Daiguren looked up as several injured beings came through the doors, on of which he remembered from times before. Holding the drink in hand he turned his back to the bar looking out into the club.

Veroen was in the room by himself in the back area, sitting on a metal folding chair, leaning on his knees, for about an hour before he finally got up, after realizing the pain had subsided. He went to the mirror, looked at his face, and unpeeled the cloth bandage that was over his now empty eye socket. He looked at it, with a pissed off look on his face.

His thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door. He stopped and listened.

There was a husky voise that came from the other side, Veroen recognized him to be one of the lackeys that let him into the back area of the club. "Uh, sir, do you need any help in there?" Veroen was silent for a moment, before deciding that there was something that the guard could do.

Veroen walked over to the door, and opened it, and looked at the guard, who's eyes slightly widened by his exposed eyesocket.

Veroen said, "Yes, you can get me a selection of things that i can use to cover THIS." Veroen said, emphasizing the last word as he pointed at his exposed eyesocket.

The guard stuttered and said, "Y-Yes sir. Right away."
Veroen shut the door in the guards face, and went back to the mirror to look at what was once his eye. Angry, he clenched his teeth, and slammed his fist into the counter, breaking it.

He said nthing, and went back and sat in the chair once more, and waited a few minutes before there was another knock on the door.

Veroen rose up and went to the door, and opened it. The guard was standing there with an assortment of eye patches, each in different colors, all in an opened suitcase. Veroen snatched the suitcase, and muttered "thanks", before slamming the door in the guards face, again.

He went over to the table next to his chair, and chose a deep black eyepatch, that looked average, but Veroen somewhat liked it. It was hard to like anything when you just lost one of the most important organs in your body, which was also the most crucial to being an assassin. He thought about this as he put on the eye patch, and looked in the mirror. He would not be able to spot things as easily now...

He realized this, then smashed the mirror with his hands, and let out a growl, with his teeth clenched. The was another knock on the door, and Veroen opened it, and without letting the guard speak, he exited the room, and walked past the guard and down the stairs. he looked at his own trail of blood that he had left an hour earlier, and shook his head in disgust and anger. He got to the door that led to the lobby of the club, and presssed a button on the wall, causing the door to slide open. The other guard silently nodded at Veroen.

Veroen walked past him without a word, and went into the lobby, and stopped whenever he smelt Lily. He quickly scanned the area with the one eye he had left, feeling the uncomortable eyepatch against his face. He stopped whenever he spotted Lily, and his eye narrowed, and his teeth clenched in anger. He then turned and kept walking. He passed Daiguren, and slightly nodded to him, without a word.

Once he reached the door, making sure he wasnt being followed by lily, whom he now was disgusted with, he noticed Meredith being held by the neck by the bouncer. His face turned angry, as he looked around to make sure no one was close enough to see anything.

He appeared behind the guard, and looked at Meredith with his eye, the other replaced by an eyepatch, and then back to the back of the guards head. He slapped his hand on the guards shoulder, and turned him around with force, causing the guard to drop Meredith. Veroen then grabbed the guard by the neck and lifted him in the air, an angry look on his face.

"If you lay one more finger on her, I will cut out one of your eyes to replace mine." Veroen said with a cold, heartless voice. Veroen looked at him for a second, before adding, "ARE WE CLEAR?" Veroen finished with a snarl. The guard eyed his eyepatch, and then his good eye, before silently nodding and saying, "Yes sir."

Veroen dropped him, and said, "Now go and do your job, before I find someone to replace you. NOW." Veroen said, shouting the last word. the guard quickly got up and went back to the entrance, and avoided looking at Veroen. Veroen then turned to Meredith, and said, "Are you ok?" His angry look now gone.

Veroen's force to the guard's shoulder certainly worked to cause the guard to drop her and she landed harmlessly on her feet seeing as though she was fairly tall (5'11'') and he'd been holding her by her coat collar. It was probably a very lucky thing her coat hadn't ripped but upon hearing Veroen's voice defending her she all but forgot about her coat. And as opposed to her typical indignance when someone bothered to help her out there was visible relief that he was there. She was definitely smiling on the inside and the tired Eden on the outside's lips were subtlely uplifing in the corners. Of course, she didn't notice her smile on the outisde but she certainly did know and recall the fluttery, happying feeling of having someone there for her that was currently on the inside.

