Just a little update on what Equalor is trying (this was after I told him that I had mentioned here about his wishes for his vine egg):

I'm assuming of course that the code that originally was responsible for the Neglected Dragons remains unaltered. That only the set times for hatching are changed or added. Having taken programming in school I'm going with what I might do as a baseline. I may be wrong in this thinking, but here's what I've learned from the experiments of others.

- Getting and Keeping an egg/hatchling sick has not resulted in a ND
- Low views until the last hour with ER postings at that point has resulted in ND Eggs
- These eggs have lasted no longer then 5 minutes
- Eggs that turn to ND eggs revert in hatching by several steps
- First NDs were a result of massive views and grew up in one day.
- There are NDs that resulted in breeding Christmas Dragons Out of season
- Those NDs are the ungendered and aparantly were instant
- Scrolls exist with ND's where it looks like someone signed up then left after getting eggs
- I've not found evidence of a succesful experiment
- All known experiments with low views fogged until last moment resulted in normal hatchling or a dead ND egg
- So far as I'm aware this method is the only one resulting in ND eggs

Thus I ask what might lead to a near success turning into a failure. I can conclude that the originals were unfogged and fogging might interfere somehow. Some failures have complained that not all ERs would accept the egg. So it is best not to fog if at all possible.

Having the eggs turn then die shortly after leads me to conclude that they didn't get quite enough time. Seeing as how they revert back it is only reasonable to assume they need time after the transformation to gather more views. With less then an hour I believe not enough time is left for this.

That is why I shall try for a one day ER experiment for a ND. Depending on what happens, I'll adjust times for the next one. Say 6 hours if I don't get a turned egg, and 2 days if I do.

So there it is. The reasons, or thinking behind this little experiment. If anyone wishes to try this feel free. I'm sure there isn't a 100% conversion rate.

At this point I let him know that 2 days does not result in neglected dragons, esp since I've been given a couple at 2 days, and ER'd them getting the dragons hatched within 15-30 minutes.

I do know from reading the forums on other experiments that even waiting until the last hour can result in normal hatchlings. So It's hard to determine just when the optimal time might be, or what the conversion rate might be. Zombies afterall are a 1:100 chance unless its halloween, then its 1:4.

I'm inclined to believe the ND's may also be a 1:4 chance.

:thinking: Well Champagne it might have been just luck that prevented them turning. It would be like trying to get an Alt dragon. A curious note. of the two garden dragons used in other threads for testing, both hatched as Alts. To small a sample to draw any conclusions from, but an interesting thing to ponder.

Can neglecting an egg up the chances for an Alt hatchling ?

I may go back through all those posts to see if more cases are present. This may be one of those overlooked discoveries. Will make note of what dragons can be Alt's first.

Also, and I've not run any numbers, but it seems late stage grabs don't seem to transform as often. This might be a false impression of mine, at most I'd be going by what 40 experiments in this vien, so not really enough for any solid conclusions.

I'm answering him now about this, and I know that Bre's Alt was bred by her, so that wasn't an issue. But breeding dragon amounts are down, only one egg per successful breeding session
