Xandra was almost finished showering when she heard her sister's voice inside her mind. She smirked to no one as she turned off the water, and stepped out of the shower. Xandra proceeded to get dressed in some of Rogue's clothes, a tight black shirt, cut off at the shoulders with a deeply plunging neckline. She slipped on a pair of black jeans and found a pair of knee high black leather boots with many buckles and intricacies crafted into them.
Xandra took a moment to dry her hair, and she styled it in a messy fashion, and then made her way down to the main bar.
She saw her sister, sitting there without much company, though a few hundred people were in the club moving about. Halfway down the stairs, Xandra stopped and tried to absorb everything. It was good to be out of confinement. She took a seat next to her sister and purred to the bartender, "Mmm, I'll have what she's having." Xandra turned the chair slightly to Kaei as she scanned her eyes. Something wasn't quite right, and she wondered what had happened while she had 'left' the scene for a few days. Through their psychic connection as blood family, she had seen bits and pieces of an event, though timing was misplaced to her...seven days had felt like seven years.
"You look like you've seen better days..." she stated flatly as she shuffled in her chair, and casually looking over to make eye contact. The last time she ahd seen her sister, Kaei, she had bit her, almost draining her to the point of death for disobeying a direct order. Xandra's anger about the mishap had somewhat faded the first day of her treatment. "I'm also sorry about the other day..."

Rogue's finger traced the rim of her glass. "I could say the same for you."
Her eyes followed her finger as she listened to her sister begin an apology. What good was she if she couldn't even control herself. Rogue knew they were linked but when one lost control, normally the other was soon to follow. Maybe it should have been her locked away for seven days. She probably needed some sort of cleansing, anyway.
She lifted her eyes to Xandra. Rogue's eyes glowed as she reached out mentally, strengthening their connection. In a flash, Rogue flooded Xandra's mind with the event, and then showing her where she lost control on the rooftop, and what it took to draw her back out.
"We are walking a line that has become thinner and thinner these days. I expect you feel it, too. I don't know why but in the here and now, we are losing ourselves." Rogue blinked and broke off the overwhelming flood and looked back at her glass. She took a drink.

[Enter from the City]
It was a strange feeling, walking into a club like this. In England, especially in Manchester, they never left anywhere near this many otherkin alive in order for them to gather in places in large numbers like this. America was indeed a strange place. Though most of them tried to hide it, to a keen-eyed hunter like himself most were relatively easy to spot. Still, he intended to bring no trouble with him; that was why he left his bow in the saddle bag this time, though he kept his pistol and trench spike on him and concealed just in case. s long as they were peaceful, he would not have to open fire on anyone. All he wanted to do was drink the night away, and possibly bag himself a loose vampire slag who thought him a mere human to feast on.
"Barkeep," he said as he took a stool, demeanor casual as it ever was. "Bring me the absolute strongest thing you have, bar none. If it can kill a human in a few shots, I want it. In fact, just bring me the bottle." He took out his wallet to pay for said bottle, laying down as much money as was necessary to pay for it. He took the bottle the barkeep offered him, noting that it was Diesel. He poured its contents into the cup he was then offered, filling it nearly to the rim, then began pouring it down his throat without the slightest care in the world. After only a moment or two, the cup was empty. Already he could feel his body's naturally(well, debatably so, anyway) swift healing ability working to dominate the alcohol that fell into his stomach, and Judas had utterly no intention of relenting this night. He immediately poured himself another drink.

The blank expression Meredith wore on her countenance was an inward scowl. She was still in partial shock and processing what the ******** had just happened back in the city with Veroen. The huntress was absolutely enraged that he had the audacity to ******** show his face again and apologize to her only to ******** disappear like it was a circus act all over again. On the same token she was very broken up over the matter. Again she felt grief that she was uncertain as to whether she'd ever see him again or not as well as the fact this time had been even briefer than the last. She was confused as to why he had done what he had done. To sum it all up: she was an absolute mess and had no idea what to make of the stunt Veroen had pulled just moments before she had walked into the bar.
Needless to say, Meredith was in need of a drink. Also needless to say, Las Noches was probably the last bar in New York she would have chosen herself seeing as it had been the place she'd been held captive while kidnapped but she had followed her newest recruit's scent directly to it's doorstep. It didn't take her long to make her way across the facility in order to take a seat beside him. She ordered herself a drink but other than that she said absolutely nothing. Eden was not willing to volunteer to chat about the events that had taken place this evening. That being said, if Judas chose to ask and asked the right questions, she would not hide anything from him. It was simply something she wasn't going to go out of her way to talk about unless he expressed an interest or concern in it. She hadn't missed his parting comments from earlier and as a result she simply took her seat beside him in silence and stared blankly ahead at the wall behind the bar.