When he came over to ask her if she was okay her hazel eyes instantly glued to his eye patch and her gloved fingers gently reached out to brush across his eye patch. While touching the eyepatch, clearly forgetting to be hesitant about it or that he likely would not appreciate being touched there because of her regret and shock at what had happened to him. It was somewhat disquieting to be reminded that even immortals could be harmed if hit in the correct place under the correct circumstances but more to the point was what Veroen had lost because of her. What he'd lost was detrimental to being an assassin and it was completely and totally her fault even if her involvement was only indirect.

"I'm fine ... What about you, though? There was so much blood. I've never seen one of you bleed so much ... It's my fault this happened. There were so many thing I could have done or not done to prevent this ... ******** I can't do anything right! How am I supposed to raise a ******** kid if I can't do anything right?! Damnit!"

As she grew angry with herself she punched a wall but her words had been just as vital and important. The undertone in her voice couldn't help but be lined with the fact that she'd been worried about him and that she also felt this was her fault. Her hazel eyes stared guilt-ridden into Veroen's now single eye briefly before she sank to her knees and began sobbing in frustration, fear, regret, sympathy, guilt and more. She covered her eyes with her hands as she became overwhelmed by everything that'd happened so far. She didn't know how to calm herself down or how to handle all of this, any of this and she was snapping at the seams and coming apart as fast as the events that were causing her this misery seemed to shoot by her. Everything was just too hard and she didn't know what to do.

Lily sighed when Veroen passed her, she'd never get him back. Her anger and somewhat bipolar tendencies had once again ruined anything good in her "life".

She sat in silence and sipped at the bottle, not even bothering to acknowledge the glass with ice sitting beside it.

How could I let this happen?... She thought to herself while taking a drag from her cigarette. She was contemplating on whether this place was for her or not. She couldn't make it in the coven, her only "friends" were Veroen and Rogue.

She downed the rest of her drink and walked out the door, she noted the guard with the woman's neck in his hands. She had saved her tonight, Lily should return the favor. She continued to walk down the sidewalk when she saw Veroen taking care of it.

She bit her lip to hold back tears when she thought about how he had done that for her. She thought that she had been one of the very few women that he would open up to, if not the only.

She walked out of sight and crouched in a dark alley and let her emotions run over her. If it weren't for the comotion infront of the bar they would have heard her cries. Lily let it out for a moment and picked herself back up.

This had happened so many times, so many ways, with so many men. Maybe love was just a pleasure that died many years ago. The common factor in all of this was her, she needed to change...she just didn't know if she could.

Veroen quietly did nothing, nor did he change his gaze as she touched his newly aquired eye patch. He did nothing at all. If it were anyone else, however, he would have probably choke slammed them into the concrete ground out of anger. But he was calm, getting calmer by the moment as she spoke to him. once she finished, Veroen's eye quickly began to show concern for the girl, for she seemed to always blame herself for things that she didn't do.

Veroen then thought about that for a half second, realizing that he too, seemed to be that way. 'Interesting...' he thought to himself.

Before he could reply to her statement, and somehow make her think differently about it, she broke down, and began to bawl her eyes out, falling to the ground. However, Veroen quickly caught her, for his skills as an assassin still were sharp and quick, before she could fall to the ground, and held her up by her shoulders, but did nothing more than embrace her in his arms, hugging her tightly, but minding that her body was not as sturdy as a vampires, so it seemed like he was hugging her with the intensity of a human male. He was taken by surprise by breakdown she seemed to have started going through. He wanted nothing more than to be able to comfort her, and make her feel much better than she felt at the moment. He began to softly whisper in her ear, trying to ressure her that this was not her fault.

"You didn't do this, she did..." Veroen whispered with a pause, then continued, "and none of that was your fault. I chose to come after you instead of staying with her, I chose to apologize to you, I chose this. Don't blame yourself for my decisions, Edith..." Veroen whispered smoothly into her ear, his voice now full of care. "and i think you would make a great mother, because you are full of so much care. I firmly believe that." Veroen whispered that statement in her ear, now rubbing the back of her head, trying to soothe her from her pain.

