She was rooting through her pockets, trying in vain to find another clip so that one annoying piece of hair would be out of her face. Unfortunately her skirt pocket was empty and she knew very well that the only thing in her breast pocket was a simple gold ring. Though a weight on her shoulder and a chitter drew her attention. She looked over into red eyes and a furry little face that was extremely close to her own. He had her clip! "Oh hello Nym. Can I have that back, please?" A pet to his head, mussing the fur with the red rune on it.

He only chittered lightly and purred some before buzzlign her cheek and dropping the hair clip from his mouth to a waiting hand. Then he promptly sat on his hind legs and took to grooming himself...he always did that after someone messed up that runic patch of fur. Sure you can have it, I'm sure Sevilin wouldn't appreciate it in his pocket. And no one wants to have hair in thier eyes.

Meilikki waited for the tohers to leave before looking, as much as she could be said to look, at Onyx. "This is as private as it is going to get, Onyx. Ask your question, and I will answer it to the best that I am able."

Onyx grumbled lightly, but shrugged. if this was as good as it was going to get, then what the hell.
"What is teh odds, or chance, that someone I like in a certain way will like me in that way?"
Damn it. why can't he get the privacy in the ONE time he really, really wanted it?
Malik was silent after that, just grinning lightly at Zahara's antics. never the less, they were getting closer to thier goal. soon enough they'd be most definately within the range of any kind of magical power of seeing this lich may have. or whatever magical devices he was using to grow an army.

Meilikki sighed, and her expression softened. She leaned back and steepled her fingers. "Onyx, dear vah. I said once that the future of you're kind was clouded. I was not wrong, although I have had the opportunities to see some of yours." She spread her hands. "If I tell you, it will change the future. That is the way it always is.If I say yes, you might not try hard enough, or increase your efforst and step beyond a one chance crossroads. If I say no, you may try to hard, or simply give up now."
"I'm sorry, Onyx. I cannot tell you more than thay without a fair exchange. I have already been exceeding my...free limits."

Oh joy...battle silence...nothing but the sound of hooves, feet, and armor. Yeah that was pleasing on the ears. In her down distraction she pulled her bow around, running sight checks on it and what not, making sure things went smoothly....that was the thing with a compund bow, had to make sure gears didn't lock up and what not. "Do tell...what's our first move when we get there anyway?" To think she hadn't thought about it till now.
Well he'd be damned, she asked a good question. Though he didn't really care...seeing as he had his own planes that no doubt would either back Malik's or wouldn't directly interefer enough to cause anything of worry. Yes he only took orders to so much of an extent.

Onyx scratched behind his ear lightly.
"Well..I didn't mean it like that..I mean..do I have a decent shot? I mean a twenty percent chance is a 'decent' shot if you play the odds. I wasn't really looking for a yes or no."
A slight grin though.
"I can give some kind of payment...maybe some seafood? Whirlwind likes it..and I bet in that cave you were in you didn't really get to try any."
Malik was quiet for a few moment's longer.
"It's realtively simple. the Golems make our first line. they are filled with poisonus gases and acidic compounds. so even if they take damage, they'll be effective. second are our gladiators. the trid rank is the magi undead, and our archers..
During this time, I have one golem that and a necromancer that will be under the ground, planting small totemic devices, while we burn the cornfields down and pillage and loot. take no prisoners unless they are of some uniqueness. for example someone who runs that place or knows something of value. and then we'll probably kill them anyway.
And after this place is burned to a cinder, Zahara is going to bless teh ground, to prevent our undead enemy from using his powers to speed up regrowing and rebuilding."

"Or so you think anyway." she muttered softly but not loud enough for anyone to hear her.To them it sounded like idle mutterings and she made damn sure that her thoughts were guarded and Malik was too involved wiht Piper, both hands free before she said it. Anger was still her fondest emotion at the words Malik and Sevilin both had uttered earlier and she wasn't likely to let them go anytime soon. She had taken the clip back happily from Nym and reclipped her hair then taken to just watching him as he cleaned himself. He was so cute when he did that, seriously, ever want your cuteness factor to go off the charts, watch a furry little creature grooming himself. But she took back the sledgehammer she'd balanced precariously on Serino's back during her crisis and considered the plan. Not a bad one overall, but did she even want to cooperate?

"You are looking for statistics?" She grined a bit and chuckled. "Alright, the deal is sealed then. Bring me twenty pounds of food stuffs, and I will give you the odds. Is this satisfactory for you?"

"Oh...well good to know that you know what you're doing then." That was all she could really say, she was never one for war strategies. Her forte rested in her skill learned as her time as a thief mostly when it came to battle situations. Sneak till you're in a good position then surprise...it worked most of the time and made injury nothing too much to worry about. But again she contented herself for the time being playing with her bow.
Sevilin had gone back to that docile attitude...of course everyone knew that docile creatures could be the most deadly. It was always the dogs who had no courage that barked the loudest.
But he did consider Malik's plan. Hm...so that meant he'd be put to work right off the bat did it? Fine with him, he'd already worked his strategies, planned to project some tracking on a few, and just go about it as he always had, with the finesse of years of practice.