Judas took a long gulp from his glass, emptying its contents yet again as the Diesel attacked his organs. He was on his third glass now; he was being relatively patient, and due to his rapid metabolism it was still not even close to enough to get him drunk. A bit of a buzz, probably, and there was a slight tingling sensation on the tips of his fingers, but his sense were still rather well intact. He planned to change that fact as soon as was possible though. He was just filling up another glass when he felt someone sit beside him and order a drink, speaking in a rather familiar voice. "I didn't think I'd see you again so soon tonight," he said to Meredith. He turned his head toward her, and it did not take much overanalyzing to see that she was quite clearly distraught. Something had clearly gone wrong in her time in the alley since he'd left.
He knew a perfect remedy for whatever it was that ailed her. "Barkeep, I'm gonna need a second bottle over here," he said, shelling out the money necessary. He then turned back to the huntress and offered her a reassuring and genuine smile. "Let's get a booth to ourselves, pet. We can talk there." He grabbed the two bottles by their necks in one hand, and his cup in the other, and turned away in his stool, getting up. He walked toward an empty booth that had fewer people surrounding it than the others, expecting the Meredith to follow. He took a seat and guided the girl to sit next to him, so they would not have to speak too loudly if they sat face to face across from each other. "So I'm guessing I changed the channel before the good part came on, love," he said, his voice softer and more sincere than before. He was clearly not the most moral of people, and he was far too playful for his own good a grand majority of the time, but he knew when to get serious. He didn't know Meredith very well, but he greatly respected her, and it was only fair that he be earnest with her in her time of need, if in his own unique ay. "Tell me what happened. And take your time if you need to, but don't tell me nothing happened; I'm far too smart to fall for that. I'm a ********' scientist, remember?"

The huntress hadn't made her presence known at Las Noches to mess around, her sole intent behind making her appearance was in order to achieve forgetting who she was or getting as close as possible before the friggin' place closed down. Right off the bat she chose to order a drink she felt was named very appropriately given the situation: A Slow Death. She didn't waste any time starting off with an ale or beer, she jumped right into the hard s**t. This night had been a ******** disaster and she for one intended to forget it at least temporarily. Perhaps it wasn't a good way of coping but she hardly cared at the moment, she just wanted the pain and the anger and everything else to go away.
By the time Judas acknowledged her presence, Meredith had already downed the contents of the glass she'd ordered in practically one gulp. "Can't say I thought," Meredith said calmly, contrary to how she truly felt at the moment, "I would be joining you this fast etiher. Guess now you get to know why I have ******** trust issues." She shrugged nonchalantly and set the glass down on the counter, having squeezed it hard enough to crack the glass but not enough to shatter it. The huntress was hasty to order another drink, clearly prepared to be spending her evening here until the bar closed.
Judas being on the same wavelength with her in terms of how she was going to remedy her situation was almost enough to crack a small smile into her features. However, she remained silent and apathetic despite Judas understanding what the situation called for and their end goal for the night. She temporarily dawned a partially fake smile, deciding to address his initial comment she'd already addressed again from a more upbeat angle. "You didn't honestly think I was going to let you celebrate without me, did you?"
It did not, however, take long for her to revert to the somber soul she'd been when she walked through the doors of the bar. As he suggested getting a booth to themselves, she nodded in compliance as she truly had no preference where they sat. The place was busy and loud enough they would notice anyone attempting to overhear what they were saying. Not that the content of what she had to say was particularly important to the affairs of any vampire aside from the one she'd just finished dealing with. Regardless, she followed silently behind Judas as he chose a new spot in the bar to occupy, one that was clearly more private and secluded likely in order to ask her about what had happened.
"No," Meredith assured with a roll of her eyes when recalling the memory, "you left at the perfect time. The ending was absolutely atrocious. You would have wanted the time you'd wasted back. If you were as upset and bored with the beginning as you were, you definitely would have felt the ending was a complete and total cop out. Then again, you might have found some mild humour in how pathetic it was, who knows?" She raised the second glass she'd ordered to her lips, again downing the concoction she'd ordered within a manner of seconds only to again place the glass on the table. This time she'd refrained from squeezing too hard and the glass remained unblemished.
Upon practically being asked to document her life for the few minutes he'd left, she immediately reached for the second bottle he'd ordered. She assumed it had been for her, if it hadn't, she would be getting him back for it very soon. It wasn't like she was going anywhere fast, not until she drowned this feeling she felt within her. She took a very generous swig of the liquor before finally deciding to address Judas' question. "No s**t, Sherlock. More than nothing happened, obviously. In all honesty, though, there's not much to say other than he chose to ******** ditch out again." She paused for a moment to finish off the drink Judas had ordered for her and scoped out a waitress in order to get another two of the original drink she'd ordered and another two of what Judas had ordered.
Just when it probably seemed like she was prepared to drop the topic, she began going into slightly more detail on the situation she'd had prior to this. "I don't know how much back story you picked up from when I was yelling at ******** Oz Scarecrow's second cousin, but he's disappeared on me multiple times now without even saying a single ******** word to me. When I was yelling at him I was proceeding to explain why it was that I was mad and why it was justified. And somehow he came to the logical conclusion that after becoming practically a stranger that kissing and hugging me was going to make me feel better. And since I wasn't ready for that s**t he apparently decided it was somehow logical and not detrimental to his well being to ******** disappear AGAIN. Like ... how ******** retarded can you be? I explained why I was ******** mad and he must be deaf or something because he blatantly ignored every single thing I ******** said and ******** off yet again. Seriously. What the actual ********>

