The ring I got pierced with was like a 14 gauge ring, but my parents got allworried and bought a smaller 16 gauge ring to put it because it was easier to take in and out for work. But I had already bought a 14 gauge retainer for the hole for work, so my hole closed smaller for 16 gauge ring so I would of been stretching my lip everytime I put in the retainer. gonk

Words I don't understand: gauge retainer O_o ?! Gauge is like how big the ring is. A normal earring is about 16 gauge. And my work doesn't allow facial piercings so a retainer is a alittle plastic thing you can put in so the hole doesn't close.

Stretching from a 16 to a 14 isn't hard... >.> Especially not for a soft squishy place like that... And I hope by 'normal earring' you don't mean like a stud for a lobe piercing...'cuz those are 20s...

I don't think retainers are that expensive.