He indeed began to realize, that he had really began to develope serious feelings for this girl, this human, and it was clear that he would always want to protect her, and take care of her, in whatever way he possibly could. He began to process these thoughts in his head as he continued to soothe her and calm her down with his sincere words.

Meredith wanted nothing more in that moment than to stop crying, especially in front of someone who didn't need to put up with even more of her bullshit that she kept getting herself into. The last thing she wanted to do was to make him sad and miserable like she was and she saw herself coming inbetween him and Lily and she'd hurt them both. However, while Veroen's words helped to comfort them she knew the bottom line of it all. If she hadn't been there then he never would have had to make the decision that had now lost him his apartment, that had lost him his eye, that had lost him Lily. She couldn't possibly believe that he would have willingly gone through all of this just to say sorry to her and yet that was exactly what he'd done and she couldn't be more grateful and more guilty in the same moment.

"Veroen ... you're ridiculous ..." She started laughing though the tears were still freely flowing as she squeezed him back into her own hug. It was clear she was a lot stronger than a typical human since her grip was vice. "I'm not worth what you've lost because of your decision ..."

She couldn't quite wrap her head around how much Veroen had gone through just to be there for her and protect her. He protected her when he didn't even have to, when he'd benefit absolutely nothing from it and though she'd thought he was gone forever here he was still following along behind her even after all the bumps she'd dragged him over. Of course she'd never ask or expect this of him and that was why this had surprised her but what surprised her more was what it must have meant. She certainly wasn't bold enough to put her heart out on the line again and ask him if it did but if her heart was certainly beating rapidly at her realization. She loved him. For him, for what he'd done for her, for everything he'd done from simply spending a bit of time with her to his grin that sometimes annoyed her and other times beguiled her.

Her heart was accelerating but she pretended not to take notice of the fact and she simply laid her head on his shoulder and fell silent. She closed her eyes and her nose was mere millimeters away from touching the nape of his neck and her warm breath gently spanned across it as her heart continued to thunder. However, aside from those two clear indications of life she was completely still as she simply stood there with her head on his shoulder, her arms wrapped around him. Something about her was oddly serene, tranquil and yet nothing had changed. Nothing in her life had changed and yet she was able to calm down and simply stand here as if nothing had just happened or nothing had ever happened to her.

Veroen silently smiled at the corner of his mouth as she told him that he was ridiculous, still holding onto her, which quickly turned into a mutual embrace. He felt a warm sensation on his neck, as he to, emraced her in his arms. The moment began to seem like it could last forever, and in Veroen's eyes, it could. He did not move, and was as still as stone, enjoying the moment.

Once he hear her say that she wasn't worth what he had lost, he disagreed in his head. She was wrong. Way wrong. Veroen couldn't quite put his finger on it before, when he would always stand up for her, and protect her the best he could. He could never figure out why he would always have the urge to stop any harm from coming to her, just like what happened in the tunnels, for instance. It was out of pure reflex that he did that, and for the longest time, since he had returned, he could not figure out why he would do so. Now, as he stood there with her, embracing her, feeling her heightened heartbeat, and feeling her warmth against his cold lifeless skin, he became more and more and more positive that it was because of love.

He smiled at this thought, and then whispered his comeback into her ear.

"You're worth everthing."

He then smiled again, enjoying the moments that they stayed like this.
PostPosted: Thu Jan 29, 2009 2:14 pm

When he whispered that she was worth everything her brow furrowed in disbelief and she figured that she'd misheard or that he was possibly being sarcastic and that the whisper hadn't tipped her off to his sarcasm. Her head slowly left his shoulder so that her hazel eyes could look into Veroen's crimson one. Her eyes were filled with a mixture of disbelief and confusement and they were clearly seeking Veroen's eye for confirmation though she planned to ask him verbally as well. Of course she didn't want to get her hopes up but her heart beat increasing even more so betrayed the fact that she actually had heard correctly though her mind put up its barrier and told her that she'd misheard and not to be disappointed, to expect that she'd misheard.