"I wouldn't call them issues if there's wisdom and experience behind them, love," he said without skipping a beat. Trust came difficult to those who had been betrayed before. He knew a little bit of what that was like, but then any traitors that ever crossed him usually ended up with a bullet directly between the eyes. While superficially, he was quite the open book, by no means was he very trusting himself. People, be they mundane or supernatural, were assholes in general. Cockier vampires liked to boast and gloat all about how much they they killed and how much damage they could do to humans, but the sad fact was that no amount vampires collectively have ever done as much damage as the normal humans have done to each other. Since the days of Cain and Able, humans have been slaughtering each other in droves second by second, and no creature of the night could ever match that amount of blood on their hands. This continued on into the humans' turn into vampires and lycans and whatever other rubbish existed in the world, and sometimes the inherent a*****e within even intensified.
Admittedly, such were his initial thoughts on the vampire named Veroen, just from initial first impressions, that he was just a self-involved a*****e. So of course, it was utterly no surprise when Meredith essentially confirmed that not all went well after he'd left the couple to their devices. Such was life. "I'm sorry, pet," he said to the woman after she took his television metaphor a little further than he expected her to. He took a large gulp, straight from his bottle this time, as she continued. There was not much else he could say on such matters. Sure, he'd had relationship troubles before, though admittedly many of them came from his end of said relationships. He was simply not a very reliable person when it came to such things, and he was not the best at dealing with relationship issues as a result. There was a very good reason every single relationship he'd tried had ended in failure, and every single one of them had one thing in common. But he never let that cripple him, never let that be his dominant thought, and he never dwelt on it, because lives depended on his being as alert as possible at all times, and so such troubles had to be buried. But it would be a surprise to anyone that knew him to know that he even had such thoughts, given how generally carefree he was about almost everything.
She took the bottle that he'd bought for her, and he was visibly impressed as she swallowed a rather large portion of the bottle in a seconds flat. She went on to explain that the vampire ditched on her yet again. Apparently the white-haired ponce was quite the drama queen. She went on to ramble some more about her history with the man, and his hypothesis of the man being a drama queen seemed to ring rather true. Apparently the man had a habit of disappearing and returning just as Meredith had moved on. Even he of all people knew that was a generally d**k thing to do. "Some men are cowards, love. It's unfortunate to hear, but damn true." He took another long gulp out of his bottle. He flagged a waitress walking by, asking her to bring them at least two more bottles of diesel. They were soon to run out, and neither of them were anywhere near the point of drunkenness they'd desired, her to numb herself from the pain she felt, and him simply for the sake of drinking; he was British, he did not need a reason to drink.
"I'm sorry for the s**t you've gone through, pet," he said, again his voice nothing but sincerity in the wake of all her troubles. "And I supposed I'm not technically a friend to you yet, but I'm going to pretend for the sake of argument that we've known each other long enough to consider each other such and talk to you exactly the way I would talk to you if I was your mate." He paused long enough for another long swig before continuing. <******** him. ******** that stupid little knob jockey wanker if he doesn't get it. He just isn't worth it if all he does is hurt you like this, and you need to exorcise him from your life." The waitress came back with their new drinks, and Judas quickly finished off his first bottle. While he certainly was not completely drunk, he started to feel more of a tingle in his fingertips, as well as the slight heady sensation that came just before a buzz. "Hell, we're hunters, we could probably go hunt him and take him out permanently if we want." Naturally, he was only joking, but he hoped it would at least bring a smile to her face. "But seriously, you may not know me well yet, but I'm not going anywhere; and if you ever need a drink or a chat, or both, I'm always here. Just think of me as English Dr. Phil, except way more qualified."

