Gemmara stirred and opened her eyes. She was alert, as usual, immediately upon wakening. An irritating habit, according to her lover. She looked around the room in awe. The high ceiling, the greywork of the stones in the walls, and the carvings above the door all enchanted her. Well," she thought, "This is one place I would like to stop and explore for awhile. I wonder if they need help here, althought cooking is not one of my better talents. "What marvelous fun."
Thinking of cooking made her hungry and she sighed. Having explored her room so well that she could almost draw it in her mind, she was bored. Stepping to the door, she listened closely and heard nothing. Opening the door, she stepped out into the hallway. She looked both directions and called out softly. "Is anyone there?"

Dani lifted her head as the sound of the voice found it's way to her ears. Rising from her spot on the bed, she spread the comforter over Daz's sleeping body, then stepped quietly from the room. Once she was in the hallway, she called out softly to see if the voice had just been a figment of her imagination. She often heard voices that no one else heard. He grandfather had once told her that those voices were from the earth and to listen to them every once in a while. She'd laughed then, but since she'd started traveling more, she had begun to understand what he'd meant.
"Hello?" she called into the long, seemingly endless corridor.

Gemara stopped in the hall. The sound of a faint "Hello?" reached her ears and she turned, trying to find the direction the sound was coming from. Smoothing her wheaten hair down with one hand, she held the other clutched at her breast, grasping a mythical symbol on a leather thong. "Don't be nervous now," she scolded herself. " Nothing about this castle feels scary except for that shape-shifter. He could be scary enough for this whole castle by itself." Peering down the halls revealed some ancient tapestries and she almost forgot to look for the voice, so lost she was in their beauty

Dani easily tuned in to the voice. Her Terran background gave her a great, ready to use sense of direction. Finding the girl was no problem.
"Pretty, aren't they?" Dani asked quietly, stepping up behind her. She clasped her hands behind her back, braced for the girl's startled reaction.

Gemara had braced herself when the footsteps approached. This castle, although interesting, held many unusual beings, and she wasn't sure she was ready to meet another one. She turned and blinked when she found herself close to the pretty blonde from the previous night. A small smile curved her lips. "Greetings of the Morn. Are you feeling better ths morning, after being hauled off like a disobedient puppy last eve? This castle in wonderous, but I a little confused walking here alone. Would you like to walk together and converse for a time. I would very much enjoy it."

Dani shrugged, but smiled.
"I'm alright, I suppose." she said softly. "I would be more then happy to talk to you for a bit. Daz will probably be down for the count until tonight. He's not much of a daytime person." She passed her gaze over the woman. "I don't remember getting your name.."

Gemara smiled. "My name is Gemara Winsong. I am a wind mage from further east. I just happened to be wandering the fields at the same time you were. I have been lonely of late and would be pleased to make a new friend. Do you have an opening for one?" This time she chuckled. "A friend I mean." Your look softens when you speak of Daz. Is he a special friend, or am I being rude in asking?"

Dani's eyes went bright with laughter.
"A girl can never have too many friends." she said smiling. "Daz is more like...erm.." She struggled to find the right word. "He's more like my brother or my guardian. But he is a very good friend."

"Oh, I see. It would be wonderful to have a travelling companion such as that. I have been too long alone. My choice, I know, but lately it wearies me. I have your companion's name, but not yours? Is it hidden for some purpose?" She laughed. "My frinds call me Gemma. Would you perhaps have a nickname for such a reason? I am sorry, I do not intend to pry." Gemara stopped and flushed with embaressment. "Forgive my intrusion.

Dani lifted one shoulder in a shrug.
"My name is Danielle, but people just call me Dani." she said. "I like people, but Daz refuses to allow others to go with us when we roam. He says it's safer that way." Dani had already gone against Daz once in the past day, why not do it again. "When we leave though, you could come with us." she offered. "It's always nice to have someone else to talk to other than Daz." Her voice warmed with each question she asked and answered with Gemma. It was indeed nice to have a conversation with someone other than her silent companion, and Gemma so far had been a far cry from shy, if fact she seemed to never run out f questions to ask. Dani frequently found herself struggling to try and answer two or three questions at once while her new friend simply proceeded to ask her more. Enjoying herself, she lingered there in the hallway and soaked up the company as much as she could, unaware of the time that passed.

Lyra slowly stirred, her body automatically stretching to work out all the kinks. When she felt warmth pressed tight against her, she smiled slightly and pressed closer, not wanting to rise and face the chill that she knew surrounded her. She frowned when she felt what had probably woken her to begin with, sharp and undeniable hunger pains. She had been so consumed with what had been happening around the castle that she had neglected to ask Lucid about food. She had been unable to find any when she went looking a couple of days ago and while there had been some when she first arrived she was afraid she had emptied his stock. Sighing softly, she slowly shifted, and froze when she remembered that the warmth next to her was a person. And not just any person...Lucid. Thinking for a long moment, she decided that if he hadn't woken to all her moving around yet that if she moved carefully and was quiet she might be able to rise without waking him. She slowly pushed herself up onto her arms and glanced around the room, pleased to see that he had been true to his word in keeping the fire as well as the candles lite. They flickered sporadically and even through the black lace that surrounded the bed she could see the odd dance of movement and shadows that they played over the room. Drawing a deep breath, Lyra hesitated a along moment before shifting herself slowly into a sitting position. Freezing, she studied Lucid and sighed with relief when he did not stir. Careful not to stir the fabric of the bed to much, she pulled one of the drapes aside and rose in one fluid movement. Turning to look at him, she smiled, pleased with herself for having managed to be quiet enough to slip away from him. She had a feeling that such a thing was not an easy feat to accomplish. Tilting her head, she let her gaze move over his form, and finally she settled on his face. Drinking in his features, wondering why she felt the need to imprint them in her memory. Not knowing what else to do, she let the lace fall from her hand and turned, moving silently across the room to one of the flickering candles. It appeared as if the candle were still brand new, and only recently lite, so little of the wax had melted away. Though she knew for a fact that the candle had been burning steadily for several hours now. Shrugging she carefully wrapped her hands around the holder and lifted, not wanting to brave the darkness of the stairs without at least a bit of light to guide her way. Slipping away she surprised herself by managing to find her way back to the stairs and drawing in a breath started up them.

