Okay that got another one of those stoic looks from Sevilin. Surface trash laid...claim...to Malik himself and he openly admited it. Honestly, it was either a perverse game being played out between the two to see who won or it was sheer manipulation. Though in his opinion, he gave that thing far too much freedoms at all. Be she pet or not, she was still the lower on the food chain so to speak.

"Zahara would rip that surface elf of yours apart in a matter of seconds if given the initiative to. No matter how adept you might think her to be at surviving down here." Which in his opinion she wasn't very well. Had someone watching over her rather than doing it herself. "We both know that."

High elves!? Then again it made a perverse type of sense. High elves and thier needs to bring 'divine justice' unto others. They did take prisioners after all when it came to thier endevours, called the capture 'mercy' as opposed to killing their enemies. Sure she was speaking on the Cala'Quessir she knew, but High elves didn't vary that much from each other. Besides, she'd somewhat experienced the Norrathian high elves as well. No wonder Malik admired them in some fashion, they had provided the secrets to his control. Information was fun. "Very good Broog. You did very well. And you know what happens when you do well for me, you get to have anything you want that's within reason." Then she held up a finger. "Oh but one last thing, can I have a piece of the metal you make collars with?" She knew he wouldn't deny her but she phrased it as a question none the less.

"I think you underestimate Piper. She coudl finish Zahara long ranged in one shot, I have no doubt. close range..I'd put them about even. Zahara is good with her daggers, and so is piper with her dagger and whip."

Not to mention Piper coudl tap into Malik's skill if needed.

"There are many things about Piper you don't know. and those things are such to give her a lot more skill and endurance then you give her credit for."

Broog gave the usual grin and clap. before he quieted at her question. Why woudl she want a piece of the metal? he was confused and it showed on his face. but he shrugged lightly and got himself up, going to his work desk and looking through the drawers and laying out four different meal bars. for Broog, they were little. for Piper, they were like the bars used by banks.

"Mez gots lotsa barses. fer da differnt metals. wez gots da veloom, da guld, da silfer, and da elektroom."

"I don't underestimate her. She may be good at far range, but Zahara would never allow her the distance. But I doubt she's been training all her life to virtually make her weapons a part of herself like we drow do. Zahara could and probably would eventually wear her down and strike even harder then." Ever watch a battle between Surface and Underdark elves? They were long and probably amusing in a wrong way.

Though a little shrug as he continued on the path. Sevilin refused to say the elf's name and merely stuck to calling her what she was instead of his preferred term for her. "Regardless of things I do not know, there will always be base facts. Skill an endurance mean nothing if you don't have the head to apply them properly...last I checked, running into the Underdark unharmed is foolish.

"Besides...mix blood little princesses do have thier uses I guess." Oh yes, he knew that. And was also instigating something about the supposed relationship between the two, but subtly enough to keep himself from direct accussatons and thus trouble.

Oh joy, enchanted metal that came in bar form. It was just like Malik to be so efficent wasn't it? Good thing she was used to carrying things that might be a bit on the heavy side. Walking over to the bench she ran fingers over each a moment before picking up the bar of silver. How could she resist silver after all? But one of those smiles, and she patted his arm affectionately. Despite her underlying p***k of fear from him...he was an ogre after all. "Well thank you Broog. Now remember, you just ask for whatever you want within reason and I'll make sure you get it, okay?"
PostPosted: Sat Apr 01, 2006 12:48 pm

"Perhaps. But Zahara is young, as is Piper. they woudl both try to play to strengths. for Zahara, she would probably first try her magics, assuming Piper had no such ability..or was untrained. that woudl give Piper the chance to get some range. but if she did go for toe to toe. Piper's been through some very...interesting situations. I do think she'd give Zahara a close run if not best her."

Though a slightly raised brow at that last comment. Sounded like he was implying that Malik's interest was more in the opportunity to unite and possible control her parent's realms through her. Or use her to get his own heir to the respective thrones.

"So tell me something, do you know anything about elvish bonds?"

Broog gave his usual big grin and nod, before plopping down and getting back to his jewelry making, and back to humming nad singing the song he was singing before Piper came to see him.