The plateu before the Lich's lair was eerily quiet. As if not a soul, not the dead nor the living, had been there or had ever been there. The high cliffs on either side created a limited battle ground. The right and left, the cliffs closed in. Behind, the way out and in front...nothing but more cliff face. A single door, old looking and brittle, barred the way. One needed to get through that door, and all that lay behind, to find the seemingly endless rows of corn. Corn that was at this point, ready to be harvested. Full grown and ready to fight soulless hung heavuly from the stalks.
That is of course, assuming one could get through the doors. Armies of souless, who wanted to suck the souls from the living, and enless undead, who wanted nothing more than to kill the living. Some haf weapons, some did not. The dead drow would not be found in the front lines.
Discordent holes if chaos where thrown about the place. One wrong step could find you on the other side of Labyrinth via sliding through an empty, invisible space that somehow did not exist. Giant jerhege hid themselves in coves and holes, ready to poince and swoop down. Not to the mention the magics of the lab coats and the Lich himself should the outside perimeters be breached.
For now, there seemed to be nothing. No one, not a thing to break that eery quiet. If one were to speak, they would soon find that their fellows could not here them. A scream would go unnoticed.
The silence dominated. Nothing could break it.
was that the ground trembling? Who knew. No one could here it. Perhaps that shaking ihn front of their vision was just their nevers.

Malik was quiet. silent as a corpse himself. he knew this was not the best idea, direct conflict was not really viable in this situation. the enemy had years, centuries, to grow armies. just becuase they only now knew about didn't mean production had just started.
Then they stopped, the whole group, dead in it's tracks, literally in some cases. and Malik got down, and helped Piper down as well without a word, walking in front of Nightmare, and patting her lightly.
"Nightmare.."
Oh you better not. Nightmare snorted and pawed the ground, kicking up flame. not a happy nightmare. she knew what he was going to ask and she didn't like it. not one bit.
"You already guess, I see. well. we need it done. a direct conflict only is not going to work here."
Tethering me in place and me making a fool of myself is hardly a good option for me. another indignant snort and pawing. oh she'd kill him. no more riding for you for a month.
One of the necromancers and a golem had already vanished, melding into the hungry earth to move under the groudn in teh Lich's domain, planting and activating the little totems. the moss, any plantlife, started to die. and the effect was cascading and reineofrcing, like a bunches of stones in a pond, the ripples of power, seemingly tiny in and of themselves, become potent as the totems were placed. not to mention things in teh underdark were attracted to the deathly or dying smells..the giant worms, hordes of carrion beetles, scarabs already moving. and woudl probably continue to head in that direction wether the totems lasted long or not.
Malik walked with the rest of them, Piper as well, leading Nightmare to a tunnel. they were in enemy territory for sure now, and that put everyone on high guard. there was a greenhouse gas smell in a tunnel and malik stopped them again, forming a perimiter around himself, Sevilin, Piper and Zahara. one Ogre grabbed Nightmare, facing her away from the opening but close to it.
"To grow things rapidly, one must use greenhouse enviroments. barrels and barrels of nitrogen enriched soils or magical equivilents. and all of that creates a dangerous amount of natural or mystical gases. nitrogen and sulfur and the like. which means you use benting, as not to kill the people tending them, or in this case, the things you grow. they are also flammable."
So a slap to Nightmares flank, and with a snort and a snap back at him, she started to run. runnign kicked up flames, but the ogre heled her at bay. the the flames didn't fade and die. Nightmare manufactured incinterator.
"Deal. anything in particular your looking for? Whirlwind? Oracle?"

Joy...horrible air. Though in her opinion Underdark air itself wasn't the best...but she had grown used it by this point in her little stay here. Otherwise there would be much more complaining on her part. Piper just follow Malik, eyes darting around a bit. For a moment she considered altering her vision to give her a better view but decided to hold off for a bit longer. Then a stop for Malik to do something or other, something probably protective. Oh poor nightmare. Mental note to spoil that horse even more when they all got back.
Sevilin was in back again, seemed he always liked to be last in the line of elves. And he didn't like too much that Malik was casting things but he decided not to gripe on it...meant less energy usage for him doing it himself. BEsides, Malik was a necromancer, let him have his fun. A raised eyebrow at the nightmare thing. "Ingenous, that's for sure."

"Oh yes."
How wonderfully splendid. You really think, after all my time, that could could come after me from underneath? Some of us don't need to learn from your mistakes.
Anything tunnleing through the ground met an end. Jus stopped, as if they never were. Except for the trails they left. Poison already in his ground did not bother him at all. The shaking ground shook a little harder.
Bugs? The lowest of the low, like myself. We call to each other, idiot. The scum of the underearth belong to me. Those collecting insects gathered, and waiting underground, some dying from poison, some not, some more than completely unharmed. Awaiting orders. Go head, call more with your little tricks. You only make my army grow.
What do you plan to do with that fire? Blast through my rock walls? No matter how hot your Nightmare is, it could never even heat my rockface. Something I molded myself would never be so fragile aginst someone of ...your...caliber.
Does my confidence surprise you? Does it anger? I find you amusing. Perhaps we should play before I kill you.
Does my clarity frighten you? Oh yes. It's easy to beat a mad man, isn't it, Shadow knight? I am not so delusional. I am quite sane, as you will see.
Very well. I will endure your vain attacks.
"Shell fish."
Whirlwind just smiled and shrugged.

Creepy atmostphere, seh kept a sharp lookout for any surprises along the way. She wasn't naive or stupid enough to believe that they were going to be able to waltz in and burn these fields without someone getting upset. Zahara wasn't happy about Malik using Nightmare the wya he was though she had to hand it to him that it was an intelligent use of the horses' abilities. She tightened her grip on her sledgehammer and raised an eyebrow at Sevilin's praise. Though she simply watched as Nightmare was held and continued to run. That was just mean, running her in place. "Should have found another way...he could have found another way," sh emuttered.