"This is," Meredith uttered with a frustrated sigh, "wisdom and experience I already had and I still ignored it. Loving someone can bring you absolution or damnation and so far I've only ever gotten the latter out of that piece of s**t emotion. I think I need to tune up my heart and fix it because that s**t's definitely broken as all ********. Not just in the typical sense it's used but the sense that it makes exceptions for a** holes against my brain's better judgment. Don't know about you but that seems pretty damned faulty to me." She was perfectly aware she was ranting to a stranger she'd just met but in all honesty she didn't give a s**t at this point. She needed an outlet and bitching was better than a few alternatives that were running through her mind at the moment.
"Oh," Meredith said as she took yet another generous gulp of Deisel, "you're not even half as sorry as I am. What a waste of my ******** life. I could have been ... I dunno, not getting almost killed on a semi-regular basis because of him? Could have focused on s**t that was actually important since he kind of decided to let me know last minute that he didn't give two shits about me and I should have returned the sentiment." If he happened to walk into the bar at this particular moment in time she would have absolutely no hesitation in dumping her current stockpile of liquor all over him and lighting a match to see just how fast a vampire could go up in flames. Hell, her and Judas could even make bets on how fast it would be and whoever lost would have to eat the pile of ashes. If the loser managed to survive then they could just drown out the memory with more liquor and forget it had ever happened.
Upon hearing Judas' next statement, the woman choked on the drink she was guzzling and coughed for a few moments. Once recovered, her snickers and laughter replaced the cough, along with heavier breathing due to the lack of oxygen from how hard her laughing fit was. Even a few tears managed to reach her eyes from the sheer amusement her response to his statement brought her. "Some men? More like most men. Men are ******** pussies. I can tell you that because most of them I could beat the s**t out of even before I became furry. Most of them are all talk and no substance. Got into plenty of fights in highschool because of a** holes who talked s**t, never lost a single one."
"If I really cared at this point if you were my friend or not, I wouldn't be babbling to you like a ******** idiot at a bar. It really doesn't matter if you are or aren't, getting to b***h about it to someone still makes me feel better. Hell, I would probably be one of those crazy bitches that just approaches some random dude at the bar to talk about my life problems only to have the b*****d not give a s**t and walk away." She herself continued to drink as Judas continued with his 'advice' on the matter, finishing her second bottle of Diesel and downing another one of her own drinks by the time he was finished speaking to her. "No, no, no," she said with a laugh though she'd understood what he'd meant by '******** him', "that's the opposite of what I'm supposed to do, you ditz. On the note of ******** vampires ... I've always wondered ... does that count as necrophilia? Imean ... they've technically died but they're undead because they've come back from the dead but they're still not technically alive ... Mind ******** much?"
Upon Judas' suggestion of hunting Vereon down, her countenance did light up slightly at the thought. Not of hunting Veroen in particular but just at the thought of going out and hunting something. She was kind of itching for a fight at the moment and there was no better way to go about one than by killing two birds with one stone and finding someone out there up to no good. "Based on technicalities, we totally could have killed him. He had fresh blood on him and the fact it was so potent in the air meant he completely drained something, that's for ******** sure. He's completely different now. The Veroen I used to know never would have had that much utter disregard for life despite the fact he was undead. He respected that I am a hunter and he even saved me once ... I mean ... technically it was his fault I almost died to begin with but he righted his wrong." She was thinking back to a time when she'd still been human and when Veroen had taken too long to feed and had accidentally gone into a frenzy over her because she'd cut her lip. He'd managed to stop, to prevent himself from killing her. That was the old Veroen she remembered.
Eden raised an eyebrow at the man's last statement, choosing to challenge him on it based on prior facts he'd stated about himself. "English Dr. Phil? I thought you were a scientist, not a psych-whatever the ******** he thinks he is. Pretty sure psychopath is the most accurate description for Dr. Phil. Crazy, looney, full of s**t, you know, one of those adjectives, take your pick." She paused for a moment before going on, not about Dr. Phil but about her former train of thought. "We should totally go hunting later, though. That was an amazing idea. Hunting s**t always makes me feel better when I feel like a sack of s**t."

