After dispatching the short-wearing Youngsters with ease, Tommy mad his way to the back of the gym, where Roark, the Oreburgh mine gym leader, resided. "Well, based on what I saw, you're a pretty strong trainer! Something tells me this isn't your first time at a gym."
"You could say that," Tommy said sheepishly. "Shall we get started?"
"The question is, do you want to have a high-level battle, or a battle using weaker pokemon?"
"Hmm... I need them to save their strength for later. How about a low level battle?"
"Sounds good to me. This'll be a three-on-three match! Engarde!"

Tommy sent out his pokemon, his Venipede. Roark, at the same time, tossed Geodude to the stage. Venipede was the faster of the two. Roark was slightly baffled by the appearance of a pokemon he'd never seen before, but remained calm, cool, and collected. Much like Nick's Gloom, Venipede assumed a fighting stance. Or a crawl, at least. Whatever you would call it.

Memo sent out his Joltik, Raiga, and battled!

Raiga(Joltik) VS Heracross

"Electroweb!"
Heracross was covered in a sticky thread that shocked it!
"Heraa!"
It countered with a Seismic Toss, but Memo knew what to do!
"Catch onto a branch, Raiga!"
As Raiga was about to be thrown into the earth it shot out a web that pulled out of the grasp and left Heracross crashing into the ground herself!
"Great Ball, go!"
The boy watched as the ball wriggled and then stopped!
"Yes!"

"Sounds like a plan." Nick grinned, following his friends down.

After a few minutes of walking, the group soon arrived at the museum.

The woman who had taken their fossils was waiting for them at the front desk. On the desk sat an Archen, and two Tirtouga. "I am so glad to see you, your Pokemon are very odd, we have never seen them here in Sinnoh." She said.

Rex smiled, taking his Tirtouga into his arms. He thanked the receptionist sincerely. "Thank you very much."

Memo snatched up his new Tirtouga and spun.
"Ahahah! Heya, Kira!"
As the boy blinked a couple of times he noticed something a bit off about his Tirtouga.
"Chika?"
"Yeah I know huh?"
Both Cerza and the boy were a bit confused, but put fer in the ball anyway.
"Hey guys wait up!"
Memo held his egg tightly and followed his friends out.

"Penn, Screech!" The harsh noise lowered the Geodude's defense.
"Rock Polish!" This sped up Geodude by a lot. "Now, Rock Polish again!" This raised the Geodude's speed to an very high level.
"Crap. Bug Bite!" Penn rushed after the rock ball of a pokemon and crunched into it, in a bug like way. There was no berry to be eaten, though it wouldn't have mattered anyways.
"Now, Stealth Rock, muh man!" Geodude tossed out a bunch of sharp pointy rocks all over Tommy's side of the field.
"Frick! Another Bug Bite!"
"Rock Throw!"
"Bug Bite!" After spamming Bug Bite three times, the Geodude finally went down. However, Tommy's Venipede was already almost out of stamina. Roark sent out his next pokemon, his Onix.

"You've gotta be kidding! Screech!" Tommy roared in helplessness, knowing the Onix was faster. The Onix's defense dropped very low, but raised his speed even further still before being hit by the harsh noise. A quick RockSlide finished off Tommy's Venipede. Tommy called out his Oshawott, Daikenki, who took damage from the Stealth Rock, and then bound by the Onix itself. "Alright, Razor Shell, scalchop!" Oshawott removed the shell from his chest and as best he could slashed at the Onix's body. The move was so effective, thanks to STAB, lowered defense, weakness, etc., that the Onix released his squeeze and fell to the ground, knocked out. Daikenki placed his scallop back on his chest, puffing out his chest to show his strength to the non-existant ladies in the crowd.

Roark smiled, and pulled his final pokeball from his belt after returning Onix. "Here goes!"

"Same here!"
Memo hugged his egg close to his face and rubbed it against his cheeks. Cerza couldn't help but laugh.
"What do you think they could be? Hehe."

Rex smiled. "Hey, since we are here, let's check out the gym." Rex suggested. They were heading in that direction anyways.
