Salmenella Topic of universities and exchange programs: I'm hoping to study abroad in Germany probably in my 3rd year. Since I'm getting my degree in German that is sure to help me. The university I'm transferring to even has a program called Deutsche Sommerschule am Pazifik which is an immersion summer school program with also a teacher training seminar for a week. Pretty excited for it. I just need to get back into my community college! Ahhhhhh. If you get to study in Germany - wow. I have a friend who spent a year there studying too, he reckons it was the best time of his life and he still keeps in contact with his host family.

It's bitter sweet that I'm starting to see the neighborhood cats wandering around again. Sweet that I can see cats in person again (******** I miss my cats) Bitter that I don't want to hit them while I'm driving. One ran across the street into my driveway as I was pulling up.

Are they strays or do they belong to people?

I know the guy across the street will let his cat outside every once in a while. But I believe the rest are strays. I've heard that people just like to release their cats in our city when they don't want them any more. Like they'll drive in from a different city and just leave them. Or used to. I met a guy in one of my classes a couple years ago that lives about a mile down the street from me that said that. He leaves food out for them.

Well that's just plain cruel. Why buy a pet and then leave it when you can't be bothered with it anymore? >.<

I think its because the shelters around here don't really help with that much. One of my mom's friends had hamsters I think and she went to take it to the shelter like not even a mile from her house and they said that they wouldn't take them and they weren't even full. They finally took them when she told them that she'd just release them outside (she couldn't take them when she got remarried).
Any other reason I have no idea.

Yeah I know. Our area sucks. That's why on my dad side, even though my grandparents would get dogs from breeders, we've been getting rescue animals. My family jokes around that I'd be that person on the news with the hundred cats.

I have a friend who's a little like that. The sad thing is, she's actually allergic to cats.