Rogue lifted her glass to her lips draining the last of a fumé blanc wine.
She had been in and out of the city on business from Slovenia for several months now. She spent her days looking for something to try and even out her mind and to find peace, but the Sanguinarian beast lurked continually beneath the surface. She had kept to herself mostly but searched for something...anything to quell the unrest within. She rationed herself from drinking from humans as hunters and the humans encroached upon a full discovery of their species and the lycans alike.
Unrest continued to grow, and it was then that she had received a call from contacts lodged in the Alps within the borders of Slovenia. A curious unknown element was found with properties that needed further scientific exploration.
Rogue had moved funds and privately bought out the mine, taking small quantities of the element they found. It could be the very thing they searched for.
She set the glass down and the bartender poured another. All she wanted was blood, but she was so tired of fighting her blood rage. "Red, this time, Jack." The bartender poured a mixed red wine with blood intermingled in its contents. Her eyes flashed a bright emerald, and she closed them quickly taking a moment to quiet her mind, and opened them to find the glass full. She lit a cigarette and took a drink, brooding over her thoughts.

With a casual stride he made his way into the club. He wore a much different outfit than the rugged attire he wore the last time he was here, as this time he was not anticipating battle of any kind. This time, his presence was nothing more or less than diplomatic, and all he wanted was to have some time to mingle with others, perhaps find himself a lick, or some other means to pass the time. He wore a sharp black suit, of the rather expensive variety, and his hair was neatly combed. Atop his nose sat a thin pair of wire frame shades that mostly covered his eyes.
It was all very refined, and very much the way Katarina preferred he dressed.
He walked over to the bar with that same confident strut he always found himself in possession of. He noticed at least one familiar face there, seeing Rogue. He remembered she'd nearly lost her mind on the rooftops, but that Katarina explicitly trust her, which meant that he explicitly trusted her. Beast or not, everyone had their bad nights, and Lucien was certainly no stranger to those. He took a chance and took a seat next to her. "Chartreuse, on the rocks," he said simply to the bartender. While he preferred single malt scotch, Chartreuse was his preferred drink when he planned on socializing.
"You look thirsty," he said, referring to both her demeanor and the blood he could smell in her drink. When he spoke, it was not with his typical southern patois that he was so known for; one would not even be able to tell he was from Texas unless they had prior knowledge. His tone was friendly and confident, and not at all like the demeanor he normally displayed when dealing with vampiric officials. "I heard you like to drink lycan blood. Tastes quite fine, doesn't it? Almost like a perfectly aged wine."
He produced his own cigarette, lighting it and taking a drag. "just out of curiosity, how do you feel about drinking another vampire's blood?" The question was not meant to imply a threat of any kind. It was genuine, and he was curious to know how one of the leaders of the local coven might feel about such a thing.

Rogue took a long drag on her cigarette as the familiar face sat next to her in a calm and friendly demeanor. She had wondered at Katarina's whereabouts the last several weeks.
"Quite," she spoke softly in response to his comment on her thirst. She smirked. "And lycan blood is a delicacy...though, not something we like to broadcast during any form of treaty between elders and alphas. I'm sure if the lycans knew of my personal tastes, they'd definitely frown upon it."
"Another vampire's blood is a different matter I think. It doesn't completely give us what we need to sustain us, though, it would do in a pinch. Under most circumstances it should be of mutual consent...blood memories are precious things...but we also use them when things go to trial in our own system of order."
She paused as if caught in a memory. She took a long drag on her cigarette and then took a drink. "Of course, all consent aside, I consider it a rather intimate affair to drink another vampire's blood," Her eyes looked up slowly and were somewhat coy.
Intimacy was a rare thing amidst their kind and their continued games for power.

