Fish tried soloing him in a four person game and almost met an untimely end.
He tricked me into thinking that he killed the Smith single handedly when he said "I just ran around confused and somehow ended up soloing a boss". Then he ran into the actual Smith and needed backup.
That's where Hoppalong came in.

Him and the monster horde all leveled up because there were a bunch of you on. I blame that mostly.
And the fact that I was expecting him to be as easy as the other two bosses I'd soloed, or at least not to have quite as much of a horde tailing him.
