 Sara looked up at the sound of her own name. She stood up, replaced the figurine, and applauded Pherein. "Congratulations!" she said. "That's a mahghty fahn pumpkin, Pherein!" She grinned and flapped a hand. "Better get it outta here before it escapes again. Meanwhahl, Ah still got that varmint t' catch!" She pointed at the kidden. "Nahce t'meetcha, Pherein."

She was glad now that she had set up the ladder. She scurried up it with a great clattering. The kidden eyed her with one slot-pupiled eye and delicately stomped on her outstretched hand.

 "thank you again for all your help. I hope you can win against that Kidden. Show it who's boss Miss Sara" Now she just needed to sneak out with that pumpkin and show Kieran. Luckily now that it had been caught it seemed content to stay in her arms

The kidden was very agile; instead of jumping to another shelf or even onto the couch, its next target was the door lintel. Sara sighed and leapt off of the ladder and onto the floor, racing across the surface to try to catch it. It never seemed to be putting forth any effort. Of course it jumped off of the lintel just as she reached it. In a display of agility to rival a gymnast (or a fakir), it jumped down, kicked off of the doorknob with a ting!!, and onto the floor and into the corner. The most impressive bit was where it treated Sara's outstretched arms as a hoop to leap over. She couldn't catch the stupid thing!

Out of the corner, behind another shelf, and wriggling behind to hide behind a wardrobe. In a bout of frustration, Sara slammed her shoulder into the wardrobe in an attempt to trap the little creature.

She regretted it almost instantly--what if she hurt it? But the sound of a raspberry between her feet, racing between her legs and through a door into another room, confirmed that it hadn't even noticed. Hadn't even been there. Gritting her teeth, Sara raced around the desk, headed for the other doorway.

The other room turned out to be a bathroom, right off of the main office. The kidden was seated in the toilet bowl, looking innocent as could be. Sara shut the door behind her with a firm snap, red eyes boring into the kidden's. "This...ends...here, kid," she snarled.

Something clicked in the kidden's eyes, as if to say, Challenge accepted. It jumped up, seemingly effortlessly, bounced off of the sink and onto the top of Sara's head. While she was swearing in shock, it jumped down to the doorknob, which turned with its weight. The door swung outwards, and it was once again loose in the office.
Sara stared in dumbfounded shock. "...Ah need a new strategy," she said as a fox ran past and a pumpkin raspberried her from the windowsill.

I'm claiming Familiar #2, please!Sara let the kidden hop away while she recollected her butterfly net, deep in thought. The trick, she decided...was to...well, probably to relax. Treat this as much of a game as the kidden did. So she watched as it jumped from surface to surface as though the entire room was made of trampolines, and followed it slowly and idly from below. Bahd yer tahm, Sara, bahd yer tahm...

The strategy paid off! On the next leap, Sara swung the net into the air. Without a hard surface to bounce off of, the kidden fell into the butterfly net with a startled bleeeeeat! Sara twisted the net over and over like her cousins had taught her to do and examined the kicking creature in the net. "Now what?" she said quietly to herself. There hadn't been any mention in the announcement of what they were supposed to do with the animals. And this one was now staring at her with enormous brown eyes...
"Yer new name is Pestilence," she said. "And Ah thank Ah'm keepin' you."

 News had traveled by this point that there were familiars on the loose in Ava's office, and Korv wanted to try grabbing one! He burst into the room, barely taking a second to assess what was around before he literally leaped for the nearest one...

Okay, weird bird moved ridiculously fast, but Korv had to admit that surprised sQUAWK was hilarious.
He took a moment to look around and then.... And then he spotted it.
The coolest familiar he'd ever seen.
A wisp with a tongue.
He needed it.
He scrambled after the thing, leaping off the desk to try and catch it mid-air....
