 The Reality ◑ The Delusion

- As things were going, Emery was having a lot of fun. Making things pretty was, after all, what she enjoyed most! And rarely did her siblings ever let her make things pretty herself, not without them screaming and taking everything away from her! What great outing this turned out to be, what a stupendous, wonderful - what was that..? The thing put in front of her carried the shape of a fishy, but it didn't smell like a fishy.. or really look like a fishy.. Did it taste like a fishy? Emery really didn't want to find that one out.. So, what to do with this black, too stinky with seasonings, mass of ick? Make it pretty!!
Emery didn't have her banana this time... So, she needed something pretty, something eye attracting.. Her eyes met down at the tangled locks of red hair falling past her shoulder. That was pretty! Pulling a pair of hidden kid safe scissors from her somewhere, she snipped some of her hair off and place it neatly on where she believed the head of the fish was. The fish had pretty hair.. But something was missing.. Something .. Ah! Emery reached down and took her shoe off, then her sock, to which she cut the bottom of the sock so that it was open on both ends and slipped the burnt fish into. Now it had a pretty dress too! Putting her shoe back on, she sat back and grinned at her work. Pretty fish.

Time to judge the next round. Gladice got up from her chair and went toward the tables. This time, she started with her biggest disappointment of the year : Haruka. She went over the girl's table, without expecting anything out of her. How she had done so well fours years ago only to have failed ever since was beyond her. As she arrived in front of her stand, she was happy to see the dish! It wasn't looking like her best, but still better than most things she had seen before! Maybe this one would tast good?

Ah! Yes! YES! THIS WAS WHAT SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT! Finally the girl was improving! Maybe it had just been the stress of having her mother there. She should ban Nanami from ever getting close to the cooking festival from now on if that was the case...
Being all happy that Haruka was back in business, she went to the next table, which just so happen to be her friends Talna and Turner! She looked at their plate and was greeted with a mix feeling. This looked... Ordinary, to say the least but... it was well done! It looked really good and seemed to have been cooked pretty good as well! Maybe they had went a bit strong on the turnips, but hey, maybe it would tast good! She took a big bite.

Oh, what was she thinking, there wasn't too much turnips! This tasted just fine! Perfect even! Oh, this round was just wonderful! She wished really hard that every meal she would taste would be that good! It was better than the previous round, that much was certain.
She went to the next table where her Grandson was waiting. She looked at his Orange Chicken was, once again, was really impressed! This was wonderfully done! The chicken was just right and all those oranges made it so pretty! It would probably taste just like how it looked, that is, wonderful! She couldn't wait to take a bite.

Mayby she had her hopes up? It didn't tasted bad, far from there, but she had tasted better things. If the Hipps turnip had been good, maybe Keith had placed too much oranges... which was weird because she just loved oranges. Ah well, he had still gotten a decent score.
The next table had been the FrenchToast girls. She had wished they had done something more original than their entree and... they just had! Chicken a la creme? Well, that was a good recipe, but she wasn't sure if the girls had done it right... she couldn't really say why, but somethign just looked wrong in it... She took a suspicious bite.

Well, it tasted decent. Average. Not bad, not that good. Average was the best way to describe that plate it would seem, so, she gave them an average score.
She shrugged it and moved to the next table, which just turned out to be her grand daughter and her OH MY GOD. The aroma! The look! The design! The texture! The consistency! Even the size of the chicken! The cut throught the potatoes! It was... Perfect! She could see perfection shining from that plate! How could it be.. she had no idea.
+10 for perfection.
No, no. Wait. She still had to be realistic.
-9 for reality.
She took a fork and knife and moved around the plate for twenty second, not being sure eactly where to cut. Oh, wherever would be good. She just hoped that dished tasted as perfect as it looked!

