"What?!" Mokuba hurriedly turned to look out Shizuka's window, paling when he saw their neighboring copter. "s**t!" he turned to the pilot, "Is there anything we can do about that?!" but as soon as the words had left his mouth, their brothers' helicopter had finished its moment of chaos and returned to normal.

Jounouchi remained tensely laying against Kaiba as the helicopter finally relaxed, not even daring to open his eyes, fearing that moving just the slightest would somehow cause it to all start again.

Shizuka let out a heavy gush of air, relieved that at least the situation had taken care of itself almost moments after it came to her attention. Despite Mokuba's frantic plea to the staff she knew there wasn't much they could do to help the other helicopter if it went down. At least nothing to stop it from crashing. She wouldn't count on either her brother or Kaiba to be so lucky a second time around.

Seto felt the helicopter calm, the cabin lighting returning to normal. It still took him several moments longer for his breathing to regulate and his muscles to unclench. He was hyper aware of the fact that Jounouchi was seated in his lap, tightly clenching himself to Seto's chest. He loosened his own hold around Jounouchi but neither shoved him off nor made any effort to achieve eye contact.

Feeling Kaiba's hold relax was enough to break the spell for Jounouchi, at least the one telling him he couldn't move at all. He realized it was finally okay, the helicopter was normal and fine again and they were still in the air. He let himself relax with one big breath of a relieved sigh, no longer tensely pressed against Kaiba, but instead melting into the other's form, really not giving enough of a damn at the moment to pull away, or even think about the awkwardness of their current situation.

Jounouchi wasn't clutching him quite so tightly anymore, but if possible the embrace had become even more intimate. He found the feeling pleasant, in a way that Seto wasn't ready to admit to himself yet. The helicopter crew, having not suffered supernatural assault after supernatural assault over the past several days, had already resumed normal activity. They were however a bit distracted by the unusual spectacle that the two young men cuddling in the corner were creating. As comfortable as Seto was, not that he'd confess to that even on his deathbed, he felt an overwhelming need to disentangle himself from this situation while in public view. Trying to be gentle about it he looked down at Jounouchi and said, "see, I told you we wouldn't crash twice."
((Sorry I might be a bit delayed in posting for awhile. Try to get in here every few days at least, but have less than 2 weeks before I head back to England and I'm finding I have a billion things to do. My flight is August 23rd, so hopefully that goes well, I'm always nervous about things going wrong with flights. Flying will take me offline for a couple of days unless Munich has free wi-fi, I do have a 5 hour layover. After that exhaustion/jet lag will have me a bit poof. So if I vanish for awhile after the 23rd I do apologize, shall come back after I'm more settled/less homeless. razz ))

"We still had another scare though..." Jounouchi murmured stubbornly, letting himself slide off of Kaiba and back into his own seat without so much as a thought on how embarrassing that must have been for both of them. He practically collapsed into his chair once he was in it, groaning to himself, "No, seriously, there is no way that was coincidence. The thing is messing with us at this point; trying to scare of more." his eyes had been closed as he spoke, but he finally opened them now, noticing the not-so-discreet stares of those crew members not currently preoccupied with flying the chopper. He narrowed his eyes at them, daring them to call him crazy or a coward. They hadn't just survived a helicopter crash. He and Kaiba had. They had a right to be a little out of it. He then turned to look at the man besides him, "...so you okay?"
((That's cool, I totally get it. Same kinda stuff happened to me when I went to Japan, not to mention the absolute hell I had getting a reliable internet connection there to begin with. Hope your move goes well!))

