"Well don't you have high examples. But I assure that you are not underestimating me." So he would let the subject sit at that. Malik could wonder all he wanted and Sevilin was content to let him do just that.

A slight tilt of his head before he righted his posture. "So, you're worried that she's going to best your slave trade and thus make it null and void, which means you giving it up." He'd got to a diferent trade...because she asked him to or found something equal? Why not just have both? Again another one of those odd aspects when it came to Malik. "You'd give up your business upon her request and reparations? Slave trades never die, others do."

Hm, she may have to go see Broog again this week. In fact...he'd be an integral part of her planning it seemed. The metal was the lock, the leash was the key...therefore she'd need her own little provision of leashes...and a master one at that. Quite proud of herself that she was thinking these lines. Though her thoughts turned to other things...like how she was planning on supplying herself. After all, Malik would notice if his metal and supply stocks were being dipped into.

"On the contrary, slave trades do die. it's dyign now in Deep water, and soon it will in Honoursfield. the Drow cities, of course, will still be fine. but two third of buisness is going to hell. I've worked through and around some of the loopholes for now but it's only a matter of time before those get shut. damned Jiscal."

Who still hadn't responded to his offer. fine, let them all starve, he coudl care less for the human cities.

"Other trades, however, don't die. for example, shelter and clothes and food. but there is so much competition in those fields that it's not near as lucrative a venture."

She giggled at the barrage of noses in her personal space and sat back up rather quickly. "Hello all of you. I sit down and I get all the attention hmm? Well that works for me, I suppose." She petted at each in turn and nuzzled back when they nuzzled her. Everything was right with the world when it was just her and the horses. She couldn't wait until it was time to break them to the bit and finally be able to ride them and it would be even better when breeding could happen and they could somehow get a winged Nightmare. Oh that would be fantastic.

"I repharse then, it doesn't die anywhere important." So, Malik was having business troubles was he? That was an interesting thing to note for sure. "Well then, it would be a good thing that shes gone to work on that for you now isn't it?" It could of been mocking, then again maybe it wasn't . Sevilin liked to talk double sided.

"Common place trade items are only going to work well, if you have something to set you apart from the rest. But that's the problem with common items, they're exactly what they say they are. Common." Though it really didn't mean impossible did it? Just a challenge.

She couldn't believe she was going to have to ask Malik for things. Or maybe she could merely take what he wanted and leave a note on the books. He could yell at her later about it. Or better yet he could account her little experimenting as a form of him spoiled her. That was a good one. Hm, would probably have to talk circles with him to get a more in depth grasp of this metal's working. But she turned her mind from what she was doing to another task on her mind, and took to sketching designs for that as well.

By this point she among foals who had tired themselves out some and were lying down around her. Though there was the occassional pick at her or another one of each other, or the occassional power flare up. Seemed the little winged Zephyrs only inherited the wind born powers from thier father, as well as his hide shifting ability. Though there was still the flame tempest who was lording herself over the other and had more of Zahara than the others, her front half draped over Zahara's lap.

"Like you said, no place important is losing buisness. I can make plenty from the drow cities. but fact remains it injures the buisness overall on the profits. If she can provide something as worthwhile, I can always keep the drow slave trade off my books, so to speak. makes her happy, keeps her content."

A mental p***k, ah yes, tea was done.

"If you'll excuse me."

And he got up, heading into the back of the kitchen, and pouring that concotion into Zahara's tea.

"Make sure she drinks it. I don't need a bitchy from pain female drow around. that should help calm, and possibly prevent the pain to some degree. and send it out with Piper's girl. the little one."

Less likely to question about it if piper's personal little servant delivers it. Then back out to Sevilin.

"There was something brought up the other day that I was minorly curious about you. You're a master rune mage, in a society where you'd be sacrificed for even attempting to learn such. and as we've seen, screwing up can be fatal or crippling. so who did you con into teaching you such things? Surely no female would have taught you."

Black fingers tangled in that flaming mane and Zahara marveled at the ability of the animal to keep what should normally hurt from burning her and she patted the Tempest lightly whispering drow words of praise to her. She was such a little beauty. Of course every time one of the others nipped or nudged her she gave them attention as well but for now she was more than happy to just sit there with the tired horses. "Tired yourselves out, hmm? Doesn't surprise me, though I wonder where your mother and father are. Neither of them have been around, at least not where I've seen."

He chuckled lightly. "So you can and do lie to her to keep her in the dark. Here I was beginning to think you all but gave into her on everything her little selfish heart desires." It was amusing to say the least really.

But his attention turned to finsihing off his drink and then realy concentrating the few minutes Malik was gone, on what he had going on that paper. He was working it through on his mind, and went about making a few changes. Though his attention was caught again.

But Malik got a litle of a frown before his expression went neutral again. "I didn't con anyone. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time when the opportunity arose. It's amazing, the things that can be offered to a child in hopes of producing someone grand. And no, a woman didn't teach me." Elusive as frustratingly ever, eh Sevilin?

Keely about paled two shades. After all, she was in the kitchen so she couldn't pretend the message never got to her. Why did she have to do it?! Then again...Zahara was Piper's friend...and Piper wasn't really into the habit of hanging around the evil crowd. Though a gulp as the cup was shoved into her hands and she was pushed out of the kitchen. So with a sigh, and cup in hand she made her way outside to the stables to give it to Zahara.