Gabriel moved silently down the stone steps that led deep underneath the castle structure. It had been nearly a century since his master had left him at the night club in Delmarr.
"Stick to the city, Gabriel, it is what you know." Lucid had said.
Almost a hundred long years. The time away from his master had taken it's tole on Gabriel. He knew they had needed the break from each other though. Things had gotten quite bad the night Lucid had left him. They'd fought over things the now seemed so very petty in hindsight. Things that lovers should never even worry about. Jealousy had been one of those things. Gabriel was rather over protective of what he considered his. In a way, Lucid had been his. His master. Sharing pets came with the territory when it came to Vampires. He himself had been passed around a few times, willingly of course, because his master was pleased by it.
Gabriel told himself that things would be different this time around. He had grown a lot in their time apart. Only a few things hadn't changed. He still felt a deep connection to his Master, a strength of a bond that could never be broken. He still loved his master. And he would still serve his master no matter what was asked of him, short of killing either himself of his master.
He smelled her long before he heard her or saw her. That unmistakable smell of a female. Why was there a female down here with his master? The thought occurred to him that his master probably shared his bed with others in his absence and this woman might be one of those partners. Little did he know how close to the truth he actually was. He did hasten his stride though, almost seeming to float down the stairs now instead of simply walking down them.

Lyra didn't hear or smell anything...but she sensed something. Instantly stilling, she cupped her hand around the flame of the candle to dim it and frowned in concentration. Something was definitely coming toward her. She doubted it would be Dani or the other strange female they had allowed into the castle, and Lucid had assured her there was nothing down here except for him and her. Fear quickly enveloped her mind...fear of being found. One of them might have found her. Panic stricken, she turned and ran blindly back down the stairs, glad that she had not gone too far up. Lucid was her only thought, for he represented something she had no right to ask of him, safety. Easily making her way back into the room, she set the candle on the floor a good distance away from the bed, and moved between the lace of the curtains. Going around to the foot of the bed, she climbed upon it soundlessly, slipping between Lucid and the wall. Curling herself into a small ball, she pressed tightly against his back, wondering if she should wake him. Shaking her head, she bit her lip hard enough to draw blood in an effort to calm herself down, and waited. If whatever was making it's way down the stairs came into the room she could wake him, if the noise the other one made did not first. Shivering, both with her fear and with the feel of the cold air against her skin, she focused her mind and let her other senses take over, unknowingly clutching a piece of Lucids white, silk shirt in her hand.

As he came upon the bottom of the staircase, he paused. Ahead the corridor split into two different pathways. Any other night, he would have had no remembrance of this or which path was the proper one to take. On this night, however, one pathway was lit with flickering light. He assumed candles or a fire in the hearth. He made his way slowly forward, his eyes adjusting easily to the surroundings. His boots made almost no sound on the stone floor and even less sound when the stone gave way to lush carpets. The room was exactly as he though it would be. Every comfort that he'd ever seen his Master have in any other room was here in this one. Lush carpets lined the floor from wall to wall, all of them dark in color with rich patterns in them. The bed was a huge canopy bed, four posted and all, with black lace curtains that hung from the three exposed sides. What drew his attention to the bed, however, was not the bed itself, but the occupants. His master was there, as beautiful as ever. Lucid's dark hair spilled out over the pillow in a black wave and his face was pale in the dim light of the room. He was exactly how Gabriel remembered him to be. The woman on the other side of him, however, was not familiar in any way. Gabriel caught the low growl in his throat before it had the chance to spill out. The female looked scared already. No sense in getting her even more so. He moved slowly over to his master, leaning over the male on the bed. Leaning down, he brushed a soft kiss against the sleeping vampire's temple. His gaze then shifted to the girl.
"Might I know why you are here with Master?" he asked, his voice but a whisper. He knew Lucid would wake at the mere presence of him. There was no sense in being loud.

Lucid stirred at the familiar touch, opening his eyes slightly to stare at the demon.
"A sight for sore eyes, Gabriel." he said quietly. He then became aware of the huddled mass behind him. "Lyra, this is Gabriel. He's my pet, so to speak." He shifted, slipping sideways away from the woman then. His pale gaze flicked over her features, then over to Gabriel. "He won't hurt you, I swear it." His voice held that warning tone, one that promised punishment if he was disobeyed.