"E-excuse me ... ?"

Her voice was trembling with her disbelief and it was clear that she didn't believe what she'd heard because she'd convinced herself it couldn't be true. Someone like her, a hunter that was pregnant with a lycan's child that pushed everyone away from her couldn't possibly be worth everything to a vampire of his stature. Veroen had been more than clearly disappointed by the news that she was pregnant with a lycan child no less. He hunted lycans, lycans were the main enemy of his coven and he'd been the best of friends with Alasdair whom was very closely connected to Rogue; the same Rogue that she'd attacked at this very establishment that hated her. She couldn't have possibly heard him correctly.

Veroen felt her heart skip a beat, most likely from disbelief. Veroen chuckled in his head at her disbelief. She then moved her head in front of his, and stuttered out the words, 'E-excuse me...?'

Veroen looked at her eyes with his single one, and repeated what he said with a sincere smile.

"You're worth everything to me...." Veroen whispered again, adding two words to the phrase that had her stuttering and trembling.

He stared at her eyes, slightly unsure what her reaction to this would be. To him, nothing else mattered. The lycan baby growing inside her, the confrontation between her and Rogue, his elder, and the fact that she was human, meant nothing to him, while she meant everything to him.

He felt a strong urge to press his cold lips against her warm lips.
PostPosted: Thu Jan 29, 2009 2:47 pm

His smile managed to comfort her and while his words warmed her heart and seemed to instantly fix it there was also fear that crossed her hazel eyes, the fear of being hurt again. Was letting him this close really a good idea? Would he grow tired of her? Perhaps he was just telling himself this because he was lonely because Lily and him hadn't worked ... No, that couldn't be it because he would have been with Lily now if he'd wanted to be with Lily as opposed to her. Something had to be going through his mind, something that was misleading his heart about her because this just wasn't right, it couldn't be. Things didn't just ... People didn't ... vampires didn't ... Veroen couldn't ... love her?

"I-I think I l- ..."

Meredith couldn't finish her sentence, she was too afraid to. All the hurt that she'd been through and if she finished this sentence then Veroen would be able to deal the same catastrophic damage to her, not that he already couldn't but he didn't know it. He was willing to protect her for no reason, willing to give up so much he had but her mind's barrier still urged her to doubt him, that he was tricking her for some reason. Of course, Edith's heart wasn't listening and thus her inner conflict had been launched into motion. Did he really love her? Would he try to kill her like Tokeru had? Would he go insane like Reno had if she told him that she couldn't be with him? Would he cheat on her like Greg had? Would he disappear like Julian had?

Instead of finishing her sentence she began sobbing again, hugging him closer to her, clearly uncertain what to make of anything, clearly afraid after everything that she'd already been through. How was she supposed to know if this would work out? Was she supposed to take another chance and see where it went? It was her decision, of course but she didn't know what to choose.

Was Veroen worth the risk? Yes.

Did she want to be hurt again? No.

What was the chance that Veroen would hurt her? Undetermined.

Could she bring herself to trust him? Undetermined.

Could she forsee a future with him? Yes.

Did she love him? Yes.

"I don't know ... I don't know ... Veroen ... I ... can't. I don't. I can. I'm lost, I'm afraid. What do I do?"

Veroen smiled at her once more, for reason's that he could not determine, although knowing that it was for good reasons. His face seemed to lighten up at her reactions, knowing what she was feeling. Veroen didn't get the chance to tell her, but he was also very understanding.

He stared at her face, feeling the intesity of the moment as it progressed.

He sighed for a moment, and closed his eye, before thinking about what to say to that. He understood her pain, he understood her fear, and he understood her uncertainty. He then opened it and looked her in the eye, and replied to her statement, knowing it was the right answer.