"Fair enough," he said with a smirk as Rogue mentioned that it would not be wise to broadcast that the two of them had a taste for blood of the lycanthropic variety. "Not that it wouldn't be expect of us, of course. Try as we may to get past our worse natures, it is simply the way of the world that the two most ferocious predators will always be natural rivals. It is only fitting that such rivals gather a taste for each other's blood in the end. I have no doubt whatsoever that lycans feel the same taste when they rend the weaker among us limb from limb"
Rogue went on to explain her thoughts on the matters of vampire cannibalism, as well as the way the higher courts deal with such things. It was always interesting to see the way various different regional vampiric societies dealt with different issues regarding the Blood. "Interesting that you see it that way, Miss Rogue. I would be forced to agree, excluding certain circumstances of course." He took a modest sip of his Chartreuse before turning back toward the woman.
"Have you ever heard of a Vinculum?" he asked, pausing for a moment before continuing. "I first heard the word in France during the 90s, from a rather distraught vampire. He explained to me that it is when a vampire drinks the willingly given blood of a specific vampire too many times, and it creates a blood bond between the two. The one who drinks becomes a loving and devoted thrall. It sounds both romantic and utterly horrifying if you ask me, but of course I have never put much stock in things I haven't witnessed with my own eyes. Not that I'm not open-minded, mind you, but I am naturally a skeptic."
He took another sip of his drink, this time giving himself a much more generous helping of the substance before setting glass down. "if you ask me, though, I would say vampire blood, at least when willingly given, is the sweetest blood there is. Perhaps not as enriching as that of humans, but all the same that much sweeter. There is something about it that gives an ecstasy that can only be matched by few other things just as intimate." He knew full well about the way vampires seemed to struggle for power constantly and kept themselves distant as a result. Lucien felt there was very little need for that. Lucien only kept himself distant simply as a result of his nomadic nature.
He was utterly indifferent toward power as a goal, unlike most of his kind, and simply wanted the freedom to do as he pleased. As contradictory as it sounded, having power seemed too him, as it not only gave you responsibility, but also made you a target for all other vampires who existed. Lucien was no coward, but the last thing he needed was such trouble in his unlife. In his mind, it was simply too much work for too little reward. "Katarina once said to me before that who you prefer to drink from the most reflects on who you are as a vampire. What then, Miss Rogue, do you think it says about me that my favorite blood comes from others of my own kind?"

"I do believe I've heard of such a thing...but...only in rumor. I know blood bonds can be formed, and I've only really seen it happen to humans." Rogue took a drag on her cigarette.
"Memories can be vividly shared by the partaking of another's blood, vampire or not, and drinking from a vampire older than yourself does seem to change some of the younger vampire's strength and ability...though many young vampires never get the chance to interact with ancients, and I've rarely seen a younger vampire able to take from an elder by sheer force. Many grow tired of the world and sleep for centuries, or simply avoid contact altogether, succumbing completely to the void."
She pointed to her glass, and the bartender refilled. "By sheer taste alone, I'd venture to think you had quite good taste in enjoying the blood from a fellow vampire...though the means of acquiring it..." She took a drag and looked him in the eyes, her own glowing emerald green in the establishment. "I'd hate to hear of an unwilling patron for the sake of your taste." She smirked and looked at her glass, picking it up delicately and taking a sip of the contents. "We all have secrets better left unsaid."

