Amid my anti-Tumbleweed operation, I circle around to an area previously cleared.
"What the--? The ash is still here? Blast, where did Lickitung get off to with that dustpan?..."
I casually wave to Brian as I pass by, but he's too deep in thought to notice.

A short radio signal is picked up over the Aqua HQ, again filled with static hovering over a familiar voice.
"Can yo-.....im com-....zzZZzzt."

I found Lickitung last night, in the kitchen, trying to wash some tumbleweed ash from his tongue. For safety, I sent him home so Blissey could check him over. After that I spent the rest of the evening disposing of the ashes.
By coincidence, I happened to be near the radio when the last transmission came through.
"Hm? What was that? It sounded almost like,..." I mutter, scratching my chin in thought. "Pory, analyze that last signal and see if you can clean it up or at least figure out where it came from."
My Porygon2 appears on a nearby computer screen and gets to work.

Another signal breaks through the waves of static, this time with more clarity.
"ZZzZzzt-... -an hear this-....-thro-....-ierd activity nea-..-uous islan-....escape is imminen-....-ot coming throu-...come in-.....TADS is dow-....epeat-....not....zzzt"
The signal dies out with a pop, leaving behind a dead silence.

"Pory! Get on that second signal! See if you can triangulate the origin. He definitely said something about an island, and 'escape is imminent.' If only there were others here...."
I pull up some charts to see what island he may have been talking about.

Shaydas stepped into the air-conditioned HQ common room and sighed, standing under a vent to let the cool air wash over him. He stared at a spot on the ceiling with his arms outstretched to either side. "I'd almost forgotten what it feels like to be inside a halfway decent building," he said aloud to no one in particular. The deserts of Orre had not been kind to him over the last month or so. A noticeable scar had appeared diagonally across his face from a battle with a flock of Skarmory. He stood perfectly still under the cooling breath of the AC, feeling a sense of peace and calm.
