Ares resisted the urge to just go over and do something cheesy. He blamed the music. It was too... perfect, that music was. It made him want to act like the main character of a bad romance flick. And he usually didn't like romance flicks because they were all the same: boy meets girl, girl and boy fall in love, insert problem here, insert solution there, and boom! You have your typical romance flick.
...Somehow, his life had just turned into a VERY typical romance flick.

Ever looked over at Ares and arched her eyebrow in confusion. "Ares? Hello? Is your mind going back to Mt. Olympus or something?"
Then, a knowing look came over her face and she scoffed slightly. "Ah. Nevermind. Not sure I want to know what... or who... you're thinking about."

Ares smiled at Evermore--actually smiled, not a smirk. A rather nostalgic look seemed to spread its way across his face. "You," he whispered. It was the single cheesiest, stupidest, possibly most romantic thing that he could say at the moment. But it was true. It was so very true.

Ever had been looking down at her lap, playing with the tie on her robe, but when she heard Ares' response, her head quickly turned in his direction and her eyes were wide with surprise.
"What?"

He continued to smiled, but it took on some of his characteristic qualities the longer it remained. "You heard me, Evermore. You." He pointed at her. Finally, he noticed that she'd put his locket on, and... it made him happy. He also couldn't help but feel somewhat possesive, as if that locket marked her as his. No one else's; just his, and his alone.

{{Song playing now: Broken Strings}} Ever continued to look at Ares in confusion, but now there was quite a bit of nervousness in her eyes as well. And then, she heard the song change on Clarissa's play list. It was now that duet that Ever usually loved so much. Right now, though, she wasn't paying too much attention to it. She quickly got up, swinging her legs over the bench's edge so that her robe didn't ride up. She got the towel to dry her hair again and started to towel dry her hair nervously. "I... I think it would be a good thing if you left now."

Ares shook his head. "Like hell I can just leave now." He was finally coming to terms with this silly emotions and feelings crap. He was the God of War! He wouldn't run from it. He strode up to her, and his eyes burned with a passion that was at the same time new and old, confused and certain. He leaned close. "I can't just go. I don't run; I'm not French."

Ever gasped softly at Ares' sudden change. It wasn't exactly bad... but she was so caught off guard by it. And his eyes held her in place. They were powerful and gazing straight into her.
Her towel had stopped moving in her hair. Her whole body had frozen, except for her eyes. They were blinking quite rapidly.
And then she finally found the ability to speak. Though, after she did speak, she wished she hadn't.
"The French?"
She almost wanted to close her eyes at the complete stupidity of what she said.

He chuckled. "Yes, my dear, the French. They are good for making food, drinking wine, and running away, but they suck at war." Trivial conversation. He continued to stare at her, his eyes into hers, half-smirk back in its rightful place on his lips.

Ever couldn't disagree with that. She couldn't disagree because she hadn't been alive long enough to visit France or meet any French people.
"Of course you'd only be focused on their war tactics..."
She tried to make it come out as a jab, but it was a weak delivery and her voice was very soft and wavered slightly. She hadn't moved an inch. She was staring at Ares, just as he still was with her.
"What?"

Ares leaned forward just that much more, just enough so that he wasn't quite touching her, so that there was still room between them--perhaps a grand. "Chocolate?" he asked, holding up a chocolate-covered strawberry between them.

Ever's breathing was becoming much more shallow and she was shaking just slightly. Nothing to be concerned about.
And then... Ares brought out chocolate. Chocolate.
Ever looked down at it in confusion. "What the hell?"
But she was hungry. She loved a snack before bed. So, she leaned down and took a small, cautious bite from the strawberry. She then pulled back and began to chew it. It was wonderful! The strawberry was so sweet, and the chocolate had to be the best she had ever tasted. Of course, should she expect anything less from a god?
As she swallowed, Ever noticed that her shivering had stopped and she felt more relaxed now. She licked her lips quickly and nodded her head. "Wow. That was actually really good."

Ares had chuckled at her initial response, but he was pleased that she liked the strawberry. He'd known, of course, that it would be delicious, but he liked to hear that she liked it. "Good." She was relaxing, now, too. She looked less like a scared bunny and more like a normal girl. He conjured up a whole plate, holding them in his other hand expertly, almost like a waiter.
But he was one damn sexy waiter. "More, milady?" he asked, with joking intentions.

Ever's eyes widened and she actually smiled, too. She nodded and reached her hand up to grab a strawberry.
"Yes, please!" She took a bit of the strawberry in her hand and closed her eyes and sighed. When the bite was finished, she opened her eyes and looked down at the strawberry.
"Where do you get these, Ares? They're amazing." She brought the strawberry up to her lips and took another bite, a slow one this time so that she could truly savor it. She also made sure to keep her eyes closed because a person's sense of taste was enhanced when their eyes were closed.

Ares smirked fully. "Of course they are. They're the best of the world. It's one of those god-tricks you probably haven't learned yet. If you conjure food, unless you don't care how it tastes, it's always sure to be the best there is." Heck, if she wanted to eat Dodo bird, she could. Anything was allowable, conjurable.
"Y'know," he said, casually, "chocolate and strawberries both enhance one's libido." He then took a strawberry for himself, taking a large bite.
