Veiris found himself dodging a tornado of fire, diving away from the flames. He felt them graze his wings, catching the edges of his feathers. He yelped and yanked them in towards his body. Wings were not useful in small spaces.

By the time he recovered, Kira had vanished and reappeared. He stared at the fight realizing that this was nothing like the mages he had dealt with before. He knew he was out of his league here, but he still felt the urge to step in- to place himself between Claudette and Kira.

He tried once more, moving to stand in front of Claudette, wings out. "Thats enough," he said, trying to make his voice flat and calm. LIghtning crackled around his hands, but didn't moved far from his skin. His hair was now nearly gone, replaced by white and blue feathers that now reached down his neck and shoulders.

Claudette seems to be handy, so the red-haired woman reaches out and grabs one of her arms in a rather firm grip.

"Mind telling me what's going on here before you jump back into playing with the wind and fire?" she asks with mild amusement, yet not without a hint of authority in her tone.

She glances around the room at the people present, her eyes going so dark they are almost black. As she peers at the elves, a faint smirk grows on her face, and this continues on towards Kira as well. Then she looks over to Veiris and simply nods her head in acknowledgement. Turning her darkened gaze back to Claudette, she arches one of her eyebrows.

"Interesting. I'll have to ask you about that later."

Claudette flinched as the strange woman grabbed her. Her skin was bubbling up with bright red burns; pain seared through her skin, and she held back a whimper.

Kira wasted no time getting behind Claudette and Veiris and the strange woman. The tornadoes were converging, and Claudette pushed Veiris and the woman back away from the swirling flames. The heat was bearing down, and she breathed a shallow, resigned breath.

If this is how she dies, this is it. But she wouldn't let the other two be hurt by Kira. They weren't Kira's enemies; she was. The burns on her body were more painful from the heat, and she was feeling dizzy. She stumbled towards Kira.

The tornadoes burst, but instead of igniting everything, they dissolved, and it began to rain.

"I could have killed you, Claudette," Kira said, grinning. "But I didn't. Because I'm a kind person."

Claudette sank to the floor, feeling completely beat. Her burns were stinging from the rain. She felt a rush of gratitude towards Veiris for trying to defend her. Kira loomed over her, cackling.

"Nice try, birdman," Kira snapped. Why did he try to protect her?!

"I think you've confused 'kind' with something else, young lady. And, from the look of you, I don't think you're a likely candidate for the word," the red-haired 'warrior' states dryly. Still, she doesn't sound angry, or disdainful; she's simply stating a fact. Slowly her eyes go back to their original shade.

She had been about to act when Kira cancelled the magic. Still, she reaches towards Claudette and offers her a hand up. "It stings like hell, but you'll pull through," she says by way of encouragement. Well, maybe it's an attempt at encouragement; it's a little hard to tell since there's a hint of dry amusement in her tone.

Claudette gratefully took the woman's hand. Her head was still spinning, and she stumbled over to a table to sit back down. She was squinting; her head felt like it was going to split open, and her vision was going weird. She hadn't hit the ground that hard, did she? She was aching, burnt, dizzy, and overall upset.

"I don't think you have any room to talk," Kira said. "You know nothing about me."

"Just have a seat; a big part of dying is giving up," the strange red-head says to Claudette. Turning towards Kira, she looks the woman up and down. "Well, I know you do magic, which I saw when I walked in. I also know you've killed a lot of people, probably with that same magic. That part, however, is pure conjecture." She shrugs her shoulders easily. "Not that it matters exactly, but usually kindness and a penchant for killing don't get wrapped up in the same parcel, if you take my meaning." She smiles faintly. "Name's Mynoris, and if I'm not mistaken, I've fallen into some sort of universal pocket." It sounds as though she's familiar with such things at any rate.

Claudette ungracefully flopped into a chair. Heat was pulsing through her, and she was trying to squeeze out thoughts through her foggy brain. She laid her head down on the cold table, her cheek going numb from the sudden temperature change. Her stomach turned over; she was undoubtedly going to be sick. Trying to hold it back, she gagged, then let out a dry sob. She hadn't been injured that badly, had she? She put a hand to her aching head and was shocked to find a bump. She winced, then she lurched as her stomach turned back over. Her vision was a dark purple, and she closed her eyes, her breathing shallow. If the woman thought she was going to die, why couldn't it just happen already? She was in agony, sweating, yet freezing, head throbbing, and burns stinging.

