The story mode in Fight For N.Y. gave me an excuse to make an "WORKING FOR EEEVIL but very reluctantly" costume. Though, in hindsight, I now realize i was basically dressed up like I was a part of Run D.M.C.

Chase Me To The End
Yet, you somehow don't like RE5... mrgreen
Well, I read enough about it to know I'd hate the rest of it. And it's not like I said, "I hate storylines of all action shooters." or "I hate storylines of all games that changed genres." or something like that.

Chase Me To The End
p.s. I skip cutscenes. I also kick kitties, but that's besides the point.

p.p.s. Just kidding. I fuc*ing love kitties. They're just so God damn cute.
Ahem... If it's anything like MK vs. DC... The uhh... The cutscenes are unskippable... xd

But dude, honestly, what's your hang up? What if you actually enjoy this one? I mean, you like the MK movie, right? And yeah, it's not gonna be the same, obviously, but it's still gonna have those same kick a** characters, and certain key plot points.

Hahah, yeah I loved picking just the right type of wardrobe for that.

Well, why NOT follow a storyline of a fighting game? Especially when it's presented in a coherent, linear, cutscene by cutscene manner? It's one of the best things about the Def Jam fighters.

I hate to burst the bubble but actually I admitingly didn't exactly follow the stories in the Mk games either. I did a little, but nothing to extent you do Bio xD so you got two of us here that didn't really follow it HAHAHHA.

Chase Me To The End
Don't you DARE rip on Barbie Horse Adventures. That game is legit.

rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl OH MY GOD....sorry this....this just cracks me up so hard......as hard as a....well you know. I understand what Chase is getting at though because I have the exact same attitude. I play fighting games for the fighting. If they have cool cutscenes like in the Dead or Alive series than maybe...I'd pay more attention to the story, but more or less I don't exactly care of it unless its an RPG. I'm not saying the storylines are bad. Its just....I don't care enough for it. I'd rather just beat the crap out of something without it explaining to me why I'm beating the crap out of it. But funny thing is Mk is about the only fighting series I really ever got into and the my mood died for it years ago. xD

[edit] The only reason I'd get the new marvel vs capcom 3 is because it has wesker HAAAAAHHAHAHAHHAH. You may hate the fact he's in his RE 5 outfit but to me? i don't give a s**t if he was naked or even in a leopard speedo......well okay....maybe not that far but wesker is wesker. GIVE ME MAH WESKA! oh yeah, AND IT HAS DANTE!....*pops chill pill* haha there goes my inner fangirl.

Okay, but WHEN you get this new Mortal Kombat game, are you telling me that you're gonna completely ignore its story mode? Even though it's right there. It's not time consuming, it's pretty much what you want in a fighting game, FIGHTING, except separated by cutscenes that actually tell a narrative. You're just gonna say, "Well, I'm generally not interested in it, so I won't even bother with this mode."?

okay remember how I mentioned before I have short term memory loss issues? even if i did pay full attention to it, im not going to really remember it unless i SUPER LOVE IT. lol the last MK game I got was Deception. That was the first in the series to actually have an active story mode so yeah I paid attention to it then because it acted more like an RPG. and i thought it was kind of cool. i dont remember anything about it anymore but because it added that rpg element to it, i was more interested. i didnt say anything about ignoring either. its just more of how much effort am i going to put into paying attention to it razz

[edit] WOOOO woooo woo wait. i take that back. it was........arg whats the name of it....it mainly featured just Sub Zero and his back story which actually was supposed to be more of an RPG than anything else? I know it came out long before Deception or these other newer ones did.

Yeah, Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero
It played exactly like the old school MK games, except it was a beat-em up platformer with an RPG Element experience system that let you learn new moves. And it had a kick a** storyline. And it's my favorite Mortal Kombat game in spite of not having a 2 player mode.

Here's another example, though. I usually don't play online multiplayer games. Like, ever. I would never get a game like MAG or Warhawk, because they ONLY have online multiplayer.
But take games like Metal Gear Solid 4, or Uncharted 2. I bought those games for one reason: Story Mode. I love the story, the characters, the voice acting, the single player gameplay, the graphics... But they also had online multiplayer. And even if I don't play it anymore, I did. I gave it a try, and I enjoyed it for a little bit. It's a feature that's included in the game, and it doesn't cost you anything to enjoy it, so why not enjoy it? Even for a little bit, or in the case of MK's story mode, for one playthrough at least.

oh dear Bio...i didn't say i wasn't enjoying it either. XD it has amusement factors. i mean its not like i have 0% interest. ill have an attention span for it, but my level of "caring" about it isn't very high. im not saying its bad and im not saying i dont enjoy it. i just dont "care" about it like i do for my rpg games.

Well Chase is saying that he'd rather skip the cutscenes. And he hasn't even seen any of the cutscene footage. There isn't any yet.

Then again, Chase didn't like Silent Hill 2, so I wonder about his tastes sometimes.

Oi, don't give me grief. I'm sorry, I just didn't find the game scary. That's all. I'm not saying it's a bad game or anything...

Anyways, with MK, it's just like Elena said: The story may be good, great even, but I just don't really care about it. I know enough about the characters and mythology of MK to know that it doesn't interest me.

But, if the cutscenes are unskippable, I guess I'll have no choice but to give the story a go. It's not like I'm going to get hung up about it or whatnot. Just...Yeah, the cutscenes at least better be entertaining, with less talky and more actiony.

Okay, well, I don't care about the mythology of Zelda. But if I were to play through a Zelda game (like I have with OoT or MM), I would still read what the NPCs had to say.
Especially if you know enough about the characters and the mythology. Since this is like an alternate reboot, things will be parallel to the first 3 games, but different. How can you not be intrigued by it?

I'm still hoping we'll get a Cyborg Sub-Zero and a Human Smoke in the storyline.

Intriguing yes, but only if Ed Boon sticks with his word that some of the characters might come back different...Alternate. But out of the charcters revealed thus far, it doesn't seem that way...Yet, at least.

What's this about a Cyborg Sub-Zero and Human Smoke?

Yeah, but it's also about the events that happen to those characters. They still want to strike the nostalgia factor, keep in mind. But the events that happen might be different. They hinted, for example, on the idea that it might not be Liu Kang this time who wins the Mortal Kombat tournament.

Chase Me To The End
What's this about a Cyborg Sub-Zero and Human Smoke?
Well, we've seen Sektor and Cyrax. And we know that the Sub-Zero we see is the older brother, the one that was supposed to die and turn into Noob Saibot. Which it now states that he comes back in his human state, which means no Noob Saibot.
But we don't see Smoke or the yonger Sub-Zero. And the two were supposed to excape the Lin Kuei, but Smoke got caught. So it wouldn't be impossible to imagine they decided that in this storyline it was Smoke who escaped, and Sub-Zero who got captured and automated.
