Been de-cluttering my home and re-purposing stuff that I can use. Been working with my vacuum sealer, and that has been fun. Soo, yeah, I have been a little busy.

Nice to know its not too late to start planting. I started my first day of work at my Uncle's new bistro, grand opening is soon. I know nothing about being a hostess.
Anyway, I came back after the first day frustrated and frazzled, went to the yard picked a spot and started yanking weeds. Then found some tomato plants popping up and transplanted two into a pot, since I'm planning on remaking the plot I found them in.

I feel as though today was rather productive:
Wrote a rough copy of a cover letter for my resume, baked my first loaf of bread ever, and then went to yoga class. Feeling pretty good at the moment. We'll see how long I can keep up the routine though, haha.

Esiris How did the bread turn out? Not too shabby, though it could have been better. It's edible and has a nice flavor. Perhaps I'm too much of a perfectionist. I'll get it one of these days. haha

dragon_of_emry About the weed and feed: if it has atrazine as the herbacide then it is extremely toxic. The nursery I used to work at quit selling it after we saw a high number of customers with trees and bushes dying near where they had applied the product. (and they weren't shy about selling toxic chemicals.) One of my coworkers said that the EPA (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency) was considering banning the chemical. I looked into its effects on people and they are awful. IMO not worth the exposure. Thanks for the information. No weed n feed yet, but plenty of bitching! My boss is the biggest jerk I have ever worked for. And I've had a lot of jobs! Esiris I got a beautiful treadle sewing machine! pictures, pictures, pictures, pictures, pictures ninja Corky Sugarmuscle I feel as though today was rather productive: Wrote a rough copy of a cover letter for my resume, baked my first loaf of bread ever, and then went to yoga class. Feeling pretty good at the moment. We'll see how long I can keep up the routine though, haha. Good luck with the cover letter. I always found them difficult. What type of bread did you make? My friend has a Kitchen Aide mixer that I would like to try out. --- Both cats are huge pains now. I am now pestered relentlessly for "outs". Bones walks fine; Evangeline is really skittish. (I picked her up when a skateboarder was passing and got pee'd on. Lol.) I don't mind walking them, but not every day, not at ten at night, not when it's raining, not when I just got home, not when I'm in the shower. My goodness.

Today, I opened up a Japanese language book and learned how to count in Japanese! Next step is to make flash cards with the Hiragana on them! smile Excited. Hm...what else, OH! picked up a copy of Breakfast at Tiffany's. My favorite book ever. <3
Half-Price books is the bomb!
Does anyone here speak Japanese? I though it would come in quite useful when I decide to go across the water and teach English.

pirhan Good luck with the cover letter. I always found them difficult. What type of bread did you make? My friend has a Kitchen Aide mixer that I would like to try out. Thanks, hun. I may need it. Cover letters certainly aren't my cup of tea. But I can see why they're a necessary evil. As for the bread, I just made a simple whole wheat recipe. It tastes fine, but I've deduced that I didn't let it rise long enough. Oh well...at least I learned for next time. I know how you feel about the cats wanting to go out all the time. My dog is the same way. The last few times I've taken her out though, she hasn't done anything. Just walked around in circles. It's aggravating sometimes. D;

Wompus Does anyone here speak Japanese? I though it would come in quite useful when I decide to go across the water and teach English. A Japanese exchange student taught me their counting game - it's like Patty Cake. I have to keep on top of language, or I forget it. sweatdrop :3 Depending on what you're applying for, you can use words from postings. For instance, if you're looking to be an admin assistant, you can use stuff like "team player but will excel at independent work" (see last bullet on link), and so forth. Just plug in what you're after at a big job board like Monster and get a gist of the buzz/popular words used and drop them into your cover letter (or even resume).

I didn't have to go to town today, and I was so glad! The tornado damage is just almost unbelievable. It takes your breath away.
The garden spot is still too wet to plant anything. We were trying to get it ready to plant before the tornado hit, and didn't get done. Then the next day, flash flooding----between the storms Sunday and Monday, there was so much rain that it came just 3" short of the top of a 5-gallon bucket. The town where the kids went to school was evacuated, it was a mess! The electricity was out, so we listened to a local radio station for weather, and ended up spending about 5 hours at the truck stop, where we would no sooner get out of the shower area (tornado sirens were blowing) before we were sent there again............the past week-plus has been an experience that I never want to repeat. Tornadoes and floods, funerals and reunions......it gets to you after a while. So, finally, today I've spent a hot, sweaty, glorious day planting tomatoes (16 of them, 10 different varieties) and peppers (4 each, Anaheim and Ancho) in 4-gallon nursery pots, then planting mixed flowers in four 15" saucer-shaped pots. Got to murder a few thousand ants along the way. My husband got fried chicken dinners in town for all of us, so no one had to cook. Then it was time for coffee and brownies and a magnificent sunset. It was great, sunburn included! At last. Just what we all needed---a day of relative normalcy.
