Pocket Gal I put a couple points in the bow skill, wish I hadn't. I planned on just going spear when I level up a bit. Well, you aren't very far in the game at all. You can always redo it. Or, just suck up the loss and go without. OR, you can become a bow amazon instead? :3 My very first D2 character was a bow amazon. My two key skills were Ice Arrow and Immolation Arrow. I would freeze guys in place, then BURNINATE them! biggrin But yeah, if you're not going to use a bow, those skill points are worthless now sweatdrop

I'm all for that plan, and it also means my thus far Strength heavy stat loading would have been about right.
Only thing is, what will somebody else do if they play a Pally too? If buffs don't stack, they'd have to be using a non-Fanatacism paladin. Which means if Dessi wants to switch back to his paladin when we're all level 20, one of us needs to pick an alternate aura.

Psychofish I'm all for that plan, and it also means my thus far Strength heavy stat loading would have been about right. Only thing is, what will somebody else do if they play a Pally too? If buffs don't stack, they'd have to be using a non-Fanatacism paladin. Which means if Dessi wants to switch back to his paladin when we're all level 20, one of us needs to pick an alternate aura. Similar auras basically increase the radius. Different auras stack. If you want to be able to be still useful when dealing with other Fanaticism paladins, you should probably pick a different aura. Concentration, if you want to tank how much damage a party can do (say, level 10 Fanaticism and level 20 Concentration = +503% damage by party members). OR you could try a defensive aura. Defensive auras are, IMHO, the auras you can diversify in, but only a few (using the mouse wheel to rotate). Prayer to heal the entire party is always useful (but Prayer is the only aura that saps mana, so be warned about that; it might not go well with Zeal unless you put points to Energy). I personally don't like paladins, and usually solo, but one Paladin I keep trying to play, is going for Holy Shock + Zeal, for insane amounts of lightning melee damage. Use the charts here, see what combat abilities will work well with various auras to fill the niche you desire smile ((Another viable option is Vengeance (adds fire, lightning, and cold elemental damage) + Conviction (reduces resistances to elemental damage). 3nodding ))

Well I'm seeing something about using conviction to debuff all enemies and then using the move that does all elements and physical damage for powerful hits.
I figure if Dessi goes Zeal and Fanatacism I'll do that and we'll just hang out and pump each other. Plus this aura ought to make your nuker more effective.

Yeah, I checked the Paladin I'm trying to gimp along with. He currently is at level 14 (single player), has the following skills: Res Fire 1, Res Cold 1, Res Lit 1, Zeal 3, Might 1, Holy Fire 1, Sacrifice 1, 5 banked skill points.
When he's high enough to get both Holy Lightning and Zeal, I'll put one point in each until I'm out, then probably just go Holy Lightning for a lot of levels.
-------------------------
A few notes for the new players: Don't pick up everything. White items = mundane = worthless, blue = magical, yellow = rare (like, magical squared), gold = unique (rare cubed), green = set item (like blues, but as you get more set items, they get much cooler, especially if they are designed for your class specifically), gray = either ethereal items (crap, because you cannot repair them and they will eventually fade on you, and are worthless) or socketable (where you put gems and runes).
Socketables shouldn't be a concern for you, until much later in the game when you are capable of getting perfect gems. In Act II, you get an item that you can upgrade three lesser gems into one bigger one (and also, 3 lesser purple potions for a bigger one), so save them in your stash. Runes too.
What I generally pick up is as follows: Act I - Everything blue and above, sell anything not worth it. Act II+ - Blue+ Armor, Yellow+ weapons (usually, only if they are the type of weapons my character uses)
Items also worth a lot of gold= throwables, and metal armor. Also, rings and amulets sell for a crapload. On top of that, any Staves, Wands, Sceptors with "+X to " sell for a lot of gold.
You don't have to pick up everything, and a lot of people get by on a lot less than that. What I do is fill up my stash with gold until it reaches its capacity (which increases every 10 levels), then go Gamble. Gambling is where you buy an unidentified magic item, and it will have random stats. Usually they are blue, but sometimes you can get Rares or Uniques, but not very often. Whenever you go to a gamble shop (Gheed in Act I, Elzix in Act II, Alkor in Act III, and I forget the rest), you can always close the shop window and re-Gamble, and there will be a completely new spread of unidentified items.
You don't have to follow this advice, but maybe it will save you guys the trouble of doing what I used to do and pick up EVERYTHING that was shiney sweatdrop

Ebag The II I need to buy this s**t if everyone is going to play it.
How much is the battle chest? Your best bet would be ebay, actually. The Battle Chest has I think WC3, D2, and SC. If you only want Diablo 2, then the above link will be more helpful smile

'ooray for spending money on Levi's flavor-of-the-two-weeks-to-a-month-at-most!
Seriously, no more joining in on fads when it costs me money and is over by the time I get around to installing anymore. Look me up next time you all freak out over something more... free.
