Aria was stunned. Sure, she ventured into the center of town, but she never flirted with anyone. Her uncle would have imprisoned her for such a trespass. "Your sister is brave to do such a thing. I don't know about where you're from, but in the town where I live..." she sighed, correcting herself, "lived the men could be utter brutes. It is highly frowned on for someone like myself to flirt anyway. I only ventured to town to go shopping."

She took a moment to study Nyssa a bit closer. She seemed like a responsible woman and Aria liked that about her. "Did you ever venture into town like your sister?"

((I never knew Aria was this much of a chatterbox! Though, it does make sense in some scenes in the story... ^_^ ))

"I wish Papa could keep such control of her. He used to send me as a chaperone, until Calista started to sneak out purposefully to avoid me." Nyssa finished her second drink and began to absent-mindedly pull at her plait again. "I only leave the house to call her back these days, and honestly that never does much good."

Nyssa would never admit it, but she probably spent more time in town than Calista. It had started a couple of years ago after Calista first began to reject her company, now it was a regular thing; Nyssa needed to watch her, to make sure that she wasn't getting into anything she couldn't handle. Calista was beautiful and brave, but she was also young. Nyssa wasn't proud of the spying, but it was a necessary evil.

She swallowed hard, trying to keep the embarrassment off her face. Aria did not need to see that.

"I wish I had a sibling. Perhaps that would take some of the pressure from uncle off of me." Aria shook her head, trying to banish the lonely feeling she always got when thinking about her childhood. "Do you ever do anything just for you? Like buying a trinket or, what did you call it, a cocktail?"
PostPosted: Mon May 23, 2011 4:29 pm

"Cocktails?" Nyssa raised her eyebrows and laughed. "No. I don't buy much for myself. There's little point since I never go anywhere worth the trouble. I buy books, mostly." She flushed, feeling the colour rise to her cheeks quickly. "Do you tend to shop much? I sometimes wish Liss was around more. She never spends time with me these days... But siblings are more nuissance than they're worth," Nyssa scoffed, attempting to hide the bubble of resentment that simmered constantly between her heart and her ribcage.

"Whenever my uncle wanted me out of the house, he would send me shopping. I have more garments and trinkets than I know what to do with. It would have been nice to have a sibling to spend time with. Being an only child has a way of driving one mad. My parents were killed not long after I was born and my uncle never had a wife, never mind children." She looked down at her dress, idly wondering if one of the slave women might have a trick to remove the dirt from the fabric.

"It was during one of my jaunts into town when my uncle arranged my betrothal to a man I've never met. While I like the trinkets, I would have much preferred being there to meet my future husband."

"Anyway, Luca, this Shadowcaster... Is he magical?" Somehow, the topic was back and Nyssa didn't care as long as she was here. Here, whatever that meant, was isolated, cut off from Exos and all of its problems.

Luciana gave a small shrug. "In a sense, I suppose. He was born in the Shadow Land, and it imbued him with the ability to move through shadows. I assume that it's some sort of innate magic, not that he ever talks about it. I have to really harp at him before he ever answers anything." She decided to try to explain further what his abilities let him do. "It's like he becomes shadow, dissolves into it. I wish he would tell me more about what it's like and how it works."

Luciana had pulled back on questioning him lately. He was more receptive when she respected his preference of silence. She got more out of him when she was patient, for all it was difficult to accomplish.

(Don't know if anyone is in here, but I'm going to go ahead and post.)

Smoothly and gracefully the door swung open, followed by a less then graceful shuffle as two people backed in. Red laced, cork heeled sandels and black scuffed work boots. Naked, smooth creamy legs, thick kacki pants. Tan.

Cut off jean miniskirt, skin tight bordering jade green tank top, obnoxiously red lip stick, shades and a hair concealing shawl, pink. Thick leather belt, complete with holster, gun, and a knife, armored vest, shocked, nay very shocked expression on a beefy man some where in the prime of life. Strained neck muscles, clenched teeth, perfect rugged, not shaven, not quite beard five o-clock shadow, and movie hunk hair, short but not buzz cut.

Small knowing smile, showing the tiniest hint of pearly teeth behind those kissable crimson stained lips, a slight change of grasp, twist, snap and down he goes. Limp as a dummy. One careful hoppish step back and she was clear. "Too easy." Breathed just loud enough to be audible before a frown, slight tilt of the head before a quick scan of the room, slowly bringing her to turn around.