Zahara was curled up onto her side in the fetal position as the pain in her abdomen got worse. It was too early for the pain of instincts, wastn' it? But then at the same time she hadn't dealt with them for a really long time to know what as normal and wahat wasn't. She refused to reverie and instead decided to deal with the pain. It would lessen here soon and then she could go about her daily business. For all the toher elves knew, she was studying up in her room. A half hour later, the pain had become almost bearable so she pushed herself up and decided that perhaps the horses might take her mind off of the discomfort. Besides it felt better to be up walking around and quieted the angry monster currently residing in her stomach. Walking downstairs she bypassed Malik and Sevilin, ignoring them both and headed to the kitchen for sugar, then right outside where she fed that sugar to the younger ones.

He chuckled lightly. "You forget to mention that no drow will fight fairly, especially if it's life and death that are the stakes. Besides, being young
is nothing but a hinderance for them both, especially surface elves." There was a big difference in rearign really. Surface elves were generally pampered till they were one hundred, drow it was fend for yourself as soon as you could walk.

"Leutha`Tala as the surface elves call it and engage in it." Yes, he knew teh term and he knew the circumstances. He did after all spend quite a bit of time on the surface as well as his studies were forced to include such knowledge. No rune mage would be Master if they didn't know how to paralyze a bond. At least a drow rune mage. He knew they could be quite the tool. "Personally I think they exaggerate it."

Piper smiled to herself as she left, silver bar of enchanted metal in her hands. What exactly was she doing? Perhaps even Piper couldn't remember the original reason, but a fantasic idea had popped up in her head. The basic use of the metal was to contract on command and to expand back to it's original size when that comman was dropped. Oh yes, she had a wonderful wonderful idea. Let us go stash this in our room for right now though yes? If this idea worked out...well she'd certinaly find a way to market it. Give Malik a real run for his business.

She was instantly crowded by little horses, all vying for attention and suger. Yes they did love her to death, though there was disscention among their ranks. The two winged ones were happy to play follower to the little flame tempest, but her and her armor brother were always shoving each other around trying to get that top spot over everyone else. Aw, herding instincts. How cute.

"I've seen it in action. I would say thier description is fairly accurate."

Let him digest that bit for a moment. though he did briefly glance at Zahara. ah out and about. Good. now he coudl drug her too. And lets see how Sevilin woudl react in about..thirty minutes. he might start noticing the little 'star flower' a bit more.

"Though. since it is unlikely that they will ever come into such a conflict, this is all speculation."

Being with the horses always buoyed her spirits and she found herself laughing at their antics. Stroking the Tempest she fed her some sugar first, "You get more and more like your mother every day." Of course the others would need attention as well and they were all given equal amounts, Zahara was not stingy when it came to love and sugar, she gave them freely in equal amounts to whoever wanted it. If Serino or Nightmare had wandered over, they too would have been loved on and given treats. The dull ache in her stomach died down even more and for the first time in a while she found herself actually smiling and happy. It was a nice way to be. "What are you rascals up to, hmm? Staying out of trouble I hope."

"As have I. It is only useful if it is open...shut it down or numb it and it does no good. Surely you should know that if you seem as well versed as you are about them." How was that for counter argument, that also hinted at the fact that Sevilin may or may not know how to keep bond influence to a factor that need not be counted.

Zahara was paid no mind to at all. After all, he'd have to deal with her far too soon the next day. Not to mention his current lounging around the place made thier paths crossing a risk he was taking for the sake of rest. Eh, he could always rune her quiet and away from him.

"Unlikey but a possibility as anything else. I doubt you'd want to loose her to a petty fight though. With you around, Zahara wouldn't even get the chance to kill her." Oh he knew from previous battles that if Piper needed help, everything else and everyone be damned.

She had wrapped up that silver bar in a random piece of cloth and stashed it in the back of her closet on a shelf. And now she was going through a few of her old books that she used for her own reference. Eventually she pulled out from the bunch a little brown leather bound book and eager flipped through pages that had quite the bit of sketching and writing on them, done in her own hand. Brilliant idea indeed.

Of course I'm like my mom! She's the best, didn't you know? Sugar was eagerly nibbled out for her soft little nose was bumping at Zahara's palm, looking for pets. Yes, she was certinally the the most forward when it came to what she wanted. Her brother was just stubborn, and the two winged zephyrs were compliant as ever, happy to just be included in the mix. Though it wasn't too long before the two zephmares were going at it again and the two winged zephyrs were on side lines or trying to avoid being tumbled in to. They still all easily lost thier balances.

