That's right, you got a punch in the face Alaska. That was about all the violence the younger twin could manage anyways before heaving a breath.
"I understand that too. Once you left...Dad turned it all on me. I left a few months after you did." Nevada sighed, "I would've gone anywhere if you asked it of me. But I can understand that you wanted to do your own thing too..." Alaska was set in herself and what was Nevada? A shadow of Alaska to her family, a girl who didn't remember even who she was herself. She wiped away tears and pulled back before snorting. Gotta keep it cool.
"What did you do to yourself? Tattoo's and hair dye?" She gave a curious arch of her brow, "Scratch that, it looks good. People won't think you're me and I'm you anymore." She heaved another breath. "Welcome to Deus Ex Machina island. They're going to assign you a division and a dorm room, and you're going to meet a partner." Nevada waited a beat before leaning closer, "Our partners are closer than we ever were. They see, hear and feel things and you won't be able to not feel them or hear their thoughts so...don't be surprised." Nevada reached down to lace her hand through Alaska's. "I gotta take you to the cove, so you can meet them. Then I can take you to division assignment and help you set up your room. And then I'll let you get some space so you can settle in. They'll have all the things you packed waiting for you in your new room..."

She didn't acknowledge his first comment. He didn't get that glory.
"I'm not your friend," she said rather shortly, looking him once over, crossing her original comment out and writing a second one. "It's short for Amalie, you must know that one."
Looking to her clipboard, she said, "Yes, you will. Can you walk?" She'd be the one asking questions around here, mister.nerpin she will explain more i promise alksdjf

Lips were immediately set into a scowl and she squeezed Nevada tighter. Stupid Dad. “He’s even stupider than I thought for thinking he could suddenly turn you into a clone of me so late into the game.” They possessed the same exact genes, but there was always that old argument of nature versus nurture. Nevada wiped away her tears, but Alaska frowned worriedly and fussed anyways, brushing away the tear stains.
Alaska smirked. “Not like it’s too hard to tell us apart without them, but that was sort of the point, yeah.” People who couldn’t discern between Nevada’s sleepy face and Alaska’s judging scowl needed to be culled via Darwinism. “Deus ex Machina?” she echoed with furrowed brows. “Like the plot device where—“ As Nevada leaned in, Alaska leaned back, skepticism boldly painted all over her face as she raised her arms. “Oh, okay.” She wasn’t sure how a mysterious organization could pull that off, but sounded damn creepy. Then again, did she have a choice?
As their hands laced together, she held her breath before silently grasping it. At least there was one thing constant in this screwed up situation. “Lead the way, and do try to summarize the circumstances better. For example, the general organization of the facility and…” Her voice trailed off as they began to leave.

The last thing he could remember was blue sky.
It had been eerily silent, the shockwaves had silenced all life in the island, human and monsters united in defeat at the hands of the strange men and women in their white coats, destroyers and saviours.
He'd had so many questions still to ask but there had been no time, the order had gone out to put them out and the only answer he'd found was the thump as he hit the deck of the boat.
And the irony, of course had been, he hadn't seen it coming.
BeepBeep BeepBeep BeepBeep
The beeping was constant, it made sleeping difficult, dragging him back up out of the dark. He didn't want to come back to a world full of terror, monstrous death around every corner. The energies were upset and he couldn't find his center - it was freefall again. He had spent so long running, he was good at running, good at fleeing for his life. They'd never catch him.
He took a deep breath and it felt like his first in a long time.
Quote: Another time slot. Just Melvin/Rin here atm. Busy thread is busy.

He didn't even respond to the quip, giving her a soft grin, which probably meant something, but arsed if he would tell her. ******** if he cared what she was writing about him, also, if he allowed himself to be bothered by the soft scratching of a pen on paper get to him, how would he last in life?
Hearing her request, he kind of gave her a nonchalaunt shrug, going to test his legs, slowly rising to them and taking a few steps in a circle at first, deciding that he was good enough to go places. "Mmhm, it appears my legs 'ave stopped revolting. So, educate me, Amie." Tough love, you have a nickname now.

Ami flatlined the nickname, ignoring what she could. "As you guessed, you will receive a bonded weapon. Not yet. First you'll follow me."
Without warning, she turned towards the door, fully expecting Dory to follow. It was as if she had an eye on the back of her head though, constantly watching him. If he moved out of line, she would know.
"Outside this pod room you will meet with a lab tech who will brief you on the way this facility works." She brushed a piece of hair out of her face, bored as always. "Then you will descend into the weapon's cove and receive your weapons. It's ... a process that is different for everyone. I have no secrets to give."

