If you're looking for in depth information on the systemof Communism itself and not so succesful attempt by most societies, I'd suggest simply reading a book on Russian history, not necasarily the soviet history, but thehistory in general may be good.

I already know what I want to know, nor do I have much of a desire to learn much more currently. I understand the basics, I'd rather learn about the failures of american democracy.