Her ears twitched at the sounds. She knew them, the blue elf and the funny haired elf talked to mom like that every so often. More so the blue one. But she didn't understand it, just knew it had a slightly soothing quality. A little nicker to Zahara. Though her eyes turned with another nicker as Keely stood in the stable door. Look its the girl who helps take care of us

Praises continued to flow forth, for the Tempest and the others as well since they made Zahara happy to say and she knew they liked hearing her voice like that. Elvish languages had a tendency to soothe, much like music. Her fingers continued their idle combing through her mane and she gently brushed her palms against the soft nose. Of course her nicker alerted Zahara to Keely's presence and violet eyes watched the little human for a moment trying to figure out how she knew her. Ah, Piper's favorite little girl. "Keely, welcome to my sanctuary my dear, what can I do for you?" a sweet little smile at the girl. Zahara was feeling much better as the pain in her stomach had gone away and she was getting loved on by the horses.

"Interesting. Sheer dumb luck, that you are a master rune mage. Of course I coudl say the same for being a shadowknight for myself. So lets see. a woman didn't teach you, that woudl mean it was male. and still a child, you probably wouldn't have made it to teh surface variety of your kin, from what piper tells me. so either a male rune mage from teh surface came down to the underdark, or another male in hiding found you. Or perhaps, from your frown..you were taught be a surface elf? the reason you dislike to think on it?"

Malik leaned forward abit.

"Kieran recommended you..which means your probably the best of the drow he's seen as far as a rune mage. that also leads me to beleive either your teacher in unknown to most..particularly with Kieran's nose for trouble and information digging for his journals..or perhaps deceased. which coudl lead to wondering if the younger mage disposed of the older mage."

Keely was really trying to think on how to approach this. Zahara seemed nice enough...and if the foals liked her then hey, she had to be okay. Those little ones were fickle. Clutching the cup and being careful not to spill she walked over, giving Zahara a smile. "Hello." And her hands held put the cup towards Zahara. "Um, this is from the house, it's supposed to make you feel better, since you're not feeling well." Should she mention Malik had sent it?

Oh look Malik was good. But if Sevilin was showing any dislike at Malik hitting the nail on the head, it wouldn't be known. He was fabulous at hiding his emotions in blank expressions and facades. "You're very perceptive, Lord D'Vinn." Alright, he'd give Malik the fact but not the reaction, nor that it was the cause of his extreme hate for surface elves. Well only a part of it.

"Maybe he recommended me on the sheer fact that I would not ask for much other than free passage off of plane, and that a woman would kill him on site where as I enjoy the hunt. Though I'm the only male drow master rune mage you'd find. But if you must know...he lives. Though isn't...overly sociable..." The tone hinted at somethign darker. Let him wonder on that.

White brows knitted together and she studied Keely and the cup for a moment before nodding. Came from the house? What a sweet one Piper was. Zahara wasn't naive enough to believe that she'd gotten away from her earlier without Piper realizing what was going on and Piper had a potion made for her to take away that pain. "Well thank you, I didn't think anyone knew I wasn't feeling well." She took the cup from her and sniffed it but without questioning it any longer she lifted the cup to her lips and took a sip. Tea. Must have something inside it, a stomach agent no doubt. Either that or a muscular discomfort soother. But Zahara merely drank the tea down and then handed the cup back to Keely. "Send my thanks to Piper, Keely, and thank you for bringing it out here."
PostPosted: Sat Apr 01, 2006 5:00 pm

Perhaps for a mere second, confusion flashed in her eyes but it didn't stay there long. Thank Piper...alright. It made sense in a way. After all, Piper could pass thanks onto Malik...seeing as everyone in the place knew that Malik and Zahara hated each other. "Alright, I will. And you're welcome." But she took the cup back with a smile, looking inside to make sure she drank it all like had been mentioned. Thus she gave a happily little smile and skipped off back inside. Only to stop next to Malik and flash him the inside of the cup to show him it was indeed all gone before taking it to the kitchen.

"And I'm sure the reason for that is becuase you saw to it."

Malik knew well enough about th drow way, and those kind of comments. in Neriak, someone who wasn't 'overly sociable' was either physically unable to be sociable, under death threat to not be sociable, or both. usually both. though aglance at Keely and that cup, that got a bit of a dark grin. great. now we get to see the games really heat up, with any luck.

"Maybe I did...or maybe someone else decided to deliver a brand of justise unto him." Though there was a sort of edge in his voice, the type that he got when he was being pushed. After all, he didn't like Malik digging too deep into his life. He could deal without the jests and barbs that the drow cousin would do doubt deliver. Though his look did get more defensive at Malik's grin about that cup.

She thought she had everything down now. Seemed to all work out...though there was probably a hole in the plan somewhere that she would find upon working it, or Malik would point it out once he found out about it. Though she was sure she could work it at least to some extent, personally test everything out and what not. Closing her little work book she went to her closet and secreted it away with that bar of silver. Spend too much time cooped up in a room and Malik may ask too many questions.

Malik only chuckled. he knew he was pushing and that Sevilin was suspecting something perhaps with the drinks for both of them. but that was all he was going to elaborate on that. though another glance toward the upper floors. What is Innoruuk's name was she doing? He knew she wasn't asleep. she was planning something.

"So how are you feeling now, a bit more rested I hope?"
