"Divisions are basically squads. Each one has a different specific duty it specializes in, but mostly everyone covers everything they're needed for. There are five divisions. Sun, they are the front line fighters. They're most adept in weapons training, and they can handle the heavy hitters pretty well. Moon, front line defense and field medics, they also help in the infirmary. Building, repairs, things like that. Then there's Death, they're basically the intelligence division who goes out before a mission or an assignment to gather information that is later analyzed by Life. Life is in charge of the labs, the experiments, runics, various inventions that make everyone's lives both easy and annoying." Candace then grinned. "And then finally we have Mist, my division." She offered her hand to the man. "Candace Pennington, it's nice to meet you. Mist is the jack of all trades division, we're expected to learn all of the other divisions' duties. We do have out own but..we mostly keep to ourselves. You'll be placed in what they think is the best division for you."

Candace chuckled quietly to herself, rubbing one of the rings she wore with her thumb. "Follow me so far? Don't be afraid to tell me to slow down or repeat something, or to explain something in more detail."

It was a lot of information, but at the same time it was quite fascinating. Ian listened with a curious expression, nodding every once in a while, and a smile blossomed across his face as she got to the Mist Division.

"You seem pretty pleased to be where you are," he said, and accepted her hand, giving it a firm shake. "Nice to meet you, Candace, I'm Ian Rahal-Nazari and I hail from Canada originally, though I'm pretty sure this is most definitely not Canada."

His gaze flickered briefly to the unusual rings and then back up again, the smile widening. "You're fine. I'm keeping up just fine. So what's this cove you're talking about?"

Candace did indeed beam with pride when he pointed out she looked pleased with her division. "I am, I love my division. It's the perfect place for me, I could never just do one thing, I like to be as involved as possible in pretty much anything I can get myself into."

Huh..that was definitely not a Canadian name. What was his heritage? Now she was curious. "Rahal-Nazari, what is that? Middle Eastern?" Candace asked, chuckling when he pointed out they weren't in Canada. "At the moment we're in the Bermuda Triangle. Don't be fooled by all the fog you're going to see outside, we are in the tropics."

When asked about the Cover she grinned. "The cove is where you'll be getting your weapon. Out weapons are converted from what used to be creatures of another world, a world we call Halloween. Every Hunter gets one and we're bound to them. They're injured, we're injured, they feel everything we feel, they know our every thought, you're going to have to get used to a voice in your head for the rest of your life. It's perfectly normal. And each weapon is different. Here, I'll show you." Candace stopped walking and held out her hands so Ian could see her two rings. "This is Atropos. All of our weapons have what we call a totem state when they're not in use," she explained before the purple gems on the rings glowed brighter and brighter, the entire rings fading in a purple light that melted down onto Candace's legs. She turned a bit so he could get a good look at her, putting her hands on her hips and pushing the ruffles of her coat back. "Like I said, every Hunter's weapon is unique. No two are exactly alike." Usually..Aria's was a special case.

"Good," said Ian, in a very matter-of-fact tone of voice. He grinned down at Candace. "Loving where you are and what you're doing is the best sort of feeling in the world, and everyone should be at that point at some time in their life."

The smile widened a little. "Arabic," he said. "But my family came to the United States when I was very young, and then we moved up to Canada when I was six, so I've lived most of my life there."

The Bermuda Triangle certainly made sense. And while the fog outside was heavy, the fog inside of Ian's mind was slowly beginning to grow a little clearer for him to remember. His gaze moved down to the rings again on Candace's hands, then trailed down her legs, his brows lifting in surprise at the boots appeared in a hue of bright purple and black.

"Very impressive," he said, smiling. "Those are some pretty kickass shoes you've got there. So at this cove place, I'll get my own weapon there?"

He snapped his fingers together. "Sounds exciting. I'm game."

Ah, that explained it. How interesting! Quite the dramatic change in culture and climate, huh? Candace walked easily with Atropos summoned, no longer with a hesitance in her step as she had had as a trainee. "Thank you, we've both worked very hard to get to where we are today. She also thanks you. They're the most badass shoes on the island, too."

Candace grinned. "Yes, we'll get your weapon, your division assignment, and I'll help you find your dorm as well. Anything you packed with you," that hadn't been confiscated because reasons, "will already be waiting for you there."
PostPosted: Mon Jun 10, 2013 6:41 pm

"I'm sure you have," replied Ian easily, sliding a hand into his pocket. "You seem the type to go after what you want, and you're pretty confident in what you have."

He smiled brightly. "Sounds exciting. I look forward to working with you."