"Do what you, and your heart, feel is the right thing to do for yourself..." Veroen replied, hoping that she would choose the answer he wanted to hear.
PostPosted: Thu Jan 29, 2009 3:25 pm

The barrier in her mind wasn't willing to give her a definite go on this while her pounding heart insisted she gave him a chance, he hadn't let her down yet and she felt she could trust him. Then again she'd been lead astray by her heart before, after all, Tokeru and many others had ended up miserably failing her and crushing her all in one. This was a harder decision for her, a decision that'd grown harder and harder each time someone came into her life and made her believe she was worth something, that she was special. How many people had come and gone that had told her that they loved her? What'd happened? Had they simply fallen out of love with her? Had they been lying to her to use her and get to her? Did they wish to make her miserable? She didn't have the answers to those questions just like she didn't have the answer to Veroen's unspoken one.

"I ..."

It made her angry that she couldn't just trust him like she had the people she'd fallen in love with before. She'd been kicked one too many times to the point she wasn't sure what she wanted or what was right for her. What a person said one day could easily change tomorrow and yet Veroen hadn't said anything to her until this point ... he'd shown her. Did this make things different? Was this a good sign? A bad one? There were so many questions she could ask that would never get an answer until time passed by but every moment she stood here struggling to think was another one lost. Yet she knew Veroen would wait and that he would not pressure her into anything.

She wrapped her arms around him tightly and squeezed with all her might, soft tears still spilling from her uncertain and torn hazel eyes. She buried her face in his chest for a moment and then came to look at him with her eyes, meeting his gaze, the most visual reminder of what he'd done for her ... She'd made up her mind, she knew what she wanted or rather, who. How could she pass up such a rare and delicate person such as him? Someone selfless enough to protect another though it'd be no benefit to them whatsoever, someone who'd come close to killing her but had stopped himself, someone who cared about her. How could she disregard that?

Her hands gently unwrapped themselves from him and she looked into his eye as her hands gently brushed and came to rest against his cheeks until one slid down to his shoulder and one gently tilted the back of his head forwards. All the while she looked at him with a hesitant smile on her face. She decided to lean in toward him and this time it was her turn to whisper in his ear.

"I love you."

She pulled back from his ear to look into his eye again and waited for his reaction, her hands moving to his shoulders as a soft smile spread across her lips.

Veroen silently watched her, attempting to guess what she was thinking, a soft smile on his face, knowing in the end what she would say, for he could feel it in his chest, where his heart used to be, before he was turned into the immortal being that he is today. He kept the same face, as Edith seemed to finally decide what she wanted.

He could actually feel a thud in his chest when he heard her say it.

A wide, joyous smile crept onto his face.

She had decided that she loved him. He knew he felt the same for her. All this time, since he had awoken, he had been attached to her presence. only now had he realized that he actually did love her, here, next to Las Noches, he said the four words that would be the beginning of something special.

"I love you too."

Veroen said it softly, an slowly, making sure he would say it right, for he hadn't said that to anyone since before he had become a Vampire. In all actuality, he had never even said it to Lily, not those words, not with meaning. Now he finally spoke them, with every single inch of his body meaning the four words.

Sfter he said this, he leaned in to her face, touching the side of her face as he pressed his lips onto hers, this time without his desire for her blood. He kissed her for the first time, and time stood still.
PostPosted: Thu Jan 29, 2009 4:03 pm

Lily's ear perked when those three small words were spoken. She froze mid step and turned on her heels. It took everything she had not to attack them and it showed. Her eyes narrowed, her jaw clenched, and her hands were in such tight fists that her nails had dug into her palm and blood dripped to the ground.

Her cigarette fell out of her mouth only after she had bit it in half. She threw her arms down and let out a scream that shattered windows for blocks.

Both of them were dead to her. Lily realized she had already run her dignity through the mud and wouldn't stand to make herself look even more like an idiot.

She quickly composed herself and walked past the staring eyes of the crowd on her way back into the club. She grabbed a bottle of vodka from the bartender and walked back outside. She simply nodded toward the two of them and shot Veroen a look to watch his back. She could act calm but her rage would surface someday. In the mean time, she had plenty of time to plot and scheme.

She may just give it up, it's not like he really offered her too much of anything. He was always too busy and tied up in other affairs, it would be no different with this new woman. She too would soon realize what it's like to be committed to a person that disappears more than you could ready yourself for.

Lily lit a cigarette and walked around the corner to bash in the window of yet another car.

The only thing she left behind were tire marks and the squealing as she sped off.