Malik didn't comment on that. Of course Zahara wouldn't get the chance if he was around. But another littel thing to store away in teh event of a betrayal or shift in loyalty.

"Speaking from experience, or just what your studies have told you about it..as far as being able to dull or close such a thing?"

Always good to try and get a little information. And what was Piper up to. hadn't seen her much of the day. and the other thought, how to get Zahara to drink this little potion. hmm. slip it in a tea, perhaps. somethign that can be talked off as a clamer for her pain. double drug her. that'd be interesting.

Rolling her eyes she watched the others play and gently stroked the Tempest's soft nose. An extra piece of sugar was given to her since she was Zahara's favorite and she stepped back and crossed her arms watching them play. It was really nice to just be able to relax so she plopped down on the ground and crossed her ankles, leaning back and supporting her upper body on her palms. If the others got curious she'd have a visitor shortly, if not shes was content to merely watch them.

Sevilin only gave one of those perhaps male egotistical smiles at Malik's question. "That, Lord D'Vinn is perhaps for now a secret better left kept. I can't give away all of my wonders to you now can I? Those cost extra and quite the coin." Only way Malik was going to get personal skill informaton would be if he paid for it. That's just how Sevilin was.

"Why the interest in such a thing? After all, aren't bonds supposed to be something one shouldn't worry about in the Underdark?" It was a challenge without openly being one as well.

Her father's attention to detail and her mother's attention to planning were showing through in the little elf as she was lying on her bed on her stomach, legs kicking in the air as she not only wrote but drew out the things going on in her head as well. Yes, she was quite giddy about it...and it would help her out to. Kill the bane that her kind often got frustrated with. Would make a pretty penny too. Piper gave a giggle, the gold flicking in her eyes.

Oh that was it. She got down on thier levels and they weren't intersted in each other anymore. Though there was a little shoving from the tempest to be first to snuffled at Zahara. After all, she was usually above them. So came the normal actions of four little foals, looking for attention and being curious, snuffled and prods, nips and licks. Practially at a little mobs mercy, though they were all being gentle in that cautious way.

Malik smirked lightly.

"any and all potential advantages must be assessed and accounted for, Sevilin. and I do mean any. I have heard of drow females using teh bond on favored males to not only make them feel important, and give them access easily to secrets, but to keep them on a tighter leash than any other. while a drow does learn to counter mental assessments, it's primarily females that ar taught all it's intricacies. thus, the male is less able to guard his own mind as the female is."

A glance upstairs, what was she up to. then toward the stables, before a light touch on Malvolence alerted one of the kitchen staff to prepare a pain medication tea for Zahara, but not give it to her till he had come to check on it.

"All possibilities need to be viably countered, or prepared for."

PostPosted: Sat Apr 01, 2006 2:40 pm

"That bond is nothing but a forced and false one. Any bonding a drow does, certainly doesn't equate to the so called sacred bond that the surface elves hold so highly. Not nearly as effective...drow are just too hostile and guarding. Though I shall retain my information. You can be content with the fact that I am yours for service. Isn't that enough?"

In truth? He had done it. Assassinating bonded elves was a pain in the a**, they could help each other far too easily and take him on in quite the show. Shutting it down was effective and threw them into a bit of confusion and a sense of loss. Mental anguish added to death was always a bonus.

Though a slight raise of an eyebrow at his little attention diversions. A little chuckle. "Afraid she's up to no good?" He liked instigating that she was indeed not the little good thing she pretended to be.

Hm, what would she need? Drawing and writing had turned into listed in that blank paged tome. As well as numbers had been added to the mix, counting expenses, and other calculations. Then of course there were the random words with question marks written next to them. Her little multicolored head was coming up with all sorts of things. Though she made it a note to contain herself somewhat, should that happiness filtered too exuberantly to Malik and he'd ask questions.

"Ah but know what, how, and how often you have done or dealt with certain types of situations does help. for example, if I were to turn on Fianna and Kieran. Or, if I came across a nuisiance that was bound to some rather important client. But your services are enough for now."

Though a slight shake of his head at the question.

"That's not what I'm curious about. See, Piper hates that I am a slaver by trade. So I challenged her to find a proffesion of buisness that offers the same amount of profit and expandability, and I woudl ply that trade instead. so you can imagine the constant barrage of ideas she puts forth. some are rather clever. and her being elusive hints that she's working on another one."
