" Thank you" she said bowing low, in a common geisha style. If she had learned anything from her mother it was how to bow. " It is most important, my little nightingale" Her mother had said at dinner once. Her mother always had called her nightingale, perhaps it was because she sung constanly where ever she went, often matching her steps to the rythem of the song stuck in her head. Miyoko sat down at the table and picked up a pair of chopsticks, eating only a little bit. She wasn't peticularly hungry that morning. " It tastes wonderful" she remarked.

"It's lovely. Or, it was..." Rain said, returning with a broom. She quickly swept up the rice and bowed humbly, sitting back down.

Everything is wonderful sister *she smiles happily to Tora, giggling and taking another bite. she swallows* i dont think i've had a great meal such as this in my entire life

"Aww, thank you everyone!" Tora said blushing. She stood and placed her plate in the sink. "Well, Rose-chan, shall we get ready for the tea house? Oh! Don't forget to sign up for two classes," she said smiling at the young maiko.

She worked her jaw up and down listenting to the geisha and maiko. Oh how she longed to be a geisha. If only the fire... she shook her head, trying to shake out the images of that terrible day. Focusing on her rice she avoided eye contact with anyone. Not that she was a reclusive girl, she was just slightly uncomfortable.

"Very wonderful, food my little one! I quite enjoyed it, Tora,"Serena smiled. She figured she'd never break the habit of calling her former maiko by pet names.

Tora giggled slightly at Roses sudden green expression. "It'll be okay Rose, you don't have to go now; It is quite soon. The classes however, need to be done immediatly," she smiled. "Tell me which classes you'd like and I will accompany you and get you signed up." Tora turned to Serena. "Thank you Serena-chan!" she said as Serena complemented her food. Sakura walked in and Tora turned to her. "Hello Sakura-chan! Yes, there is plenty here. I made more than enough!" she said smiling.

Miyoko stood up gracefully, picking up her empty bowl and moving to the sink. She cleaned it out and dried it. She looked around " Umm...Mother-san, what tasks do you wish me to do? I don't wish to intrude on others tasks or take them as my own,so that is why I waste your precious time..." She was looking down now and standing right in front of Serena.

" Yes Mother-san, I would be honored" she said with a sweet smile and bowed. She went around with a watering can and began to water the plants, taking care for each kind of plant. As she did this, she sung softly. Being lost in chores was an outlet for her unease about being in a new okiya.

Ayame ate slowly and politely. Her mother and she would show politeness in her home and out of home, in her Kyoto. She repeated it in the okiya just the same. She finished the bowl of rice, announced, "Gochisousama." and packed away her meal and placed it into the sink