Follow her, he did, figuring he had already been a pain in the a** enough for her in one -- what was it, afternoon? Evening? He couldn't be certain at all, but following her footsteps, he willingly listened to her, following in step as well as he could, considering his slight dispotion after tumbling out of a pod.
"I would not expect it to be easy, to be 'onest." He figured, rubbing the back of his neck a little, "It may not be much to you, but I appreciate your taking time, whether you had to or not." He mumbled a bit. Being nice was hard.

"You'll be please to know it doesn't matter if you appreciate it or not," she said shortly, rechecking her notes. "The last thing I'm required to say is of course- any questions?"
She looked at him nonchalantly. The feeling of "there are indeed stupid questions" permeated the air, making it quite apparent that Ami wouldn't tolerate a thickheaded hunter.

A soft grin showed on the frenchman's face when she said that - he had expected the cool answer from her. Giving her a little shrug, he thought about everything that had been said - trying to commit it all to memory again - before shrugging again.
"Pretty straight forward. No questions, currently. I doubt you'd want to 'ear them." He quipped pleasantly, before looking around. "Shall I exit stage right, leave you to the rest of your day?" He offered.

Ami pushed the door open with one of her hands. "Exactly."
At least he'd been smart enough to figure that one out. "Welcome to Deus Ex."

Melvin enjoyed pod duty. It was quiet, private, and when he was alone here and not partnered up, he had the entire place to himself. Usually he spent that time cleaning or, recently, working on his tablet. These were nice distractions, but recent events had a new one now placed in his lap.
Hands set on a pair of hips, he looked up and smiled. "Someone must have been very dumb or we must have been very lucky to have pod duty at the same time." A gloved hand moved up her ribs.
The distant beeping had him glancing down the long rows of glowing blue pods before glancing back up at her. Whatever it was, it was annoying.

Rin smirked at Melvin from her comfortable perch upon his lap. Her arm slid sensually across the top of his shoulder to draw him close as she moved in with a careful lean when - Beepbeep Beepbeep Beepbeep. That train of thought was completely derailed and she moved to escape the comfortable warmth of his lap.
"Sounds like someone is waking up," Rin glanced back to offer Melvin a quick apologetic look before resuming in the direction of the sound.

Taking stock of his surroundings, he realised he was in some sort of container, trapped and panicked. He reached out to push against the glass in front of him and mercifully it gave way, the pod swinging open. He stood up immediately, ready to run if he'd found himself in another nightmare scenario, if once again he was back in the den of the monsters.
There were people. Human people. White coated.
Was he some kind of science experiment now? Saved from the maw of destruction just to end up subject to something a lot worse.
"E..excuse me?" he said feebly, ragged and scruffy as he'd been when plucked from the stricken safari park, blood caked his clothes, some of it his own from cuts and scrapes, some from the dining hall and the massacred people around him as he made his escape. He was dry now though, which was his only hint that time had passed. He didn't recognise either of them from that day. "Where am I?"

Melvin had heard the beeping, but he hadn't thought it would actually be a pod person waking up. He expected more alarms and lights, but Rin, who had been used to welcoming new awakened hunters (himself included), rushed off his lap the moment the noise went off.
Startled that this was actually it (and of ALL the moments to interrupt), Melvin pushed off his chair and headed close after Rin till he stopped to see a pod lid lift and a man stumble out. Considering how Melvin came out of his pod, just dizzy, confused, but still relatively looking well, this man had to be considered strange. A tall, gangly man with scruffy blonde hair and blue eyes, if cleaned up he might have been one of the many additions to the blonde populace on Deus. However, he was wearing some gaudy assortment of purple beachwear, some sorta half-skirt, and a bunch of tropical jewelry - all caked in dried blood.
Melvin stopped in his tracks while the man stood there, confused about where he was. "Whoa." He looked to Rin. "Is that normal?" He whispered to her.
He looked back to the podling and then it dawned on him finally. This was his first ever hatching to a new hunter. Sadly, it was to the mess of one.
"You are in Deus Ex. A Island for Hunters." Melvin looked around and sighed. "I left my clipboard back there. Hold on." He moved off to get the clipboard where he left it.

Rin slammed her breaks to just stare at the mess of a man from a safe, not getting bloody, distance. He looked like he took a blood bath right before popping into his pod. When asked about the normalcy, Rin immediately turned her attention on Melvin to shake her head 'no'. She watched him go with a distant sad look that just screamed 'please don't leave me alone with this thing'. But alas, she was left alone with it. Her attention slid back to the strange creature before her.
"So. Um. Greetings, my name is Rin Alder," she would offer her hand... but, yeah, no, she's not going to be offering her hand.
