Long night last night... lots of students on I hadn't met yet...

***Pulls out a book on the decline of the wizarding society of the Soviet Union.***

Hmm... a little light reading.

***Reaches over for some coffee and a scone.***

*sits down and drinks a cup of strong black coffee*

*places himself in the corner, at the head of a table, facing toward the rest of the hall*

*opens a heavy book on the medieval use of enchanted architecture and begins to patiently take notes whilst absent-mindedly fiddling with his wand in the other hand*

***Walks up to Invictus.***

You know, most people here are wary of you, but in my mind, you've said you're here for academic work, and so is everyone else. So, I'm not going to make any judgments yet.

***Holds out hand.***

Good to make your acquaintance.

*looks up with a hint of a smile*

I had noticed, I hear more than most would wish me to, or assume be able to. It is groudless, of course.

I am merely an academic with a chance to prove himself, and who given such a chance would not wish to prove himself the best by all means necessary?

It is refreshing to meet someone who conducts themselves on the basis of evidence and not on suspicions. It is indicative of a calculating and efficient mind, too rare in these dark times..

*shakes her gently by the hand*

..it is good to have met another similar to myself. We may differ elsewhere, yet I feel less unwelcome for having spoken to you.

I saw you were reading on Medieval architecture enchantments. I myself, am interested in the histories of the magical world. I have written two essays on the Italian Goblin Rebellions during the 1300s... though there is evidence of small revolts previous to that. I wonder what the field of architecture enchantments may have to do with said rebellions.

But I digress... I look forward to speaking with you in the future. As I try remain objective, though true objectivity is humanly impossible, it is refreshing to have a different point of view at Hogwarts, and one which is so well spoken.

Indeed, and thankyou.

*scrutinises the hall for sign of someone who could bring tea*

Hm, there is a lack of house elves here, don't you think? Did I read that unsorted students can fulfil the role also?

confused

Yes, that is correct. I don't think those students are willing to serve the others, and I have never seen (at least I don't think so) a house elf in the great hall at all. Most of us have to get our own food. Sometimes, I feel like raiding the Giggling Pear - that would be the kitchens - to see what they're all up to.

I'm afraid that I must leave for a while to go to work - I should be back tomorrow. It is good speaking to you, Invictus.

A wise suggestion, if there are no house-elves then someone somewhere must be failing in their duty.

Or the Ravenclaw rooms, perhaps?

"The Ravenclaw room is locked. And even if it wasn't, I would never show you where it was anyhow, if that's what you're after for your silly map."
