morphingbutterfly i hate to hear about your kittys jaz and ebil....and there is no shame in crying for your pet....they are like family.... i know i have shed many a tear for my pets....especially my chihuahua i have....i raised her since she was 4 hours old....there were only 2 in the litter and the mom couldnt feed them so she walked away and left them to die....my aunt gave me the girl and another lady took the boy....this was while i was preg with jake...so i guess my motherly instincts took over.....dolly was my baby....and i guess due to the fact she didnt have the nutrients that a mothers milk provides...she had problems....see.....when she would play...after she wa through..she would have a seizure....and i being a panicky person..i rushed her to the vet....i was there every other day....crying cause i didnt know what was wrong with her and scared of what would happen to her...it turns out the reason for the seizures was cause she was diabetic....so we had this little tube of paste we would give her to ease the seizures......that pup went with me everywhere......to work, home, the store, and the bank.....which that is a funny story right there....... i worked for my dad mechanicing on 18 wheelers.....yes preg and torquing down a detroit...it was a funny sight....but anyway....i had to run to the bank to deposit checks.....i had dolly with me....she was so small...so i put her in my shirt...i walked up to the teller and was waiting...then she stared at me...i was trying to readjust dolly....i told the teller listen...i have my puppy in here....and i pulled dolly out so she could see....i had to..it looked like she was fixing to hit the panick button lol dolly is now 4 years old....healthy other then she has an alergic reaction to fleas sad .....her brother didnt make it to a month old sad ....i guess being paranoid wasnt so bad at that time...if yall would like to see her then go Hereand thanks jelly for letting me know about that....i love the honor 3nodding ...but i am not sure how i got it...it has been so long since i have posted there eek ....i am a lurker ninja I have a story similar to that wit not so happy an ending though! I was about twelve years old and we had about eight rabbits.two males somehow got mixed into the bunch and two of the three females got pregnant. And if you know anything about rabbits you'll know that one female will kill another females babies if she fears that they treaten her territory. So we seperated all three... One preg one in the big cage the non preg in the small cage and the other preg in the kennel we had from when we had lots of big dogs. Well a couple of months later my bunnies had babies and they all survived!!! This was the first time that one or two (or the whole litter) hadn't died so i was soo excited twelve new babies in all!!! Well to shelter the babies from the the sun the momma bunny had given birth under the lawn mower (don't worry we knew she had them there) and two days after they were born a huge pit bull ran into my yard and scared her half to death... I sure all she was thining about were he new babies! So she squeezed out of the gate.... And the dog killed her the lady who was watching us saw it all and came and got me... I was devistated!!! The dog was still in my back yard shaking her. I was so furious! I grabbed a shovel and hit him to get him to drop her. Then I chased him still hitting him out of my yard and three blocks from my house. By the time I got back she had died! And her babies had no one to care for them. My mom told me to leave them where they where for the moment and she would come and help with them!!! But I couldn't just after I got off of the phone with her the rain came and it came hard and fast. A bucket could be filled in less than two minutes fast... So I gathered them all up and took them inside and held them close to me to keep them warm. A few minutes later my mom came home with a container of kitten milk (which was too high in protein fro herbivors but I didn't know that then and that was what the petsmart people told her to give them) I was up every two hours with those babies until the last one finally died! The finally one died four days after his mother. I was absolutely destroyed! I still miss them to this day!!!

that's so sad, i think people forget that all pets have wild ancestors and that's why they're so shocked when something like that happens. it's still a very horrible thing though. a friend of mine lost her 2 rabbits when a fox got into their garden, it only attacked one(which put up a good fight) but the other literally died of fright sad

crying crying crying crying crying crying crying crying
all these stories of rabbits is making me think of mine cry ...i had 4 of them at seperate times....my first rabbit shane....he was pretty...he died of a heat stroke cry which was my fault....i made a shade for him but it was just too hot and well... crying ....i was so upset that i was staying with my dad the weekend after that...and my ex went and bought me shana...had him in a box hanging from a tree and told me to go and look in it...that was cool xd
my second rabbit who was named shana....but we found out was a boy later on...he stayed right outside my first home in a cage about 3 feet off the ground....it was holiday season...a week before christmas....my ex and i had all of our christmas presents stored in the front bed room...one day while i was at school...they called me to office ans said my moms house was on fire....the cop took me home and i was in shock to find out that it was my home that was on fire...they had put the fire out by now...but there was a big hole where my rabbits cage use to stand....i freaked and jumped out of the van while it was still rolling...running up...cop got in my way i was not a nice butterfly at the time...i was on the ground squalling about my rabbit...my dad and his friend were sifting through the ashes....they went walking around the house...they found my rabbit...up under the back porch...omg..i went from tears a saddness to happiness...i didnt care about anything except my rabbit.....but all the christmas presents were fine..just a little smoked up..but all in good condition...shana passed on his own...
thumper was my 3rd rabbit....only rabbit i knew that would fight you to drink tea and eat spaghetti eek ...i had her for a few months and then won dizzy at a little fair that was here...yep...i threw a ping pong ball into an ashtray and won dizzy...lol...so cute...with one loppy ear....the cold got them..even with the lights on them..i lost both of them one weekend...my mom and bro and sis went to mount vernon for their festival came back and both were gone... crying crying
i loved everyone of them so much...miss them too cry ...i want to get another rabbit so bad but am afraid to with my past history with them....

I used to have rabbits too... Two boys, Luffe and Trampeline (don't ask lol ) Then one summer I went on vacation, and when I came back my mom told me she'd sent the rabbits away to "live on a farm" (yeah, sure).
Now I just have my three cats (yup, I'm definitely turning into a crazy cat lady xd ) and I'm happy with that. I don't think I'll ever get another "cage pet"...

Syrius_Lionwing's thread about it is here. morphingbutterfly thumper was my 3rd rabbit....only rabbit i knew that would fight you to drink tea and eat spaghetti eek ... Oooh, a gourmet food eater! xd It's so sad to hear all the rabbit stories! It's so hard having/losing pets! I think that's one reason we currently don't have any. (Do you recognize me? I'm a whole new person today!) rofl