Lucien took a sip of his own drink as Rogue explained what she knew of the Vinculum and blood bonds in general.. He'd never actually seen one in person, but he'd certainly heard stories. He was horrified by the idea of being one's willing slave for all eternity, or until one of them died. He had enough problems with most authority as it was. He smirked as he heard the woman's explanation of how memories were shared along with blood, and the way an older vampire's strength could be transferred to a younger one through such an act. ”Believe me, I'm intimately aware of the effects of drinking from much older veins.” It was not something he'd done often, but Kat had allowed him to drink from her veins, and she was several times older than he was, and occasionally when the two would clash with other vampires(it happened more often than one would think) he would often take their blood after killing them, assuming of course they were not poisoned with UV fluids or the like.
She addressed his apparent taste for the blood of his own kind, questioning whether he would attack other vampires to take their blood unwillingly, clearly looking out for those who she had authority over. He unflinchingly met her gaze, keeping his eyes connected with hers even as he took a drag of his cigarette. He turned his head enough to blow the smoke away, but still be able to keep his eyes on hers. ”Do not worry your pretty little head. Your vampires are safe so long as I remain unmolested by them. If they attack me unprovoked, of course... I cannot insure their safe return.” He took another sip of his Chartreuse, handing the cup to the bartender for a refill. ”But you have no cause for alarm as far as I am concerned. I am quite capable of controlling my thirst. You, on the other hand, appear as if you're about to snap and utterly devour one of the human patrons. Would you like me to tap a vein before you create a mess?” He offered his arm, sliding up one of his sleeves. It was a gesture of friendly teasing, but he was more than willing to offer his blood to the woman if she truly needed it.
”Indeed we do have secrets better left unsaid. But perhaps I am willing to offer some of those to the only elder of this city that I actually respect, the only one I am willing to deliberately show my true colors to.” He'd been less than impressed with the other so-called elders, but this one commanded Kat's respect, and so she had his. Moreover, he'd actually seen some sense of leadership within her in the field, which was far more than could be said for the others. Lucien often played the part of one far less educated and more of a brute than he really was, the Cowboy. While he was still very much the Sheriff he'd grown to be in his human life, one had to be truly ignorant to not grow with the amount of traveling and learning he'd done at Kat's expense, and he was far from ignorant. Apathetic as far as vampire politics, sure, but never ignorant. Very few besides Kat saw the real him. Things were simply easier when others thought you were stupider than you really were.
”So would it be overstepping my bounds to ask just what is the state of the leadership here? If I were going by what I've heard on the streets, it almost seems to be nonexistent. But I see you right here.”