"What's your point?" Kira snapped. She had made the tornadoes disappear, what more did this woman want? And Claudette.. It pained her to say it, but Claudette was dying according to the woman. Who else would she torment if Claudette was gone? No one else put up a fight the way she did, yet Kira couldn't bring herself to go near the girl.

"Kira," she said faintly as an introduction.

Actually, Mynoris didn't mean that at all, but she doesn't move to correct Kira's misconception.

"My point is simply that you didn't do what you did out of kindness. I can't guess what your motives might have been. As you said, I don't know you. I do, however, have a certain small degree of power myself that you might call magic. There is definitely an aura of death around you," she says by way of explanation. Tapping her rather buxom chest, she continues on to say, "Now, I don't care too much what happens to people in a general sense, but I do have an appreciation for honesty."

Without any further ceremony, she plunks herself down in a chair, laying her sword on the table beside her. Drawing another chair close, she props her booted feet up on them. "So, Kira, what kind of world are you from?" As if it was as common a question as asking what city someone is from.

Kira was annoyed. She didn't get to finish the tornadoes the way she wanted to. She didn't understand why Veiris got so protective of Claudette. She didn't get to intimidate Claudette and Veiris like she wanted to. All of this was spinning out of control, and Claudette being slumped over a table like some common alcoholic after a good bar fight definitely wasn't helping her mood.

Regardless, she watched the woman in front of her, not sitting down herself. She wasn't sure this was the kind of company she would like to keep.

"I'm from Earth," she said stiffly. "Does it matter?"

Svana and Baldur exchanged another look.

"It lasted more than ten seconds," he said.

"But not a minute."

"Call this a no-win? I keep my werewolf, you keep your orc."

They both nodded in agreement, setting back up now that no fire tornadoes were swirling, seeming more at ease in each other's company than before. Svana reasoned that it probably had to do with the familiarity. Everybody here was enormously different than what they were used to.

"I like to keep track of these sorts of things," Mynoris says off-handedly. "Let's just say I've traveled a fair bit." She shrugs at this. "No need to be sour about it."

Then she looks over to the pair of elves. "How about you two? What sort of place are you from?" While waiting for an answer, she pulls a dagger off the table. Wait, wasn't that a sword a few moments ago? Either way, she pulls off her boot and starts to pry out some loose stones from between the treads.

"Where we're from isn't your concern," Svana replied before Baldur could open his mouth to speak for himself. She wasn't sure she liked the interrogation. "Regardless, it's doubtful you would have heard about it, whether you lived in our world or not."

"I guess I'm fairly well homeless. Unless they win, of course," Baldur added with a shrug, nodding toward Svana.

Mynoris shrugs again. "All right," she says, easily enough, apparently not at all daunted that they are being close-lipped. "My home doesn't exist anymore either," she adds to Baldur. Satisfied that her first boot is stone-free, she starts to work on the other one. She finishes that one in half the time and pulls both of her boots back on. Wiping her blade on her leather skirt, she examines it critically for a few moments.

Kira growled at Mynoris and she said, barely maintaining her composure, "Why did you say that Claudette is dying?"

She pointed to the still-breathing Claudette, and although she was clearly still in agony, her face sweaty and pale and a noticeable bump on the top of her head, she was obviously not dying. She probably just had a concussion. Kira didn't want to admit that Mynoris had scared her with the possibility of Claudette's expiration; Claudette was going to be important to the Immortals one day. But she had panicked when Mynoris told Claudette to give up and die.

She wanted to heal Claudette, yet she didn't. She wanted to fight Mynoris, knowing full well the woman would have stepped in if Kira had done anything further. Plus, Kira recieved some uncomfortable and unsettling vibes from the woman, though she didn't quite understand why. Maybe it had something to do with that weird eye color change, but it definitely had to do with the false bad news. What was she playing at?

Kira stared at Svana and Baldur. Surely they would back her up on this? She was trying hard to rope in her want to destroy this woman. She didn't want to seem like she cared one way or the other about Claudette's life.