Hearing someone over his head was not something he expected, blue eyes flicking around the glowing, stagnant pods that were surrounding him, his feet tangled up in the cording before the pod he could only assume was his own.

Finally, he caught sight of her, the woman standing languished behind him - as if his very coming was as boring as watching paint dry. It probably was, but he couldn't give many ******** about that. Giving a pained, dry laugh, he looked up at her, figuring that the floor was a-okay for him for the time being.

"Mais, si je ne parle pas anglais?" He asked her, raising his eyebrows, giving her a small daring look, before shrugging a little, going to drag a very tired arm over to rub the other, feeling like he had pinned something under him with his shoulder. "That ********' 'urt." He finally stated, in English, his pronunciations a little muddled. With a long sigh, he waited a few moments before he turned up to her again, cocking his eyebrow a bit to her.

"So, how did I come by here." He figured he'd start somewhere, frowning. "I do not recall being in a ********' pod, but . . ." He paused, lightly tilting a hand over his head, trying to catch words. " Ahh . . . merde. Um --- taches de mémoire -- I do not remember." He tried to reason with her, giving her a "please understand" look.

"Je peux vous dire que vous me comprenez, imbécile," Ami chided, pulling out what basic french she knew from over the years. Her expression remained absolutely flat, completely unamused with his little quirky ways.

She scribbled something on her clipboard, though whether it was a professional documentation or a personal note was a mystery to poor Dory. "Welcome to Deus Ex Academy," she interrupted, unphased by his ill memory. She dealt with many fumbling trainees, and had adapted to simply not give a single s**t of a ******** anymore. The last one she'd made an exception for because he was cute, but Dory? Dory had no such luck with Ami being taken now.

Her words came quickly, chopped and short. To the point, and always with a point. "My name is Ami, if you don't remember yours is Dorian, though it seems some called you Dory." With all the memory problems, Ami's mind flashed to a small blue fish, but she kept the comment to herself. "This is a military facility of sorts. We equip potent candidates such as yourself with the means and munitions to eradicate erroneous beings- ah, the "shadows" I presume you see in one way or another."

Gesturing to the pod he'd asked about, she said, "Candidates are placed in a pod which simulates like environments while simultaneously testing your abilities." With a completely deadpan face, she also added, "Arriving here means you've passed, congratulations." If Ami was proud or excited, it definitely didn't show.

When she breathed, she breathed like she hadn’t tasted air in months and perhaps that was true. She didn’t know yet. She couldn’t even gather her senses at the moment. There was only the soft intake of stale air before she opened heavy eyelids and everything came rushing in, racing to fill in the void. Burning light overtook the pitch black darkness. Cold air replaced the numbness. She wanted to close her eyes, but something inside her refused, as if to welcome the change in lighting as she took in another breath, louder and more frantic.

Anything dead coming back to life hurts. She had never fully understood that quote until now. Even just moving her fingers seemed to hurt like she had been frozen for a very long time. Tempting as it was to groan, she settled for a soft hiss as she took a few minutes to gradually warm up her body—rolling her neck, flexing her fingers, stretching whatever limbs she could. Her body felt uncomfortably light. When was the last time she had exercised? She was pretty sure she didn’t want to know the answer to that, so she concentrated on her surroundings instead.

Strange noises. Cool temperature. Tattooed fingers reached for the edges of her…pod? She furrowed her brows together as she gazed outside of her container. The sight made her want to laugh because she was utterly convinced she found herself on a movie set for some sort of science-fiction movie. There couldn’t be any other explanation, as ridiculous as the idea already was. But when she popped her head out of the pod, she found only more pods, an endless sea until she spotted monitors at the very end of the room. There wasn’t a single movie camera in sight. Not even the usual ceiling lights. This was…real?

“Ah.” Her voice came out quiet and raspy, but that was right. Those stupid trials. Funny how she had completely forgotten those. Rather, how stupid she had forgotten those until now. God. It was absolutely ridiculous how much like a video game this was. No clue where or what this was nor what those trials were, and somehow she was expected to figure it all out.

“Hmph.” She rolled her wrists, bones cracking just as she fully stopped out of her pod. The heels of her shoes clacked against the ground until she casually kicked the stomach of someone lying sprawled in the middle of the floor. “Hmm?” She furrowed her brows together and casually flipped the girl onto her back.

“Ah…” Nevada. She furrowed her brows even more. Now just what a goddamn ******** minute here. What was her twin sister doing here too?

ಠ_ಠ

Truly, kicking her younger sister in the stomach was so nostalgic it could’ve brought tears to her eyes, but alas it didn’t.