Sing This Corrosion To Me

Judas stayed mostly quiet as the woman beside him spoke at great length. Being himself, he obviously had things he could certainly say, but did not. Sometimes it was best just to listen, and so that was what he did. The huntress went on about her experiences both before she became a werewolf, as well as with her previous lover... Verily? Versace? Verizon? Something along those lines. He was terrible with names as it was, especially when they belonged to people that had little to no impact on him whatsoever. Though while he had absolute apathy for the vampire, clearly that was not the case for the woman beside him drowning her sorrows in a bottle of Diesel. Occasionally he would offer a sardonic offhand remark, mostly for levity's sake than anything. ”I try not to think about it,” he said when she posed the question of whether or not sex with a vampire would count as necrophilia. ”Nor whether or not sex with werewolves counts as bestiality.” He shrugged and took a sip from his bottle. In either case, it was one of those types of romances that was apparently generally deemed acceptable amongst most, especially given the rise of popularity of such topics amongst the preteen demographic in recent years.
If it was good enough for preteen girls it was good enough for him.
The exact moment he had that thought he realized that logic was absolutely terrible. Either way, he would continue to have one night stands with vampires and werewolves as long as he could help it.
She explained that that Veroen(it was nice of her to remind him the sodding vampire's name) was not the one she'd known and fallen in love with, that he acted far too different. He could understand the feeling. Sometimes, very rarely, people actually changed quite dramatically. He called it the Jesus effect; one day a bloke is having fun, drinking till he pisses himself, and having strange sex with multiple women, and the next he was an absolute nightmare praying at every occasion and insisting that he was here to spread the message of Christ, among other such rubbish. He hated when that happened. But then it could very easily have been the case that the injudicious vampire merely suppressed his usual tendencies for the sake of love. That was always the worst and rarely lasted, especially amongst beings who lived for hundreds of years, and they would always change back to the a*****e they once were immediately, sometimes even worse. It was like an addict that had been clean for years only to completely binge themselves to death suddenly. ”Hey, if you wanna go back and put a sodding bullet in his head, I'm up for it, pet.”
”I'm a scientist, but I'm also a human,” he said with a shrug. ”I can listen just as well as I can talk, although you'll have to forgive me if I ask you to speak slowly; that funny accent you yanks speak in can get confusing sometimes.” He took a long sip from his bottle before setting it down. He shrugged when she suggested they actually go out to hunt later on. ”Whatever you want, love.” His gun was always ready to put holes in the dark things that crept up in the night.
It was not long before he emptied his bottle and asked for another, his unnatural healing abilities making it rather difficult to achieve a consistent drunken state. ”I ******** hate love. Worst kind of beastie, it is. Chews you up, spits you out, and doesn't even have the common decency to put a bloody bullet in your brain for your troubles,” he said suddenly, going off on his own tangent. He figured it was only fair. The woman bore her feelings and history to him so he should probably do the same. ”I told you earlier that I left England ecause I wanted a change of scenery. I lied.” He took a long gulp as soon as he got another bottle. ”You see, in England, things are a bit different. It's primarily a vampire country; lycans have been nearly wiped off the map by both the vampires and our own organization. The Hunters there are a bit more militant, and less... let's say, liberal. We don't have vampires or lycan hunters, and we don't make treaties with them either. Over there the Hunter motto is 'Till no abomination is left standing.' That's what your folk are to them, abominations, and the only right they have is to die.”
”Vampires rule in a very different way as well. While there is a council, they only act as advisers to the Prince who rules over them. The Prince had a daughter.” He stopped only to have a long gulp of his Diesel before continuing. ”Because of my talents, I was chosen for a deep cover operation. I was chosen to infiltrate the vampire hierarchy and cut the head off the dragon, both the Prince, and if I could, the Council as well. You see, the vampires of England have a little tradition when it comes to Hunters. It's not enough to kill us; if they could help it, they always bring us in alive. They want to keep us around, as Licks, to embarrass us and make a bloody statement. We're given as gifts to the Prince or one of the Council members. I was to be captured, given as a gift to the Prince, make myself a slave and use that position to kill the Prince and deal a heavy blow to the organization, as well as steal any intel I could as to the location of any important vampires in England we could exterminate. With my powers I could easily escape and resist becoming a thrall. Only the plan got a little complicated when my captors gave me to his daughter, Elizabeth, instead. I had to slow it down a bit and be a bit more careful.”
He sighed and once again took another long gulp. ”Elizabeth was something else. She was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen in my life. I don't even know how it happened, either. Two months into my slavery, we ended up spending the night in each others' arms, and things just escalated from there. I don't know how she never knew about my mission; she drank enough blood from me to fill an aquarium. Maybe she always knew and simply covered for me. Maybe she hoped my love for her would keep her from fulfilling my mission. For a while that was actually right. I purposely let the mission go on for far longer than I was supposed to. I had more than enough opportunity to kill the Prince and be done with it, but I could not lose Elizabeth. I loved her, needed her. After two years, the Hunters decided decided my time was up, and unless I killed the Prince that very day, they would lead a full scale assault on the compound and burn it to the damn ground. I needed to end it there. If I didn't do it, I'd be branded a traitor and an execution order would be placed on me, and they would kill Elizabeth as well. I could not let her die. I decided I'd kill the Prince and his advisers, escape with Elizabeth, and escape with Elizabeth before they could burn down the fangers' houses.”
”So I did it. I started by killing the Council members while they slept during the day, as well as gathering and preparing my intel. By the time I got to the Prince, it was night. He let me into his room when I feigned that I was sent by Elizabeth from some task. He never even suspected there was a gun in my jacket, or considered the possibility; he knew how I felt about Elizabeth, knew I would never do anything to hurt her. So I put two bullets in him as he turned his back to me, one directly in his heart and another in his brain. What I did not know was that Elizabeth was walking down the hall behind me and saw me pull the trigger; suppressors mean ******** all when you see the ******** deed happen before your eyes. She gave me no time to explain, and immediately tried to kill me. Were she anyone else, I'd have defended myself; but I could never kill her. So I got out of there before she could kill me. She wasted no time in taking the throne for herself either. Her first act: declaring a blood hunt on me, the very first human blood hunt in history. The last I ever saw of her was the hurt in her eyes.”
”I went back to the Hunters for protection, but no dice there either. Somehow they found out about my affair with Elizabeth and decided I was too tainted to keep living. Overzealous ******** went ahead and ordered that execution anyway; ******** dicks. So I skipped town. I could take the Hunters, certainly, but I couldn't kill them; assholes that they were, they were still necessary. Humans depended on them being around. And while I could cap any vampires from here to the Isles, I could never kill Elizabeth. I just don't have it in me. So my only option was to leave.” He grabbed the bottle again, this time not stopping his gulping until the bottle was empty. ”Guess that makes me officially a Yank, then, ducking out of England because of ethical and ideological dilemmas to a land that's not actually my own. At what point do we start dumping tea into the sea? That sounds like fun. I bloody hate tea.”