Seto remained in quiet contemplation for a few moments before simply answering, "I'm fine." Fine was of course an outright lie. He was anything but fine, emotionally torn between confusion, fear, and an irritating desire to be physically close to Jounouchi again. There had to be a logical, and justifiable considering the circumstances, reason for that latter feeling. For the life of him though he couldn't think of even the most feeble excuse for his current feelings and recent behavior, not one that didn't fill him with a nauseating and shamed feeling.
After a few more moments of silence, the cabin crew busying themselves with anything that wasn't looking at their silent charges, Seto leaned toward Jonouchi. Pressing his lips directly against the other man's ear and speaking as softly as possibly he murmured, "I'm sure it wasn't a coincidence. Perhaps whatever this is can even hear us, though unless telepathy happens to be one of your hidden talents nothing we can do about that. Thought it wouldn't hurt to talk as quietly as possible though. For now I guess we just continue on to the hospital, get ourselves cleared and check on your mother, then figure out how to keep ourselves and most importantly our families safe until we know what we are up against and how to stop it." He pulled back and stared Jounouchi directly in the eyes, fighting back the urge to smirk when he noticed how flushed and embarrassed he looked.

Jounouchi visibly tensed as he felt Kaiba's mouth to his ear, taking in a hiss of breath not unlike how one would react to having a chunk of ice suddenly pressed to their neck. He relaxed after a moment, at least enough that he hunkered back down to listen. When Kaiba had finished, he turned to look at him, trying to pretend he didn't notice how heated his cheeks felt, and instead simply nodded slowly, agreeing with the other that those plans of action seemed best.
Jounouchi took a few minutes to let those words sink in, swallowing to himself as his face returned to a normal color. He then leaned over to Kaiba, though not quite as close as the other had been, and whispered in return, "I think for our next step, after the hospital, we should try to get advice from someone who knows more about this kinda stuff than we do. Yuugi has some mystical knowledge from his experiences with the Puzzle, and I think Bakura's the same way, maybe even more since his dad's into collecting artifacts and he's into occult stuff in general. Isis would probably know most though, if we can get in contact with her."

Seto pondered the options Jounouchi presented, not entirely happy about bringing anyone else into this melee. However the occult most certainly wasn't Seto's expertise, being a proponent of constantly denying anything he couldn't touch and see, and in some cases denying anything supernatural that he could see himself. Isis might be there best resource, but that didn't change the fact that he wasn't particularly fond of her after the way she used him for her own purposes in the past. Bakura was also someone he didn't know well and who at times seemed to have questionable motives as well.
"Yuugi's one of your closest friends, we might as well start there with someone at least one of us trusts," Seto offered, "if we hit a wall there I can probably track down Isis after that.
((Sitting in the airport with just under an hour and a half until my flight boards. I am determined to update this rp before I take off! Oye this has been one stressful final week, looking forward to start my Doctorate so I can relax. xd ))

Jounouchi nodded, content with using probably the least valuable of their resources if it meant he got to work with his best friend. They could always go to someone else if it didn't work out, as Kaiba said. At least if they lived long enough to do so. But then a thought struck him: What if dragging Yuugi into this would do worse than take up his time? What if Yuugi would be targeted as well? Maybe either Kaiba or himself had been the original target, and they only now both were because they had spent so much time together. Did that mean Shizuka and Mokuba could still be in danger too?
He didn't know, but was starting to wonder if he should make his sister stay with Anzu again and also argue that they try for Isis first. He would say it's because she would probably have the most knowledge on the subject, but in reality it was more of a desire to protect Yuugi and Bakura than anything. Jounouchi frowned to himself as he considered that though, realizing that wasn't at all fair to Isis; just because she was more of an acquaintance than a friend did not mean she was any less entitled to safety than the other two. And he knew Yuugi would want to do anything to help both himself and Kaiba, regardless of the danger it might put him in.
((Oh, I hope your flight went well and things are settling down now! Heh, never thought I'd hear that combination of words, 'start my Doctorate so I can relax.' XD))

Seto could tell something was niggling at Jounouchi, but he couldn't begin to say what. Their bizarre and at times intimate encounters as of late had done little to enhance his understanding of his current companion. At that moment though they arrived at the hospital, so further discussion would have to be put on pause for the moment. The Kaiba corp helicopter had landed first, and Mokuba and Shizuka were already rushing over to where medical was landing in order to greet them.
((First flight over, in Munich now with less than 20 of my 30 free minutes of wireless left. Considering how much flying costs I really don't see why all airports can't offer free wi-fi, SFO has it which is quite lovely. 3 more hours to kill after this expires until I can board. Quick post before I run out of time. razz
And yes, I definitely meant a great deal of humor in saying relaxing Doctorate. I hardly expect it will be but at the moment I am just ready for a change of pace.))

