[ ^o^ You are so sweet and kind Dea! I would be so glad to be your maiko! *Bows a gabillion times!* whee I have found a very good 'kneeling' base - your siggy picture will make a lovely doll! whee ]
She clasped her hands together with a light laugh and her dark eyes shone.
"How wonderful for Tora-san! Although I did not know her well, I had hoped that she would become a geisha - she is so kind and polite to everyone, and very beautiful. I am so glad to hear of her success!"
Shiori smiled and bowed respectfully. "I am also deeply honored to return to the Kazenotanpopo Okiya. I hope that things have been well here - my aunt has told me that it remains the most distinguished of the local okiya. I hope that I can be of good service to you and all the maiko and geisha. I apologize that I had left so suddenly before."

AkanoChan RosePetals91 (Akano chan, you need to talk a little more in your posts. i admit i'm not exactly literate and i dont use quotes i use asterisks, but rather than just on sentence why not describe where she is and such, how she feels a bit more... you probably already know this and i'm rambling nonsense but ya know, i needta get my thoughts out 3nodding ) (okay, sorry. I am was just confussed so i went to read some of the older post. I will work on it.)

Shiori nodded and bowed once more to the geisha, her long furisode sleeves touching the shining floor. Then she smiled towards Akano, a fellow maid it seemed. "Here and there, good sister. I lived with my mother for a while again to help her, but she went from the world a year ago. I have been living with my aunt since then .. " she glossed over the sadness and the pain of those two years carefully, not wanting to seem over-dramatic and whiny in her first moments of being back.
"Serena-san, I think that firstly it would be good for me to make sure my things are packed properly so that they do not get in the way of anyone. Then, if I may, I could cook a special dinner for all the girls?"
From somewhere nearby she could hear the lilting tunes of a flute being played by skillful fingers.

"Oh no, Akano-san." Shiori gave a strained smile. "You see, I am very confidant that my mother has gone to a better life. She was a very good women, and loved everyone so dearly. I miss her more than anything but I am very glad for her."
In reality she had only recently been able to tell herself this - a monk had told her that her mother would have a good incarnation - and she had actually laughed in his face. She for a time had been a mad thing indeed. But since then, the words he had said had been her only comfort. Now she put her total faith in them. Every night for a year she had wept before the Compassionate Mother in her meditation, praying for what she knew not. It was all she could do for the moment.

Miyoko smiled thoughtfully. " As it always should." She twirled around and hummed. Her mother had always said her voice was beautiful. " You will be very sucessful,my little nightingale." she had once said. Miyoko stiopped danceing. " Oh,Rose-san. I'm sorry,I must go. I'm still a maid, and I have much to do. But promise me,we shall talk again soon. I do enjoy our conversations!" she got on her knees and bowed. " goodbye for now!" as she picked up her mop and bucket she couldn't help but smile one more time at her new found friend

" Oh,Rose-San,I would love it if you came into town with me! There will be a bit more food than useual though. I heard a maid came back recently. So,I hope that's not a bother." She put the mop and bucket into a supplie closet and slipped a pair of shoes on her feet. " Let's go, then shall we?"

Shiori bowed to the group and on swift feet went to the maids' quarters. Her bedding, personal objects, jewelry, makeup, and special kimono had been placed alongside one wall in her low ornate chest, lacquered in black and damasked in golden threads. Next to this was a lovely shoji screen made of dark wood.
First she took all of her kimono (of which she had a fair amount) and hung them with reverence in an empty closet. After laying out her bedding and arranging the screen so that she would have personal space, she looked outside for a moment and looked to see which direction was true west.
At the bottom of the chest were several objects wrapped in white silk. Carefully she removed from it a white porcelain statue of Kwannon, and an image of the resting Buddha in carved wood, and placed them side-by-side upon the lid of the chest, which would act as her alter. Also she laid upon it two small bowls, empty for now, and her small jewelry box. She would gather the rest of her devotional objects in town - the uncooked rice, spring water, salt, red flowers, and sweets if she could get them.
Returning with a woven basket she caught up with Miyoko and the other girls. She opened the sliding front doors for them, and after slipping on her shoes made her way down the path. The afternoon was very warm and bright - a gentle breeze blew down the lane.