Nevada grumbled on the floor by her twin's pod. She had been sleeping Stormy's room since the thing with Roland but....She never quite felt rested until she at least took one nap by her sister's pod at least once a day. She snuck out of paperwork to do so, and it wasn't like people really looked for trainee's.

Especially not in the pod room.

She shifted, blinking as she looked at the form and grumbled more. "Go away Alaska, this is my nap space.....You don't get one...."

Pause...

No wait this was a dream. Go back to sleep Nevada. Alaska hadn't woken up any of the times she had been down here before, so why should she now? She curled back up and fell asleep again.

"Feisty."

Giving her a grin, slowly finding the strength to at least sit up, patting himself down as he listened to her, he would do anything for a hit of nicotine, but knowing how . . . serious the situation was, he was finding himself sorely missing the tin that he may have parted with at one point during this arduous journey in to a pod.

"Dory is fine. Jus do not call me a fish." He admittedly loudly, giving her a 'I know you're thinking it.' look, before shrugging a bit. "I do recall a recruiter, of a sort - back in Europe, that is. This does not feel like Europe." He quipped lightly, before willingly listened to her, allowing her to talk for once without any kind of short talk from the peanut gallery, scratching his face a little lightly, looking around from his sitting position.

"I do appreciate your willing-ness to introduce me at least, Ami." A pause. "Ami. Amie, A friend. Rather fitting, would you say? But, I suppose that we're given a weapon of a sort then, since you eluded to such." He asked, curious now. ""ow does that work, ma Amie?"

The older twin appeared hardly amused at the brunette’s response, but at least she could confirm that yes this was her twin. But why Nevada was sleeping on the floor was beyond Alaska. Not that it surprised her. She’d lost track of how many times she’d found her sibling dozing on the floor. She sighed loudly before tilting her head and placing her hands on her hips.

“I’m glad you could recognize me beneath all the tattoos and hair dye--“ No references to the past, to their strict father and her running away from home, but it was easy to see what had caused the drastic changes in appearance. “—But that’s hardly the way to treat your older sister after how many…?” Another kick to the stomach, lighter this time. Her voice trailed off, leaving Nevada to fill in the blanks for Alaska. It used to be that Alaska had been the toting around Nevada and helping her out. Now it was the other way around, but she didn’t mind that in the least.

Nevada grumbled more, why did this dream hurt so much? Alaska stop kicking her or she was going to shove...

/Pidge, You ain't dreamin' Some weird ghoul is like really kicking you./
Her eyes slowly opened, looking up at her sister. It took a moment to clarify that it was her twin. Their matching green eyes, ones Nevada hid under violet contacts...The same nose and jaw structure. Where Alaska's lips were fuller, Nevada's thinned a little. There was no doubt that it was her twin. And she felt her heart drop into a little million pieces.

Her twin looked so different. Extremely so. Tattoo's...her hair was dyed. It was hard to even tell that they were twins in the first place.

"Alaska?" She leaned up, blearily rubbing her eyes to make sure she wasn't in some like fantasy dream come real. "Is this for real..." She pushed herself up, reaching out to touch her sister's face. Same height, Same build. Same everything.

And then Nevada did this:

User Image

"That's for leaving me and not telling me anything." And then she hugged her sister..."I missed you so much oh my god Alaska, It's been so hard waiting for you to wake up, I didn't think you were going to. I was starting to lose hope. You left first, and then I came to find you and do you know how hard it was to wake up a hunter before you? GOD WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME ANYTHING BEFORE YOU LEFT. I WOULD'VE UNDERSTOOD!"
PostPosted: Mon Jun 10, 2013 11:41 pm

The hard glare in her eyes—the same judgemental stare that she loved to give—softened a bit. Alaska stiffened at the touch, but she stood obediently with arms at her side. “It’s real.” She half-expected some sort of touching reunion.

Not a goddamn punch in the face.

Alaska stumbled backwards, muttering like a sailor. She growled, “Jesus <********> Christ—“ Ah, here was the hug at last. She paused, but tentatively wrapped her arms around Nevada’s waist. It took her a while to find the right words to say, so she settled for soothingly running her hand up and down her sister’s back. “…I’m sorry, but it was too much for me at the time. I wanted to just leave and explore the world.” “Wanted to just leave” barely covered it. The crushing heartbreak of a first love. Your entire perfect life crashing down. Shattered expectations all in the course of a few months. “I know you would’ve,” she agreed, “but I didn’t want you bumbling around as a homeless, runaway kid like me.”
