So you know, when Cole gets into Tython space he will likely be greeted by the Mandolorian Commandos that occupy the orbital space station around Tython, and those will be what they would be meet by upon landing and as escorts instead of Republic troops or Jedi personal security.

Its an orbital station so it simply orbits around the planet in conjunction with the Jedi Temple making you have to pass by it to enter that section of the planet.

This is as close as I can find of what the orbital station looks like for the time being. After the 20th I can give you a much better image to work with. Just know its an orbital security station that monitors the in coming and out going traffic and check for clearance and authorization. During War times large ships have to land on the station and shuttle down to the planet so as not to bring a large ships fire power down to the planet without top level clearance.

Technically, the rank you're supposed to start out with (for the Republic) is Gunnery Sergeant, but Captain is still below the rank you would get bumped up to next, I believe, so you can keep the title, if you want. And, since you're already halfway there, you get the choice of having your own private squadron, that follows your orders (under the auspices of the Combined Defense Forces of the Republic, of course), or some kind of small capital ship.

For fighter choice, you basically get to choose anything from Y-wings, to X-wings, to B-wings, to A-wings, to E-wings, to anything, pretty much, not related to the Empire. There are a few exceptions, where the Jedi get some exclusive fighters, but nearly half of all of the canon fighters are yours to choose from. Oh, and "squadron" can run anywhere from 14 to 60, so you can be pretty flexible in how you RP missions with them.

The capital ships aren't very big. The biggest ship you can have at that rank is a heavy cruiser, which only runs about 700 meters long. The Assault Frigate Mark II is just as long, but it's not as well armed. The smallest ship, though, is the CR90 corvette, a familiar, iconic and versatile starship. As a Captain, though, I'd imagine you'd probably want to start yourself off with something more like a frigate, maybe a Lancer-class.
