Terryn smiled. "I doubt that greatly. He was almost in tears this morning because he ws carting me off to spend more time with that awful DuBois boy." She shrugged. "He wishes the best, I am sure, but his intentions are sometimes misled." She looked out the window and saw her father speaking with the horseman out front of the manor.

Marcus almost jumped off the horse in his eagerness to rectify the situation. He swung open the door and looked eagerly at Terryn. "Tell him," he urged, practically yanking Terryn out of the coach.

Terryn's arm was nearly popped from its socket as she was pulled from the carriage. "Alright, alright." She approached her father, holding on to Marcus's hand tightly. "Father?"
The earl turned around, not expecting Terryn back so soon, and nearly jumped when he saw Marcus and the duchess. "What is this all about? Terryn, why are you not with Andrew?"
"Father there has been a misunderstanding." She looked to Marcus and then back to the earl. "Marcus and I have never...been...together. I am not carrying his child, or any child for that matter."
"You...you are not? But I..." The earl looked to the duchess, very confused. "Everyone, come in, I need to go sit down I think."

The Duchess, who Marcus had forgotten entirely, stepped down from the carriage best shhe could, and hurried inside after Marcus and Terryn.

As they entered the sitting room, Terryn took a seat on the couch, pulling Marcus down beside her. She looked a bit nervous, even though at least she was no longer wondering why she and Marcus were being pulled apart so forcefully.

Marcus looked at Terryn curiously, wondering why she was so nervous. They didn't have any problems at the moment. They'd fixed their only problem. Right?

The earl looked to the two and then the duchess before sighing. "Alright then, let us hear the whole story. Apparently there has been amiscommunication of some sort."

Marcus shifted. "Well, sir, there's not much to tell. Terryn and I...haven't done anything wrong, and she's not with child. That's all, really."

"Yes, yes, that much I know now. However..." He looked at the two nalytically, rubbing his chin. "One must wonder why ou said certain things that could be misconstrued. You had been speaking of plans..."

"..." Marcus swallowed. "...We..." Here, he looked to Terryn for help, realizing that sooner or later, they would have to confess. But he would rather it be later than sooner.

Terryn shared his helpless glance, her voice getting caught in her throat momentarily. "Well, by planning...we had meant that...that we had not...not planned to...spend the night together?"

Marcus nodded so fervently that the Duchess raised an eyebrow. "Yes. We hadn't meant to spend the night together, and Terryn was a little upset. That's all that was meant by plans."

"Really now?" The earl cleared his throat and looked at the duchess, shrugging. "Well...I suppose it would make sense. After all it is not as though they have anything to hide." He gave them a sly look for a moment, one that parents always seemed to have for some reason.

The Duchess smiled, but it was a shrewd smile. "Of course not. They're just so innocent, after all."
Marcus looked sideways at Terryn. What exactly was going on?

Terryn blinked a few times, trying her best not to start shaking. She held Marcus's hand tighter and cleared her throat. "Yes, well, if that is all, Marcus and I would like to go out in the garden and...catch up. If, if you two do not mind."
The earl nodded. "Of course...you two have fun. We shall be in here, speaking."
