Colonel Iyam A Heita Sigil Warden The execution? I've been cool about everything except the chains issue. A bunch of people came in to s**t talk me out of the blue, like Fierach's crabs or some s**t, for no reason. Ok let me ask you this then... When did you realize your character was OP? Was it while you were making her skill set? or was it when you realized the skill sets of the other participants? follow-up question... Now that you have you realized the character is OP, what are you it's creator doing currently to fix that problem? I was aware that her skills complemented each other in a way that made them, as a whole, very effective in taking out an opponent. What I didn't know was that the majority of the other participants were not entered at the same power level. It ultimately makes little difference, though, because the power of an ability seems to be irrelevant, given that a) my opponents have thus far tried every excuse in the book to avoid them, regardless of what it is, and b) even the judge that accepted the profile overrrules the wording he accepted as okay to my disadvantage during a fight. Axes don't cause minor scratches, and you can't dodge a projectile the size of a volleyball from 2 inches away by falling backward. And yet I took this all in stride. Forgive me for getting a little mad though, when I am told something is fine and then the great Indian Giver goes "Actually yeah, no, ******** that noise" and defangs what I expected to be a trump card. As for what I am going to do about it... well... nothing. The character is older than my time on Gaia for sure, and her powerset was scaled down considerably for this tournament to begin with. If I were to enter her elsewhere, all that is really needed is for there to be a better explanation of what's fine and what isn't.

@ Hael I'm not familiar with Ryugi so you're going to have to explain a bit better.

Dear Princess Molestia Your mistake is assuming that I'm emotional about this. Sometimes? Maybe, but that's usually only when there's a personal attack that goes beyond whatever was actually being talked about. But most of the time? No, not at all. See, I'm not even writing this in a way that could come off as emotional. Talking down to you? Yes, that's my intent. But as if I were mad? No, not at all. Then again, you're somebody who's followed my posts for all of a week trying to determine what my defense mechanisms are and s**t. It doesn't work like that online. But you're entitled to your (wrong)opinion. No matter what I say you're going to assume that you know me better than I do. ... and now you are lashing out. I say again it isn't my intention to RILE YOU UP... Just playing Sieg in Sieg's absence...cause this thread needs a Sieg at all times on staff. As for my observations, I just pointed something out to you because of your initial quote of what Darth said. I took that to mean that you were explaining/justifying why you are the way you are. I was merely trying to help you understand that based on the general consensus I have been reading on you for well over a week...what you think to be the problem is not infact the problem. but since you wanna act like a complete and utter pms-ing b***h... I'm done trying to help you make friends.

Presentation does affect credibility (in public speaking, anyways), but on the internet it should always be taken with a grain of salt because most people tend to phrase things differently when talking online, and because inflection and body language don't come across.

Thanks for soliciting advice that was never asked for.

Here is some advice from someone who fared a similar at a "more credible" event. Balance the character to the game you are involved in currently from an OOC perspective. What I mean by this is... allow for loldodges to occur and adapt to it. Find another way to get your win besides the obvious method of beating the guy you are fighting. It sounds asinine but these tournaments aren't currently structured for competition. They are reading comprehension and creative writing test. If they were the former Tres would've have won versus KB because he killed his opponent, or at the very least they both should've been DQ' d. Think of it in that regard and actually landing your attacks won't seem so crucial anymore.

tl;dr being good is in the RP and not the profile
That being said Fierach doesn't really "sell" anything, ever. LOL. I know how frustrating it can be. But hey, that's life. Some people RP that way.

I don't need help making friends! I'm friends with 1 person in this tournament!
Now I'm going to show up and complain every day about how the other 31 entrants don't get along with me!
Waaaaaaah!

Hey, I beat Fie twice.
Admittedly, he and I knew each other well enough before both encounters to know to what degree we could/couldn't sell certain things.
But that's what communication is for.

Thing is, if you read the fight minus the necessary technical detail, the RP is there. I try my absolute best to make my posts enjoyable to read and to bring my character's thoughts, actions, and attitude to life. I even try to give credit where credit is due to the opponent if I feel like they've outwitted the character (not necessarily me the player, but the character).
I've kept my beef out of my IC entirely, and so really all that is left is trying to actually do some damage (this is a fighting tournament, right?), and that simply is not coming through.

Youza dumbass nerd 4 real. -C walks out- That's like asking why I go to the arcade and the gym. I don't go there to make friends. That's not my primary goal. If I meet people there that I find that I want to be friends with, that's cool, but I'm here to play my character. Just because I don't want to be your friend doesn't mean I can't get along with you. Despite how much you assume based on what little you know about me, there aren't many RPers who are willing to compromise and work with someone as much as I am. You said you've been following my posts so I don't need to relist some of those instances. See, I value my friendships, not everyone is going to be my friend. Most people aren't. I don't want to be your friend. If you can't understand how I think, or if you can't accept how I talk, why the ******** do I want to be your friend? And what's wrong for me being on the site and participating in a "nerdy" hobby without the goal of making tons of fake friends to kill fake dragons with? So what you're doing right now is telling me how I view things is wrong, which is what you say I do, but it's ok for you to do it because you're not me. Simply put, you're a jackass who isn't worth my time. Which makes you normal. Now, go ahead and read into this as lashing, or me being mad, or a defense mechanism when all it is is me explaining to you in the simplest way I can why I don't give a ******** about what you think.
