unusual for a roar like that to be heard unless it was a totem pokemon and Sapphire had enough excitement for one day. She turned to Ruby and Hailie, "Hailie it would be best if you stayed in Malie city for the night, you don't want to be out there at night, with the night pokemon and possible creeps. Plus you don't want to get lost out there without knowing lay of the island." Then she pulled out Echo's pokeball, "Okay Echo, you earned a rest~" she said as she recalled Echo into his ball. Then she turn back to them "Hey Ruby, are your parents planning something special for dinner since you got home today?"
