I only know one Lindsay ... she's very nice.

You could always introduce yourself as Jade to new people. ;D

There were five other Lindsay's (and various bastardizations of the spelling) in my grade in elementary. They all sucked.

And if I did that, I'd keep wondering who the ******** Jade was. I'm too used to it, now, like it or not.

I think Lindsay is a beautiful name, but holy s**t Jade is the PERFECT name for you.

...My middle name means jade, but it's not pretty-sounding. Dx

That it does. You could always change you name Pyre. wink

Even with this comic I still can't get my head wrapped around the 'NG'. Dx

I can see how you don't like you middle name though.

So today's topic is names?
I was named after my dad (first) and grandpa (middle). And my first and middle names sorta rhyme. :/
Shawna isn't very common here, but it's not difficult. Shouldn't be, anyway. I've had more than one person pronounce it ShawAna and one person spell it that way. D:

Unrelatedly I hate limits and the people directly above me.

For all you miserable folks who think your name is "too common," just move to a different country where your name won't be common. You'll get all the same oooohs and ahhhs as the people who have "uncommon" names where you currently live.

Nobody chooses their name when they're born and I'm sure all the other Toms, Lindsays, Pierres, Joses, Vladimirs, Phuongs and Mitsukos in the world are thinking the same thing: "popular name." Parents choose names because they like them and it means something to them, not because they didn't put any thought into it. xP

P.S. I was playing Geo Challenge on Facebook, and there's a guy named Aldo on the world leaderboard!

If you can't pronounce "Frank", I think you don't speak English, or you are very special...
PostPosted: Thu Dec 11, 2008 1:27 am

Ha, I just realized how mean my last post sounded. XD

What I was trying to say was, you guys all have beautiful names, common/uncommon is relative and overrated, and all names have personal meanings and unique stories behind them.

By the way Frank, I couldn't find "free man" in Japanese. :[
I'm sure it's out there somewhere...

I had a very successful shopping run on iTunes tonight, complete with sushi for dinner, an ice cream sandwich and a certain cutie waddling between his desk, the kitchen, and the bed I'm nestled on. He fed me clementines and popcorn. I am watching him play video games right now. Tonight has been perfect. x3

UHM. I hate my bangs, and I know it's pretty much my fault, but that doesn't stop me from hating them. And I wanna smoke again so badly.

It's a geography game with three sections testing your knowledge on country flags, country shapes (ugh, the hardest one IMO!) and then pinpointing cities on a world map. It's fun!

It's by Playfish, the same people who made Word Challenge and Who Has the Biggest Brain? and other Facebook games that make you feel simultaneously smart and inadequate.

Simone is a pretty name. Like Simone Simons. <.<

And Jesus Christ, don't get me started on bangs. Every summer during high school I would try to grow them out... and every fall my mom would more or less tie me to the chair to have them cut because I "looked like a dog." ARGH! When I went to college, she couldn't force me to get a haircut, so I finally grew them out. But all of my yearbook photos and everything are those stupid bangs.

Cute at 3:

Not so cute at 17:

Thank you, Jesus!:

See how much better that looks? And I wasn't even all made up like for senior photos. Bangs do not look good with my face shape. LEAST OF ALL, 80's MALL BANGS. My grandma started cutting them with a razor because she thought the straight look was "too childish." GODAMMIT, why not consult ME about this s**t? I thought my hair just turned wavy all of a sudden and THAT'S why they looked ******** dumb.

/sad puppy. I thought it would be about geography instead of topography.

Still gonna play it, though. pirate

*edit: aww man, one of my fellow students has a 18k score. I didn't get higher than 9.4k.

The only time I don't like my name is when I meet people who are way too fond of Forrest Gump. Ugh.

...it's kind of strange, because none of my friends down here call me Jenny - everyone calls me Jen, because I introduced myself as Jennifer and they all automatically shortened it.

Bleeeegh my tonsils hurt. x.x I wonder if I need to get them taken out like the guy from work was saying...good lord I hope not.

Haha. Sorry, I am stupid with vocab and didn't realize the difference. x3

9.4K is damn impressive for someone who just started playing like an hour ago.

A friend and I have been competing at it for about two weeks. I'm at 25K and he just pulled ahead to 30K. I don't know if I can catch him. t____t (Though I DO play with my trackpad instead of a mouse or tablet at a desk, so I wonder if the right tools would make a difference. Though probably not.)

Then again, we are both unemployed nerds who graduated with creative degrees, so we have time for this s**t.

Why is nighttime so short on zOMG? What have they done to you, GST? Cut you into quarters, now? Godammit, what happened to the map on the site where you could see what "time" it was? And if you changed it, ******** tell us!

As it is... night is too godamned short. By the time I get where I am going, it's over! And the water spouts would not even spawn for me "tonight." The one time I get Gold Beach to spawn with minimal lag at "night" AND find a farming crew, and the bitches just up and disappear! I'm never going to get a 500 kill badge for them, much less the 5000.

I study geography, so I have an advantage.

Not that we have to know all countries/cities or anything, but through my learning I picked up some things.