 Gladice blinked twice after tasting the chicken. Something.. was wrong. She had no idea why, but it just didn'T tasted as perfect as she would have imagine. Oh, it was still good alright but... not perfect. Talk about a mood killer. In another round, this would have been one of the best dish she would have tasted but... this time? It didn't amaze her that much... She still gave the girl a good score and then moved on.
Next table was Catrina and Mei. She looked at the plate and was struck with confusion. It was raw? Again? It wasn't even a tartar... it looked... It looked like a pheasant but... was it? And why was it raw? So much confusion.... Still, she took a knife, cut a peice and brought it to her lips....
And then she saw it.
The left over from the previous round? IT WAS CRAWLING WITH WORMS.
Without wasting a moent more, she spat the peice of dead bird out of her mouth and started to vomit on the ground. What else could you do when you had just noticed you were eating raw bird and previously worms?

ZERO! This was what they were getting! A big fat ZERO. Oh, she was trembling from that experience. Even the Florence through the years had never done something so disgusting (she was still oblivious to Florence 1 vomit).
She walked away as fast as she could from there directly to Kevin's and Benedikt station. She wasn't quite sure what they had done, but it couldn't be worst then worms! Oh, that was so gross.
But wait a sec... was it.. chicken? Still? How many chicken had she tasted? Four? Well, better that than worms...

Zemblanity Insomnia Well.. It was chicken and tasted weird, she had to admit, but either way, it was still better than dead birds and worms. That was just gross. She might have removed them a point for it not being very frenchy, but she couldn't really care about that right now. She was still trying to supress the memory of Catrina's plate.
She went in the opposite direction of Catrina, which lead her to Raiden's table. She looked at the plate that was... Unimpressive. Not that it looked bad, but it didn't look great either. It was another average looking one. She took a bite, without expecting much out of it.

Well, for an average looking dish, it didn't tasted average at all! It was actually pretty good! Even better than Alanis, dare she think! That was just what it took for her to gain her good mood back!
Which quickly went away when she saw Benedetta's plate. Did the woman even knew how to cook a fish? This was just... aweful! A children could have done better than that! But then, she remembered that in the previous round, someone had copied her... but many...SHE had been the one copying! And now, on her own, she was failing! Gladice took a suspicious bite.

And it didn't tasted good either! That's it! Cheeting AND making bad meal? Benedetta had became her new Dante! Detta-Dante! Their names was even alike! Oh lord... Hadn't Bela... Yes! She had told her that Dante went into crossdressing a lot! Detta was Dante! Oh, she should have known!
Angry, she walk away toward the next table, which was Cornor's. She looked at his plate of... Raw Hotdog? Was that suppose to be a joke? She wasn't impressed! There wasn't even anything French about that! The only French thing she could see was the name of the Mustard's company! Oh wait... did he... yes, yes he did! Oh! Genius! That brought a smile to her lips. You had to really think to do somethign like that! And be bold! Just like you had to be bold to give wine to a kid.. what? She snatched the bottle away from John and glared at his father, as she took a bite in the raw hotdog.

All in all, it tasted average. What else could you imagine from a regular raw hotdog? At least the mustard was good....
Shrugging, and taking a sip of wine just because she could, she went to the next table, which was Benedek. She glared at him. Why was she glaring? Because, once again, there was nothing french about that! And it was STILL a desert! That... That was enough to make the woman REALLY angry! Hadn't they read the rules?

Nope, she wasn't even tasting it. She was just giving him a zero because they just weren't following the rules!
She walked off toward next aweful thing at the festival, that is, the baboon. She glanced at the dish, which strangly looked very normal. Those were mussel? Just... mussel? Oh thank god! This was probably the best dish comming out of a Florence ever! She happily took oone.

Wasn't it awful that a Monkey and a Baboon could make something that tasted better than almost half the people at the festival? Just for that, she gave them an almost perfect score. That wouldn't happen very often.
She then went to the last table, which was Xiero. Last time, he had impressed her with her meal and she was hopping he would do it once again but... after one look at the plate, she wasn't sure anymore. First of all, it was tabbouleh, which was middle eastern or Arabic, but not French! Oh, he should have known better! And what worst, it was all much and gross! She really was disappointed in him!
