Oh yeah starters
G1 - Charmander
G2 - Chikarita for silver and Totodile for Soul Silver
G3 - TORCHIK BISH ALWAYS
G4 - Chimchar and only because there was a limited number of fire types. I played it with piplup but then rerolled after I realized I was gonna get screwed with that.
Also, even though my favorite pokemon will always be Blaziken. I still love my Electivire (Which I nick named elekid360 biggrin )
And thats just because electivire was the first pokemon I ever fully EV trained. I EV trained for speed and that mofo was a freaking beast. I would go damn near entire battles without being hit with him. Miss you elekid360 T__T Wai oh wai did I have to loose my ds at the movies along with my beloved elekid360, blaze360, sp00ky360, Cr0cK360, ToSik360, and H3rbal360.

@den: Diamond/Pearl Ponytas are so bad though. They learn alot of moves later than their platinum and HG/SS counterparts, and they don't even get Flame Wheel. You get a measly ember at level 16, and stomp at 19... then firespin at 25, takedown at 28, and fire blast at 38?
Those moves are so laaaaaame, especially considering the levels!
Considering ponyta are the only fire types in the entire region except Chimchar, if you start without it, the game gets hard really quick, seeing as nearly every other gym leader is weak against fire, or is just generally easier having fire (3rd gym leader's lucario anyone?)

@ele - imo, Chimchar is just bad. When he evolves, the weaknesses he acquires make him all but useless for upper division fights. Fighting is a bad subtype to have. That being said, I played one...

I was trying to get a whole team together, but then I got lazy and decided to play other things (WoW, Ro, KH: Birth by sleep, FF tactics)

@pokemon convo: I've never EV trained, mainly because I haven't gotten to the endgame in Diamond or Soul Silver yet...

Did you read the post? It's actually not that bad, considering I slapped it together in about an hour without proof reading it. Also it will give you some insight as to why Kaji is as messed up as he is, he has nightmares about that night all the time, but never that bad. Yeah Kaji's gonna be a mess for a while after that one. Seriously that would like...traumatize a person irl if they remembered a dream like that in crystal clarity >.<