Jounouchi hurried himself out of the helicopter, eager to greet Shizuka and reassure himself that she was indeed fine once separated from him and Kaiba. Seeing her okay, he used that as an excuse to bury away his worries for Yuugi, telling himself that this monster thing was not interested in anyone else. For whatever reason.
((That is quite ridiculous. I mean even crappy fast food restaurants often have free wi-fi, and it's far less useful there. Many times the only way people can check up on others in airports is through the internet, if they don't have international phone service or something.
Haha, yeah, I can understand that.))

Seto allowed Mokuba to clasp him, he however made sure the contact was brief. "Let's go check on your mother," he instructed the Jounouchi siblings before charging off ahead of the group.
((Soooo sorry, did not mean to go poof this long but it's been quite an adjustment being back. Seeing Tom again has been lovely but in some ways difficult, weirdly never thought about how hard it would be to transition out of a long distance relationship into an in person relationship. Anyhow in Wales now and might still be a bit on and off, but shouldn't disappear for a week again. Hope all is well with you. Shall also try to write a less crappy post next time. xd Feeling blocked but want to force myself through, need to get back into a writing habit.))

Jounouchi nodded, taking Shizuka's hand and guiding her after Kaiba, squeezing it gently in reassurance. Yes, he did feel some pangs of grief upon hearing his mother's predicament, but overall he was okay with it, and knew it wouldn't be devastating to him if she ended up passing away. What would be devastating for him would be seeing Shizuka in panic or mourning.
((It's cool. And your post isn't so crappy. XD You know I'm not too into long posts if they're not necessary.
Hm, yeah, I had never really put much thought into long distance relationships either. Hope it becomes more comfortable again though.))

The group proceeded into the hospital lobby where they were directed to the waiting room they needed. As she was currently housed in intensive care in critical condition not even family was permitted into the room at the moment. They waited in tense silence for around a quarter of an hour before a doctor finally came to reveal the details of his patients condition.
((Heh, thanks, I feel like I should do more to move things along sometimes. 40+ pages later and it's only been 2 days. Which is cool, but seems funny. Though totally failed on that under a week plan, sorry, internet was a bit sketch in Wales, primarily in the room Tom and I stayed in. Back in Birmingham now so things should be good on that front.
I'm also a horrible person but totally laughed at your last post. Jounouchi's totally nonchalant, oh well, if she dies so be it. xd
And again the mom is your character so I'll leave it up to you what you want her prognosis to be. Coma, dying, etc etc.))

"Kawai San is currently stable, but still in a coma." the doctor explained softly, turning to look at Shizuka and Jounouchi, wincing at seeing the younger girl's reaction. "Our tests indicate that she had received damage to her cerebral cortex. It is difficult to say how long the coma can last; it depends on her brain's ability to repair itself. It... it may never even happen. We will simply need to monitor her and keep her body healthy, and hope she is able to wake up eventually."
((Eh, tons of books are 400 pages and take place in only two days. But if you want to do larger time skips, just let me know and I'll most likely go along with it. Glad you're more settled in now, and hope you had fun in Wales.
Haha, I thought that sounded kind of harsh, Jounouchi's thoughts. It's not like he doesn't care. But he just feels grief more on the level he would for an acquaintance rather than a family member. Or maybe like an aunt he used to be close to but hasn't seen in years. The old connection just isn't there anymore.))