"Oh." pursing her lips, her shades being slid down her nose to have a look at the room taking in the lack of chaos, lack of looting, and most importantly the not so lacking presence of people. Letting out a nervous laugh the woman pulls her shades off holding them to the side, her wrist at an angle so the frames sticks up in the air. "My...I didn't mean to crash your party, and this is defiantly not where I parked my car!"

Maggie had once more fallen into silence while conversation continued around her. This time she had kept her secret feelings at bay. Instead her thoughts had drifted to her mother. Her stomach twisted into a tight, burning knot at the thought of it. She was already going to be late coming home. What if her mother got upset? Maggie wasn't sure what kind of a mood her mother was in that day. Sometimes her mother didn't care at all whether or not she came in later than expected, while other times...Other times she cared a lot about what Maggie did. It made her very nervous, sitting in the strange bar. She hadn't even told her mother where she was. Maggie knew she needed to go, but couldn't make herself leave. She sipped at the coke she hadn't noticed had been refilled.

At the sudden thud behind her, Maggie turned and stared, open-mouthed at the woman. Anyone her own age dressed that way would have disgusted the teenager, but on a grown woman she found it difficult to object to. It was a while before she even noticed the body on the ground. Maggie gasped loudly.

This was going good, the girl was too busy looking at her then the body. Maybe just may- nope. "Shucks." She sighed shaking her head as the girl looked down at the man before she quickly schooled her face into a sheepish smile tucking her heels together pressing her stained lips together. "Woopsie?" She asked letting out another nervous laugh.

"Oh my!" Startled, Aria eyed the new arrival with the newly dropped body. "Gods, I'm not sure I want to know." Despite the body on the floor, the woman was clean like the others, making Aria extremely self-conscious about her grimy appearance.

She eyed the others tisking slightly. "Boy, looting sure wasn't kind to you two." She noted motioning to everyone else but Maggie, beore she turned to look at her. "Though looks like you got out pretty good. Wish I could get my hands on something a little bit more comfey." She smiled warmly, reaching up to tug her shawl down off her hair, the more orange then red locks all messy and sticking every which way because of the static created by the course cloth.

"I do hope he wasn't a friend of yours?" She said poking her toe at the man on the floor. Take it in stride, be cool and collected. And prey these women were harmless.

Danny slammed through the door. He tripped over the body and fell sprawling on the floor. “Oof!” Jerking his head back he followed a pair of long legs up to the shortest skirt he’d ever seen. His jaw dropped open as he tried to process the situation. With a gasp he looked back at the door. Light streamed through the glass, making it impossible to see what was on the other side. That there was unbroken glass at all seemed like a small miracle. Most importantly nobody had followed him in. “Am I dead?” He looked down at the body under him. “Or not.” He pushed himself up to his feet and tried to dust off his ragged cloths. “Hi.”

Aria tried not to stare at the woman's orange hair or the clumsy nature of the man. So long as neither intended her any harm, she could over look their behavior. Still, this cafe was getting stranger by the moment. She certainly wasn't in Terra anymore.

"Hello," she nodded a greeting to both newcomers.
PostPosted: Tue May 24, 2011 7:07 pm

"Woopsie." She repeated looking down at the man. "Guess I shouldn't leave my dates laying around, should I?" She asked then shrugged nonchalantly taking a step back before looking around the room raising her shades up to nibble on the tip of the foot of them in thought.

"Toto, I don't think we are in Kansas anymore." She drawled before letting out a dramatized sigh she sauntered over to the counter leaning on it butt sticking out one foot popped back bouncing it slightly.

Larue Tai had seen this tavern appear before, but he had never explored it for very long. Sitting between dimensions was never his idea of fun. This time, though, he was looking for a short vacation away from the palace. Why not an interdimensional cafe?

His shoulder-lengh, pale gold hair was swept in a tail at the base of his neck, so that the tips of his pointed ears were visible. He wore simple, nondescript clothes, of a black tunic and pants. Inside the cafe, he glanced around with his keen green eyes, then stepped around the corpse of a man, looking down at it in distaste.

"Seem like an exciting day," he muttered softly under his breath.
