@sunset: no we haven't been hit by any tornado's here yet. I'm up in southeastern Wisconsin btw, theres a lot of tornado watch's and warnings but the particular area i'm in almost never see's actual tornado touchdowns. Bitter cold winter's and hot and humid summer's are the extent of the bad weather we get frequently. Oh and i do not store food or emergency supplies under my bed or anywhere else in the house (except one emergency bag under the chaise lounge in my room) If we're not careful half of our basement will become food storage though lol.

@ Vanilla: I'm so sorry. There are no words to make you feel better. My brother died much too young, too. I still miss him.
.

Aye, thank you. And I'm sorry to hear about your brother. The world can be a sad place.

Today I got off of my lazy butt and applied for my first job. biggrin
PostPosted: Fri Apr 15, 2011 9:34 pm

Got home from work ate a sandwhich, watched some youtube video's and did some math regarding my money.

Getting the current number of hours i'm getting at work as long as it stays this way i'll have enough money to fix my truck/register it/insure it right around the middle of May. Then it needs a plow and a winch and an offroad suspension and tires. (way down the line) and i'll be set for pretty much anything. Oh and i gotta get my sister some birthday presents and start planning for my moms birthday. I'd love to have my company up and running and gift her a job...maybe.

Feels good to see the bright side slowly flipping my way. I think after that its new job time even if i take a pay cut...something with less killing myself and more regular hours...8-4pm or something.
Instead of the current 9am-5pm followed by 10pm to 6am followed by 6pm to 2 am followed by 2pm to 10 pm followed by 9am-5pm again. Seriously what kind of company makes their employee's do that crap?

@vanilla: Very sorry for your loss..i know it doesn't help to hear that from a stranger but stay strong and you'll be fine.

@bear: what kind of job did you choose for your first venture into employment?

Anyways its time to go pass out so i can get tomorrow over with. Totally looking forward to making a gigantic batch of gumbo on Sunday with my friend.

@Teh_plague Well I wanted to get a job at this new ice cream store about 1/3 of a mile north of my house, but I was a day too late to apply and the job was already taken, so I had to go apply at a new Menards that is being built in my town.. ._.

@Teh_Plague: Thank you. Even if you guys are just strangers, it really feels good to know that people still have compassion for their fellow in this day and age. What type of job do you do that they're working you so hard, if you don;t mind me asking?

@Strega: YAY! That's so exciting, I hope you'll post pics when you get them. My little chicks are getting bigger and fluffier by the day. I took them out to play in the yard since the dog was in the house today. They had so much fun scratching around in the grass and dust bathing in the sand. I ended up with two very happy, very dirty chicks.

@vanilla: I'm just a stocker at a grocery store lol. From what i've heard though most store's don't work their stocker's this hard the average store has like 6 stockers for their grocery department, my store has 3 and we all work in multiple departments and stupid shifts lol.

@bear: Hardware stores aren't that bad i actually enjoy wandering around them thinking about stuff i could build. Beware of teenagers buying lots of pvc pipe and grill ignitors...they are up to no good building potato cannons (or maybe its not that common and me and my friends just had nothing better to do when we were younger)

Ooh, at least you're not a cashier though right? Talk about the most excruciatingly boring job ever. -shudders-

Speaking of jobs everyone I applied at the zoo down the street from my house, wish me luck.

Today is gumbo day. When my friend gets out of work he's coming over and we are making a big giant batch of gumbo for dinner. Other than that i'm just relaxing today.

@vanilla: technically i'm not a cashier but i've done cashiering when we get really swamped with customers. I've also done a lot of managers jobs such as ordering product and taking customer orders for delivery's. I even work in the shipping and receiving area once and a while. Just about the only thing i don't do is working in the deli, bakery, and meat department. I wouldn't mind working in the meat department or bakery though i've cut up enough steaks and butchered a few cuts of meat to be comfortable with it and i've baked a lot of bread in the last few years lol.

Vanilla: I am so sorry for your loss.

So I have been putting together a presentation about groundwater contamintation. At first I thought it would be too short...now I am worried that it is going to be too long. sweatdrop

Today I made a smoothie that required spinach and coconut oil as its two main ingredients. And it is fantastic

Worked third shift last night so i'm still up and going.
edit: car crisis averted she ran over a 3 foot long stick and it got jammed up in the wheel and the brakes somehow...yay its not a real problem just a stupid problem. Now my day is much less eventful and i'm just going to go pass out for a few hours since i've been up for 23 hours now.

What's everybody else up to?

Planted potatoes and peas yesterday. I hope they don't get flooded out, we've already had rain and the next 6 days have rain/severe weather in the forecast. I love storms, but they do come with their own problems! Wind tried to take off the porch roof a couple of days ago (we've rebuilt that porch 3 times) so last night's rain had water pouring down the windows on the INSIDE. My husband was out working on that in the dark. Hopefully the rain will stay OUTSIDE now.

Spent the past hour with part of the fire department checking the house----I saw a flash, with no storms in the area, and the ceiling in one room was getting hot! Called the fire department, turned off the main breaker, and spent about 40 minutes checking things out with them when they got here. No fire, it's a mystery what happened. It's already so wet that the trucks couldn't come all the way down the road, so even if there had been a fire, they couldn't have helped. It's an adventure out here sometimes, but I love the country! One of the young firefighters said, "It's wonderful out here." Absolutely.
